I like how when Emily says "we're working on a video for this pedal" she isn't talking about finishing editing it, she means they need to go to the pet store because she got a bird noise out of it (the forest of chirps is very good, kalimba pad is also great!)
I am constantly amazed that you have turned a harp -- the icing on the wedding cake of orchestral music -- into one of the most versatile and complete one-person performances in the world, like a pipe organ. Amazing.
Geez-Louise the dirt on the paragraphs is DIRRRTY. Love how you’re always combining pedals to get new sounds. Mind seriously blown during your bird forest kalimba jam as well. So dreamy :) #birdfood #smashorpass
Paragraphs: the pass-away filter. Yet more Vongon pedals messing withbrick-and-mortar retail operations, we love to see it. Something else I love to see? These new pedals really pushing your music into new avenues I haven't really seen you play with before, from the Ottobit bringing sequenced bitcrushing to the harp, to Onset giving the harp and so many other pedals a new voice (esp. the Pitch Fork), to Paragraphs being a bird chirp machine (I never expected a straight up noise element to your playing, and it's a wonderful surprise). Also, can I say how happy I am that kalimba breaks are back? Best wishes for the afterlife! I mean uh-
The commitment to the bird and death lesson is the real stuff for me. Not just wordplay leading into an aesop, but the B-roll footage shows how seriously you treated the bit. Also, what can't microcosm do? It is such a good pedal.
Emily you are just SO COOL. Don't ever stop being you. Coming out of pet smart with a caged pedal is comedy gold. I absolutely love the shimmer + onset sound
I can only imagine the child that brings a guitar pedal in a bird cage to show and tell. "Mommy says I'll never have to experience heart break because my pet is going to live forever!"
Yeah, so I wasn't sure what was up with the cage, but I was like "Ah, she'll explain it. It'll make sense." And good LORD did you deliver. That entire joke delivery was damn PERFECT. "You won't have to explain the concept of death to them." The microcosm bird forest part was a really cool touch, too.
It’s great you don’t have to explain the concept of death to your family 😆 I lost there! I too used to go pet lonely animals at the pet store. I love leopard geckos but I could never take one home because I never wanted to see it die. They live forever to me in infinite cuteness! I did love it going through microcosm and then the arrows well with the colour palette was so niiicee
I loved that moment with Onset + the Ottobit - really really videogame; and with Skylar it makes your harp feel very choral! I really love the controls on Paragraphs... I wonder how it compares to the classic Moog filters when on a sawtooth wave. The feedback of the resonance of Paragraphs is really quite pleasant. The final track with all the elements together is very pleasant - in the best sense of the word. With the warble of the Kalimba and ultrasheer, it paints a wonderful nostalgic picture. Great work! All in all, a great video! Really good work!
Thanks so much, Brice! Onset and Ottobit is so so good! Honestly these pedals are best when combined with others haha so it led me down a really fun path!
@@emilyharpist I would be really curious how Ottobit and Habit get along...maybe with Microcosm to smooth it all out ...could be some amazing glitchy stuff! To think... potentially a love Glitch set for harp...may not be what anyone was expecting!

1:40 is nice. i bought a delay/reverb pedal with shimmer because of you and Russ making magical shimmer sounds and now I like to just let notes ring out and shimma. V good shimma. I like the bird pedal too, 4:55 sounds like what the Angry Birds soundtrack should actually be, you should tell them that.

Excited for (fingers crossed), the budget fx makers to start making pedals that incorporate at least a few of these ideas. Problem is, buy a pedal or a eurorack module, gonna cost lots. Not everyone can afford the commitment to develop the skills, and find a unique niche, and develop a pleasant on screen presentation, and cultivate an audience of sufficient size to convince people to send them the latest cool gadget. In short, nice work, and it's fantastic that you get to play with all these pedals, and thanks for sharing. Still going to wait on the joyo version, ha!
Thanks so much for watching! I think a big part of why the budget friendly brands haven't tackled some of these ideas is because they're more expensive to source parts for! It would be awesome for them to exist at the same quality but be more budget friendly. I'm looking forward to that day if it comes! I'd definitely do a 1:1 comparison here on the channel if that happens!
Have you ever heard of a laxer harp? Imagine a harp where the strings are replaced with neon lasers, it has a really cool synthesized sound You play the instrument by blocking the beams with your hands which produce sound

One has to acknowledge the brilliant Andreas Vollenweider for pioneering effects like reverb and others on the harp already in the late 1970s/early 1980s and perform on big rock stages. His music is otherworldly and deep.
You remind me of my old piano teach Vera Breheda. She is a classical pianist of some renown. She was very sweet, and the class loved listening to her play. Can you do Canon in D major in the most interesting way you can think? or maybe Air by Bach? I just want to hear a little more playing.
