- This past weekend we took a trip to the Nashville card show. Saturday was just a show that started off with a few bulk deals like a few value boxes from a dealer and a huge memorabilia deal. It turned out, there was a lot more in store for Saturday! We ended up purchasing a 1952 Topps Complete Baseball Set with the iconic Mickey Mantle Topps Rookie Card! The Topps set was a good buy. If you dreamed of owning a set you will never have any regrets. I think it was a smart purchase considering Fanatics has the MLB rights in the near future. With Topps being out of the market, i believe this set will increase in value sooner than you think.

52 Topps baseball set is incredible man. As far as Baseball is concerned other than T206 set you gotta think the 52 Topps set is the absolute grail in the hobby for sure. The time and work you have put in to the hobby/business has paid off, and will continue to pay off for sure.
The 1933 Goudey set is legendary too.
Loved the phone call with the better half. That’s something a lot of collectors never talk about but that openness and communication about our card purchases is so important. Awesome video Ryan!

I own a Mantle so I follow the prices. Haven’t paid attention to what sets sell for these days, but that seems like an insanely good deal for 52 Topps set considering what Mantle and Mays is going alone these days. If tying up that cash long term isn’t a killer that would definitely be a long term hold for me

Congrats if you got a buyer lined up or for the PC. I would of passed on that set. For that 47.5 you could easy get a psa 2 or 3 Mantle those cards looked like some beaters. I think the seller doubled his money. It will take you awhile to chop that set up i think. But, you do seem to have a very big circle. I wish you luck!
Beat up 52 Mantles go for $30k all day long right now. He made a great deal. The other big name cards in that set easily make up the difference and then some. I've even seen some "authentic" Mantles sell over $30k, that didn't even get a grade. I think you are underselling the current market on that set.

Like the interaction with the people n could never imagine spending 47k! Just the Mantle alone n Matthew's makes it worth. Just a side note just bought a 64T 65T 66T n 67T Mantle cards PSA3 n PSA4.

It's 2021 can we now agree that Mickey Mantle's RC is 51 Bowman? The 52 Topps is a great second year card
I agree. The 1951 Bowman is definitely Mantle's rookie card. Same with the 51 Bowman Mays.
Very fair deal on the 52 set, I think you'll do well with it.
I remember in the late 80's seeing a collector's 52 set. The cards were in way better condition than this set.. Back then he valued it at $10,000 and I thought that was insane.
Were they graded?

@@gabrielwier7166 nothing wrong with ultra modern stuff. I completely understand the appeal, and I collect some of that as well. However, I my real interest is vintage. Also, knowing and collecting quality vintage helps you diversify in terms of your collecting.
Totally agree with you on that. It has always been the main base of long term stability and growth as well as the personal enjoyment of the various cards and stories behind the legends.
