This is great. I have spent a almost a year researching how to make my own rock formations using cement. Your everyday cement sold everywhere will not work for me. I wanted it more porous, more like lava/lace rock and wanted it lightweight. I'm from Boston and we don't have Lava rock, but if you need granite, come on over. haha.I have done numerous experiments with colors, textures, sizes, and of course many, and I mean many different ingredients. this is all so I can create my own rock plantings for my Bonsai. The things we do for our trees, haha. So a month or so ago, I started working with seashells, crushed. Bingo!! My point, nature/God, whomever wants you to find your own answers and then you will be told. Hence, one of my idols, Master Kimura, finally showed me today I am on the right path. This all hinges on if he is infact using a seashell concrete mixture. Haha. I say that , cause it is identical to what I have found and now use. BE well!! Mother nature always has our back!

ive been curious about working with cement. I bought a cement gargoyle statue I was going to use for root over rock. Cement is very alkali. I let the statue sit in water for a few weeks. the ph of the water keeps reading over 10 even after many water changes. I worry cement around trees may not be a good combination.

    Hi Mr kimura
I watch your work intensely and I like many others love to watch you work.
If only I had found bonsai in my 20s
I’m a crazy pot maker and complete novice bonsai nut.
My latest pot is a rhinoceros rock sculpture. I intend to make it a root over rock with a fast growing Japanese larch.
I only tell you because I want to make you laugh as I know you surly will.
You do incredible work and I will be keen to watch you more 👍👍👍

Certamente il Maestro Kimura non finisce mai di stupire! La roccia sarà anche tenera, e la lama del seghetto sarà sicuramente diamantata visto che tagliava la roccia come una fetta di salame! Risultato eccezionale e sorprendentemente "Naturale"!

Prettsure that’s a block of air Crete, a super light weight, concrete mix that’s baked under pressure to cure it. I have a bunch of blocks I used for fire pit ect, cam be shaped with wood working tools, but it’s a blade killer due to grits.
