When I spotted you and Gregg alongside the stage in Newport at a Gregg Allman Band concert, I thought, wow, Gregg is a lucky guy............I was right. Thank you for taking care of him.
Back in the 80's Greg was in a dark lounge, in South Lake Tahoe, alone strumming his guitar. It was 3am & he waived me over to join him. I had no idea how intelligent he was & a very sweet man. We sat, sang & talked for 2hrs. One of the best memories of my 73 years on earth💞
Classy lady. Glad Gregg found her when he needed her the most in his life. I’m a 64 yo lady who had the pleasure of seeing The Allman Brothers in Jacksonville Florida in the 70’s. Gregg’s book “ My Cross To Bear” was a fantastic read. I still play my Allman Brothers greatest hits in my car all the time. Thanks for sharing Shannon.
So very, very grateful that your heart is big, brave, and at peace enough to share Gregg with the rest of us. It means so much and really does help ...eight years later, to process and finally get some closure with my favorite musician and your loving husband. Godspeed, dear One. +++
Shannon, you did an excellent job taking care of your husband, Gregg. I’m a big fan of the Allman Brothers. Gregg seemed like a genuine Southern Gentleman. Being a caregiver is not easy. Thank you for sharing.
70 years old grew up listening to your husband a great human I'll never forget when they asked him if he would want to live his life again he said once was enough I could relate to your husband on every level love you
Gosh Shannon, I'm grateful for you. That and you are beautiful! I was in Macon the day of Gregg's funeral (I'm originally from there). Thank you for being there with him and for him in his life. You will see him again.
These are deeply generous and appreciated sharings. Thank you! I hope you will continue them. Thank you for giving so much of yourself to his well being and loving him the way he needed. ✌️❤️✊
Hi Shannon, my husband of 36 years is in hospice now. We have been together since i was 18. He was recluse musician, only sharing his beautiful music with me, so special to my heart. He can't play anymore but i love him all the more. Greg and your testimony made us cry, a loving happy cry. Thank you so much for sharing. We look forward to hearing more of both Gregory and your wisdom and testimonies. God bless you!
Shannon thank you for starting this channel and sharing so much with us, the general public and, most gratefully, his fans. You are a fantastic person so strong, thoughtful , kind and empathetic and compassionate. Your insights into caregiving and its effects on the caregiver are welcome and much needed. Thank you for sharing what you and others in Gregory's close circle experienced during his illnesses. It prolonged his life as an artist and a man. As a fan from their earliest days. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this. So glad you all found each other. I've often wondered how you were doing and prayed for you. I had no idea of the toll it had taken on you and others who were close to Gregory. Thank you for elaborating on this. Eight years on I wish for you continued healing and recovery. Blessings on you dear lady.
Shannon-I’m so thankful to finally meet the love of Gregg’s life. We are truly grateful that you are sharing these intimate moments and memories of his love life with you. Gregg had a profound influence on me as a musician throughout my life. I named my first daughter “Melissa” and my license plate says “MNITRDR”. I have played guitar for 42 years but about ten years ago I bought a Hammond B3 and it’s because I wanted to keep his legacy alive. There is nothing I would rather do than get behind that organ and sing “Whipping Post” or “Midnight Rider”. I went to the Big House in Macon earlier this year and I could feel the spirits hovering around me of all who have passed from the band. I went out to RoseHill to the gravesite and just spent some quiet time with Gregg and talked a while as if we were the closest of friends. I truly loved that man and we will keep his memory alive through our music. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost eight years since he crossed over to the other side. May God bless you the rest of your life for the love you gave your husband.
THANK YOU so, so much...❤❤❤🫂🫂🫂🎹🎹🎹🎵🎵🎵🎼🎼🎼🎶 Been life long adoration of the ALLMAN BROTHERS, since the beginning and I ll never stop loving all of music....man, Gregg was so lucky to be intertwined with you 🫂🫂🎹🎹🎹
The greatest songwriter in my opinion. When he died, it was the end of dreaming within me - it's my only way to explain the loss of Gregg Allman to me. My life has been greatly influenced by holis music. But so little known in Australia.
Thank you for sharing those intimate moments with Greg. The last story you told made my heart ache. He was a very good soul, who had endured such tragic losses early on in his life,... and yet was able to channel a deep artistic gift into the world that brought joy and soulfulness to millions of people.
Thank you so very much for doing this . He is truly missed. I grew up in Atlanta and going to Piedmont Park on weekends, listening to the Allman Brothers play, and it was free! My best memories are hearing one of their songs and taking me right back to those days. Wonderful time for all of us , I'm sure. I named my first born, Duane! They were the best in my book. I'm happy Greg had such a woman as you. You were blessed just as Greg was. Its a love story but with a sad ending. Thanks again for sharing. ❤❤❤
It's like that with true love. I'm very sorry for your loss. When a man is an accomplished musician it's his life, but when he tells you that you mean even more it speaks volumes, I know. We've had the same discussions as you and Greg have had because it's inevitable, and it's terrifying, to imagine a life without one another. I feel for you. 💔
You are absolutely gorgeous and loving. I sat and listened to this and was in awe of your love and courage. Was fortunate enough to see them and ABB several times. I’ve read the books, and As a huge fan of GA and the ABB, I was in the audience several times. times in concert. The last time was at the HOB in Myrtle Beach. 😅what a God given talent. You took care of your husband with all of your heart and soul. Your voice is calming and you are wise beyond your years. God bless you r sharing your intimate journey with us. I still have my yellow Multi Colored Lady in my wardrobe. I have some things recorded from that 12/29 concert in 2013. Thank you for making him happy and comfortable. I do think you were the love of his life. Sending love to you from SC.
