I'll miss Steve Wright growing up listening 🎶 too him on the radio . He was along with a DLT a couple off deejays who hosted an edition off Top of the pops in Nov 1983 . I even bought his singles he released in the early 80s . What a sad loss too the broadcasting world 🌎 RIP dear fellow and thank you for your contribution 😢😢😢😢
"It's me they're after! Not you, dear!"
Genius. 😄
Came looking for this after hearing of his passing today 😞
I remember this so clearly from my teenage years. We used to listen to his show in the afternoon in our common room. He was always entertaining. Sad day.
Steve Wright was your DJ God back then...brilliant in the afternoon with all the characters and a decent playlist...proper funny on a wet rainy day in haslingden in the 80s
My favourite character he played was Mr Arselicker, an obseqious voice he assumed whenever talking about Rupert Murdoch.
Came looking for Steve Wright.
So Sad to hear his passing.
I remember Mr Angry from Purley.
The mad woman, plus others.
Great entertainment listening to Steve Wright in the afternoon & his Sunday Love Songs on Radio 2 when growing up.
It's amazing how someone touchs you that you have not meet! Them. His loose is felt hear in florida, listening to radio 2 when his death was announced on news on radio 2. Blew me away and listening to Sarah Cox and other djs trying ro keep it together. 😢
I have grown with him!
Life is short ! ❤
Loved Steve wright in the afternoon on Radio One back in the day, and also remember this record as I bought it…the only time I ever heard this record played on Radio One was when a certain Mike read played it whilst he sat in for wright on the afternoon show back in 1986….there’s no way a record like that would ever get airplay today!!
How have I never seen this before? How you were loved, Steve. I will miss you forever. x
Beautiful memories of growing up as a Steve wright fan radio and music songs
Love Wrighty and the Afternoon Boys back in the 80's - classic radio never to be repeated
Fabulous ❤😂❤
Always looked foward to his radio 1 afternoon show
Listened ev day
He was the best
I guess you either loved him or hated him, I loved him cos I have a silly sense of humour.
I had the record of this. 😂
I got this as a pressie that Christmas and still love it (the A side anyway). It would have got to number 1 but for the 60 songs which were better. I usually enjoy it through headphones in an unlit room, for fear of arrest.
I had this on vinyl back in the day - just pure fun, he will be sorely missed by so many
Big black 12" ?
I have this on 7" vinyl.
I preferred the big black 12" !
I have a weird shaped picture disc!
RIP Mr Wright.
R.i.p Steve Wright. 😥
RIP to the legendary broadcaster of many decades - loved the show. Even so, this song is probably the worst thing ever, in history.
Yes absolutely. King of the afternoons.
Made cr*p records, though!😁
R.IP Steve
Get the (Desert) Geese OFF!
"My fiance, she shook loud - she trembled with fear!
I said, 'It's me they're after, not you, dear!'"
Biblical lyrics…
Yes indeed. I believe they were written by Noel Gallagher aged 16.
literal arsebandits
The idea that anybody would fancy Steve Wright though.
.
Sad sad news
55 mkes me feel old now another dj gone. I just hope the scum dont come out with sordid tales of 70s 80s 90s 00s steve and ruining his legacy.
Of course it wasn't intended to be offensive but it makes for an utterly cringeworthy watch now. What a difference a few decades makes, this would be completely unthinkable today.
I've alway thought that Steve Wright was shit and I just can't understand why his career has lasted so long. I feel this ridiculously unfunny single probably represents the lowest point of his ignominious career.
I agree 100% with your comment.
Steve Wright became a top disc jockey in the 80's with an afternoon show featuring a host of funny voices - MR Mad, Mr Angry. My favourite was Mr Arselicker, a creepy obsequious tone he adopted when talking about Rupert Murdoch.
What a load of crap!
This would be banned now for offending certain folk id imagine when life was fun and nobody cared about what you did in the confines of your bedroom. RIP Steve
It was pretty dodgy at the time Steve soon dropped the homophobic stuff from the “act”.
"...certain folk"? You mean anyone who isn't a gammonflake bigot.
Political correctness has saved us from this kinda stuff…
Light-hearted humour you mean?
God he's awful. No idea why he's still on the radio!
...quite possibly because he happens to be the best DJ this side of Outer Mongolia.
@@sirbarnabyst.johntoffingto9017 Hope he's payin you well (no g) Dick.
@ConstanceMarkiewicz
...all things considered, 'tis indeed still my opinion that you should give his weekday shows of fun frolics and harmless frivolity on Radio 2 another listen. Today's show was marvelous.
Monday - Fridays, 14.00 'til 17.00. Except on bank holidays!
@@sirbarnabyst.johntoffingto9017 no. Thanks. Root canal work would be more pleasurable...
@ConstanceMarkiewicz
...jolly good luck getting root canal work done under the current ridiculous restrictions!
so awful
Pretty nasty homophobic rubbish. Maybe acceptabe in the time it was done but, thankfully, not now.
nothing nasty about it
@restlessdavid
..indeed, nowadays we have such superior quality stuff to put up with such as Geordie Shore, Naked Attraction and The Sex Clinic!
Then you would definitely enjoy - The Gay Daleks - There are many episodes on You Tube - Hillarious 🤣 Flying around in the Turdis
it's fun, chill out
Exactly. Still a load of old gammonflakes will never see why though.
Alas so much frightfully atrocious tripe was committed to tape in the name of entertainment during the 1980's , aka the decade that fashion forgot!
Perhaps had they transposed it to the key of A we'd be talking about history in slightly less ill-thought of terms and conditions notwithstanding anything to the contrary.
