SCREAMING CRYING LOSING IT. this is one of my favorite tracks from the musical, which I’ve been literally obsessed with for the last 2 years since I found out it existed, and UGH you could animate the whole thing and I would clear my schedule for the whole day to watch it, I’m telling you. I absolutely love how Mr Yagami comes on screen right with the “Kira is your son” line, and the way you used Light and L’s blue and red focus colors for their inner monologue parts. Nearly every popular Anime has a musical or at least a normal stage play in Japan. The funny thing with Death Note is, that the music is originally English. Japan and South Korea translated the songs and made very nice shows of them (you can watch the Korean stage play on RUclips and together with knowing the english songs, it's pretty easy to understand. They changed a few thingshere and there but it's all in character). The problem with the english release is that Netflix has control over the Death Note rights in Western countries and instead of using the songs and make something like The Greatest Showman or anything good, they made an abomination of a movie.
As someone who had somehow not heard that there was an English musical, I was like, "Wow, this song is perfect for this." And then I was like, "Wait, this is TOO specific..." And then we got to the "I think Kira is your son." line and I had to stop, look it up, and burst out laughing.
You know it's funny, i used to be obsessed with this musical, in particular this song and Playing His Game, but i haven't seen content related in a while. This appeared in my recommended basically at random and i am SO glad for it!!!! This is literally my favorite animatic from this musical, ik other people have already said this but the use of their colors for their inner monologue, the part where L cuts the cake to reveal Light's dad, the reference to the op...wow, just WOW!!!!!
The composition on each shot is SO good oh my god, even with them being sketches the art pieces all look so professional, you can tell the artist really knows their craft 😭🙏🙏❤️

This does such a good job of capturing the dramatic juxtaposition of the mundane and symbolic in a way that both feels very true to Death Note while also being unique and distinct from the original. I love this song for a lot of reasons but the use of “innoculate” is such a banger use of words to fit the meter.