I think I listened to this once before. Right now my wife has incurable brain cancer, Glioblastoma. Stage 4. It’s just terrible. Listening again offers some peace. Thank you.
That was beautiful. I totally understand his feelings towards the end. As a single man, I can only wish I could have someone like you come into my life and make such a touching impact in my heart. I'm 69 and I really don't think there's anybody that really knows me and who I actually am. Nobody wants to die alone and I'm thankful Gregory had you come into his life. Thank you so much for that.
Stay strong, keep your chin up and stay positive. Special place in heaven for you. What you did for him, can't be explained in words. Only if someone has gone through the same caregiving process, will they ever understand what it is like. You're an angel and an amazing person. 😊
I got to see my musical idol ( Greg ) in Pensacola, Florida back in 2013 with Hank Williams Jr. What a performance he gave! I listened to his music back in the 70's while in the Marine Corps and followed his career and life. What a wonderful human being we had with him all these years. I deeply miss him. Thank you wonderful wife of his for this loving tribute. Namaste. Semper Fidelis.
I saw The Allman Brothers in Bozman Montana May '79 with Haank Jr. What a show! Hank Jr played 2 hrs and the Allmans played for 4.5 hrs. One of the best shows of my life! Air Force memories. Stationed in Great Falls
You were wonderful helping him and being there for him ! He faced tremendous struggles in life like most of us do ! But the ones who really care bolster our fight! I like Gregg Allman a lot What I think great too he was practical ! When his brother said screw high school he said "no" I need my diploma not sure this band thing gonna work! I love that! And after brother died " let's keep going before we end up on street" " We arnt going to find another set of guys who gets along like we do" Practical stuff! I love it!
So sorry for your loss. How wonderful you are sharing these precious moments with us and for caring for someone so loved by all. You will be together again in Heaven and will never be old or sick again!! Love and hugs to you!!!
I am such a fan of you, and what you are doing with this Channel. As a southern man and musician from Mississippi, Gregg is a legend and hero. And as a man who lost his own father at 7 years old to Cancer, these stories are healing tales for me. So, in 2015, there was a festival in my home town of Bay St. Louis Ms, called Harborfest, and Gregg was the head liner. He was pretty late getting on stage. But he got up there and played his set!! There are videos. (Greg Allman, Bay Harborfest Sweet Melissa)Knowing what you just laid on us, I doubt those people would have complained had they known they were watching a dying man, perform his heart out!!! Thank you, so much, for sharing these memories!!❤
I loved Gregg and the whole band. My all time favorite band and Gregg was my favorite singer with those gritty vocals. Thank you for being so kind and caring. I would love to hear more of your memories. 😪
I was one that really loved Gregg I loved his music. I was truly touched by it all of my life. And that Love carries over to you, Shannon for taking care of him and being a caretaker. I know a lot about that. And it takes a caring person. You probably don’t get told thank you enough. But thank you for being there for him.
That was amazing. Your husband spoke of religious beliefs in his book. Would love to hear more about that - I think his turnaround has impact on a global scale due to his status as a cherished artist.
I remember reading an interview from one of the musicians surrounding the Allman Bros but I can't remember which musician it was now but he brought you up and said how great you were for Greg and he was really grateful. My impression from reading that was that you were really loved within the Allman Bros community.
Wow. Thank you for sharing such intimate memories with us. I got to see your husband one last time in 2015 and I am so very grateful for that. He was always so gracious to us when he came on stage and when he was playing and when he was done. I'll always remember that about Gregg ❤
I'm so thankful he experienced true love with you. I've been a life long fan. Any and all you share is so important. Thank you for sharing. Please share more when you can. You are a true inspiration and so true. God bless you.
Shannon, Thank you for sharing. I have loved his music for the last 50 years. You should write a book about what you are sharing about how Greg dealt with this and also include the happy stuff in his life. I would buy it. I am dealing with lymphoma as I just got diagnosed in August. I think it would be helpful to share for others that are on the same journey.
Sorry for your loss, I was lucky to see ABB play before they were famous, (just before the first album came out), I've been a fan ever since, God bless
Thanks for sharing. My favorite ABB tune is Just Ain't Easy. I love the guitar, organ, and especially the love , passion and soul in his AWESOME BLUES SOULFUL VOICE. I feel so bad that he lost his voice like that, and it probably was unbearable for him. Thank-you for loving him so much, he deserved it, you are an angel, he even said that himself before he got really sick. In conclusion, I will never forget him, that would be impossible. God has awesome musicians with him. God Bless You Angel Shannon.
I'm sorry you had to go through this.Gregg Allman was an exceptionally talented musician. I saw the Allman Brothers Band on their first tour after Duane was killed.Great show.At least he had your support in his final trying years.God Bless you and your family.
Soul mates forever, so inspiring and thank you for sharing, a very peaceful feeling to know that you were there for , and with him.. He touched millions of us through his music..
What a beautiful testimony of love and how wonderful that you completed his journey on earth with the gift of knowing the reality of his worth. So wonderfully transparent you are by sharing moments that were so sacred and private.. Amazing!
I could listen to this wonderful story many times How beautiful your love & how sweet the memory of it Beautiful Lady may life give you reason to use your gift of story telling for greater good 😊 🪷
In my health journey I've found there is a deeper intimacy from illness shared that's even greater than physical intimacy, if you let it happen. Thank you for saying yes to the dance. 🙏🕊️🪶
God put you in his life because he needed to feel Gods love through you. ❤
The best band in the land...I'm old enough to have seen them all three times before Duane passed....sure miss those boys....your a saint😊
Greg was a special person. All of us were lucky he shared himself with us through his music. He will never be forgotten.
