I guess he is the one who was supposed to strike a final blow in the back when Kreya is distracted by others, given his ability to shield his mind from force users and Kreya's general disregard of him, but she kept him in sight until last moment of the battle, and when he was the last one standing, this wouldn't have worked in any way.

The RCM makes KOTOR II seem so much cooler. Vanilla version isn't a short game, but it ends with a lot with the player wanting more to have gone down before or even after fighting Kreia.
When Traya came into the temple, she singlehandedly dispatched a group of the highly trained Sith assassins who attempted to come at her and put Sion in his place. That one dude standing in the background's like "Nah fam, she'll be alright"

I think it is actually Kreia messing up with their minds. She forced them to attack her in such stupid way, and then told them what they feared the most in themselves. She always had problems influencing Atton, and he was the only one able to break her control and run away.

Bao-Dur's remote stayed behind, for the last activation of the mass-shadow generator. Surik's companions rebuilt the Jedi order. Surik herself eventually contacted Bastila-Shan from the first KOTOR. She discovered that Revan had gone beyond known space. Leaving her company behind, and only taking T3-M4, Surik set out looking for Revan. She discovered him on a planet called Drommund Kas (I think I spelled it wrong.). Here, they, along with a man named Scourge faced off against the Sith Emperor, Vitiate. During the confrontation, Scourge has a vision of a Jedi standing before the emperor. Scourge then literally stabs Surik in the back. Revan is captured, and kept alive over the next 2-300 years, using sith alchemy. Surik, as a force-ghost, stayed with Revan to help him deal with the temptations of the dark side.

It's implied in-game, that while Kreia's force bond with the Exile is strong, Kreia seemed to exaggerat about their bond's strength, to convince the Exile to keep her around. It also helps Kreia convince Surik to see her as her teacher of the force.

Well it's not really the ending. But all you have to do is play as a male exile and train all party members in using the force.
