I reported a large infection of rose rosette disease to your extension office and was basically told that they don't care. Given the devastation of this disease and how contagious it is, I was frankly appalled. I'm hoping I just reported it to the wrong department, but the individual I contacted did indicate to me that it's just not a disease you're monitoring. That is very sad and disappointing.

Heather, we are sorry that you had this experience. For such specific topics, it is probably best to contact MU Extension through the web site, and you will be directed to an MU horticulture specialist. The website is here: extension.missouri.edu/contact/

If my rose was to have canker disease, how would I go about treating it?

Pruning the dead plant tissues is the main method to get rid of cankers as there is no fungicide available to control them. Please refer to this link: hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/rose-diseases/

I have something weird going on with my roses. The new growth is twisting and the plant looks like it’s drying out. It’s starting to spread to all my roses.

We suspect your rose may have Rose Rosette Disease, which is caused by a virus. Would you please send a couple of photos of your rose to MU Plant Diagnostic Clinic for further diagnosis at plantclinic@missouri.edu.
