Just did my cases. Thank you. I put a dab of thread lock, and a spring washer on the screw that holds the plastic square to the lock. And plenty of grease in the lock.
Thanks. This video was extremely helpful getting the locks setup properly.

Thank you! I bought a second hand PA and the lock was not seeded in the lock port. Watching this video assisted in realizing how to insert into the lock port.
Thank you so much for this. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined but I've never had to put a locksmith hat on and this was a lot of help. Note to anyone reading this and installing the lock on a TOP CASE, those locks don't have the plastic end with the notch like you see in this video. Just follow the same instructions and the screw/washer combo goes on AFTER you put the lock in it's housing.
Thanks for posting this video. Helped immensely, the printed instructions sucked. Ordered the sport side cases early on and forgot about them. Installed the black Aluminum boxes with the rack a month ago. Decided since I have them, might as well try the sport cases. They are much narrower (38.25") than the aluminum cases (43") coming in about the width of the bars with the brush guards. I do like the they are keyed to the rest of the bike and can come off very easily with handles to carry into a hotel room. I didn't think I'd like the look of them but they look a LOT better in person.
Thanks a lot for the video. Just one thing, for me the "retention tumbler" ( tha last only one) hade to be pushed with a little more pressure than I thougt. I was stuck for a while until I figure out.
Edit: I should of followed your video first. I watched the HD one, and it was long and through, but it didnt work. I had to spend an hour taking the lock mechanism apart to try again. Your method is much easier. I'd say just pay close attention to the bits sticking out (or not) from the cylinder. They absolutely have to be flat with the cylinder, not above or below. And the only thing you said wrong was when putting the assembly into the case, the notch goes towards the 5 o'clock position, matching with the arrow. Not sideways.
Thanks for making this video. I'm sure it will be of help when my cases finally arrive. No ETA on those just yet. Can't even order the top box at this time.
Thanks for the video! I would like to buy some side cases that were already used. Is it (easily) possible to adjust the lock to the new key? Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea about this... Greetings from Germany
I have been given the locks by a friend who has the Pan American. The lock had the Black plastic with the notch on the opposite side from what your video shows. I think they should be the same? Thanks for your efforts.
One tip I have, and I'm probably the only one lazy enough to do this, but I'm considering ONLY using the retention clip/tumbler. I've messed with this for hours. The tumblers are so close in size that I have multiples that feel flush. I would find the perfect combination, and it would work. Then I'd match the other side and nothing! Won't turn. I did all this with the last tumbler/retention clip out. The more moving pieces I add, the worse it feels and more points of failure. So, 'retention clips only' are what I'm thinking. The key will just now be a tool to open it. I'm going to take them off at night anyway, so I take my chances.
I did remove mine once, it was not scientific. I just wiggled the assembly and played with pushing it in and out till I was able to safely remove it. Sorry I’m not much more help.
@@tgshorts2211 unfortunately, I couldn’t find the answer either so I took the bag completely apart. Once the locking mechanism is removed, you have access to the backside of the lock cylinder. I found a small hole and used a small jewelers screwdriver to slip in there and release the tumbler that was holding it in. Took me about 2 hours to take it apart and put it back together again.
I put the lock in the hole and it won't turn, the key will come out but not the lock. So it's installed and won't turn at all. Any ideas. Locksmith? I knew I was going to botch this.🤬
I followed this video thinking it would be a good short cut vs reading instructions. Once step is missed in the beginning in which your suppose to install the lock w/o ring prior to installing tumblers. If your lucky maybe the factory already did that. Not doing that may result in the lock not functioning properly and your no longer able to get assembly out to fix it.
This is utterly stupid. I've never had a set of cases you had to assemble the lock. By the way, the gas cap you have to buy separate on the base model for 112.00 bucks is the same idiotic deal. Still haven't got it to work. Guess its going into the shop and Harley can put there crap together like it should of been in the first place.
The cases are made under contract, by shad. Unfortunately the locks are unique to these cases. Twice the price of shad replacement locks. @@rglrtxdudehearnow9812

Thanks! I couldn't make ANY sense of the instructions that came with it. But this was dead-on and simple.
Thank you so much for posting this wonderful video, the instructions were next to useless without your help I would of been stuck. Much appreciated.
Thank you for doing this video. I don’t know if I could have done this without your tutorial and I’m pretty handy.

Thanks Bro. Really helpful. Here in Germany the dealer couldn't figure it out, but thanks for your video. Bishop

Good video, had to get new barrel for my petrol cap lock after it jammed up. You made it a lot easier than the instructions.
Thanks a lot for the video.

Awesome video, really needed it.
Thank you so much, that was informative. I managed to setup the key bag successfully.
Thanks! I am going to be needing this soon I hope!

Thanks for this... really helpful.
I didn't know about lock set on the sport case, I bought oroginal alloy case, and it came with terrible simple key :-(

I bought a set of used Sport Bags. Is there a Harley part number for the lockset tumblers?
Is it possible use this Lock Set on alloy cases? Annoying that they have different chip keys.
How do you take it back out if you keyed it wrong?

Forgot to say, took me 10 minutes to set the locks to the key. Pretty similar set up to re-keying bmw vario cases.
This was my answer, thank you.
Bonjour comment enlever le barillet pour le remplacer san la clef merci

Any ideas how to remove a lock cylinder with tumblers that didn't line up?

Nice cases
Big help!!!
THANK YOU!
How do you get the lock back out if you get it wrong? Mine is stuck in the case and won’t twist
That’s a great question. I had to just play with the lock, wiggle it and try to turn it to get it back out. Sorry I’m not much help on that front.

You have one on the top case
anyone have an extra set of tumblers, I brought a used PA that came with the sport bags but they never installed the tumblers.
Do you know how to take the tumbler out to replace it?
Mine came without keys
I put the lock in the hole and it won't turn, the key will come out but not the lock. So it's installed and won't turn at all. Any ideas. Locksmith? I knew I was going to botch this.🤬
Following the video above will cause this, he skipped a step
Can anyone help me? I got the lock into bag but it won’t turn to anything but lock and remove, none of the tabs pop out or anything
Once you have the key turned, push the key down and it acts as a button popping the tab up.
Thank you. I wondered how to activate opening of the bags too. 👍
Thank you for the push button info!!!!!! Been pulling my hair out for days

Thanks, It’s been awhile, but I don’t remember that step. I hope your comment helps anyone that is installing these locks.
Can you clarify what you mean?

It isn't "their crap". Made in Spain.
The instructions may be poor but the benefit of having to assemble the lock is that everything is keyed to match. I find that ideal.
