A few parallels with me. Only did a NVQs at college. Went into retail banking and became a semi IT helper. Joined IT 12 years ago as a trainee programmer. My role is predominantly support but I have been exposed to bits of pre written VB, SQL (my favourite!), XSLT1 and tiny bits of prewritten C#. Redundancies are happening in around 18 months/2 years so I'm trying to learn as much C# as I can. I've learnt lots but I know I have more to learn. Thanks for your videos and thanks for this video. I definitely feel imposter syndrome because I didn't do uni so this video helped with my confidence. Like you, i think I have the soft skills and just need to continue to learn as much technically as I can in the next 18 months or so.

Haha just found you on linkedin and saw that you worked for ThinkAutomation. Of course I don't know but the company I work for used TA and so I guess there's a possibility that we spoke about issues with the software.

You’ve already made it but you’re not done yet and won’t be for a long time. Listen to your own words and preach them with a smile on your face. You’ve got the story so now you have to give them a reason to remember. Cheers to 4K or whatever!

Great video and journey. There are so many glass ceilings in IT and if you really focus your energy those above have all done it and are willing to give others the chance they had too.
And imposter syndrome just becomes the norm. Once you step up the ladder it all just starts again. Similar to being on a stage and the anxiety from that, just embrace it and use it. Bring a different perspective to meetings or workshops and realise you deserve to be there.
