RTS is intended to reduced the heavy human traffic flow at the Causeway. I am very certain motorcyclists from JB coming into SG will switch to this mode. The ERP for motorcyclists entering will increase for sure to discourage them. Then, TEL will be well used. In this way, cut down on noise and air pollution.
If the causeway no jam.. sg government will start worry..because many sg will buy house at jb and come forth and back.. it benefit sg government if the causeway jam..to make sure you rent here and buy house here and stay here..
If there's no Jam and daily smooth and clear traffic and everything is efficient on both customs , Singapore is doomed , everyone will move over to JB as cost is lower. Earn SG dollar and spend MYR .....
That person entered Singapore through second link. Why is this video talking about causeway? RTS has nothing to do with second link, and it won't solve the jams there. Don't expect second link users to take RTS. RTS is too far away and very hard to reach. Besides, it is a well known fact that on mornings of working days, the jams are all caused by Singapore. Not due to the speed of immigration clearance of bus passengers on either side. The bus passengers have already cleared Malaysian immigration, but they cannot reach Singapore immigration. Just keep 1 lane for public buses. And stop all public buses from going through immigration. After dropping off passengers, they have to turn back to the origin country immediately. If the CIQ has to be rebuilt to achieve this, then rebuild it now. If you have seen the structures of both Woodlands and JB CIQs, you know it is not a big construction project. Why is everybody avoiding mentioning this rebuild? It is much cheaper than RTS. And much cheaper that whatever colocation. Factory buses have to be given another lane. Trucks should be banned during peak hours, in both directions, so that there can be 1 lane for public buses and 1 lane for factory buses. This is basically the design concept of RTS, doable at a significantly lower cost and in considerably less time. Another option is build an overhead pedestrian walkway linking both CIQs. Equip it with travelators. This was raised by the public at the very early stage of RTS discussions, but why did the authorities avoid it? They knew it is much cheaper than RTS, didn't they? And they knew it works 24 hours a day, while RTS most likely won't, right? What are people who travel at 02:00 in the morning supposed to do? No RTS, so wait 1 hour for a shuttle bus? Because the daily commuters won't use it? I was one of those commuters for a few years. Trust me, get it built, and 99% of them will thank you. The commuters are tougher than the decision makers. If there are trucks that must travel during peak hours, put them on barges, so that they don't block anyone.
The causeway was designed as a land bridge between two countries. Not intended as a commute line for everyone who wants to earn in SG and spend in MY. When the disparity stops, the jam will stop. Want a quick fix? Reduce wp quota to Malaysians and increase duties for Singaporeans who wants to spend in JB.
SG should reduce the rely on malaysian workers and start employing other countries foreign workers in case one day both SG and MY have some conflict in future. To us singaporean, it is a ''want'' to not going over JB, but to malaysian, it is a ''need'' for them thus it is an advantage to us already. Its really time to stop hiring so many malaysians before its too late.
It’s not a “need” for Malaysian to come over to SG either. It’s demand & supply. If there’s no need for SG to rely on Malaysian workers. Please go ahead to restrict or limit their opportunity in SG.

CIQ空间那么高, 通关只有一层, 当初设计时, 通关层为什么不设二层?容量就增加一倍, 繁忙时开放。
每次在CIQ看到黑压压的人群, 抬头看那高高的空大上的空间。
