I worked in the hotel industry for Marriott in their banquet department. Max Cap is always posted in the room on a sign for one. There is no way in hell any worker at Marriott would say that the Max Cap number is a rough number. Also there is no way in hell they would say yea it says 1,000 people but we really mean 5k. If the room caught fire and there were 5k people in there Marriott would be completely responsible and it would bury them. Hence why a multi billion dollar company would never ever let 5k people into a 1k cap room that is just a fact. So Tana can try and blame Marriott all she wants but if she thinks she is about to win that argument she is fucking sadly mistaken.

My dad was an event coordinator for his company for like 10 years. He was in charge of planning the community outreach or volunteer programs that his company was involved with. You do not plan an event for 5000 people in 7 days, even with 10 years of experience. There was no food, no water, and she had people waiting outside of the event location for 4 hours before canceling it entirely. As pewdiepie said, it was a perfect example of greed of ego and greed of money being combined. She had no business planning a convention, nevermind just in 7 days, and she had no business keeping the money she got from it either.

She should’ve been charged along with perhaps others involved but maybe it’s like cooking the books... if you can prove that you were ignorant they usually don’t proceed with charges depending on many factors obviously and in the absence of any proof to the contrary.. or maybe that’s just a case if if they can’t prove it the IRS won’t waste money taking you to court over it. I don’t know that particular area of law so who knows... but she definitely seems ignorant. Usually in criminal law I know ignorance of the law is not a defense but I’ve always heard that about cooking the books but that could definitely be wrong, as I said I’m no expert.

For the record-- the $325k from ticket sales is actually being held by the ticket company. Neither what's-his-albino-face or Tana saw any of that money, at least as of yet. What cracks me up about the whole shit-show is that it was all inspired by Tana's "terrible" VidCon experience and her "dream" of creating a better event that guarantees a great experience for every attendee but in reality it was a last-minute unorganized hot mess that gave nobody a great time and instead gave them second/third degree sunburns, dehydration, heat strokes, disappointment, broken promises, and a bag of garbage. Tana pretty much turned around and gave her fans an experience a hundred times shittier than the one she had at VidCon and made them pay for it.

This obscure company, Veeps, is an overseas company on some island that is a place shady companies often locate their headquarters. Also, the CEO of the ticket company is most likely an acquaintance of Michael, mr. what's-his-albino-face.
Not to mention why would a ticket company hold funds like that? I've never heard of such a thing because when it comes to conventions, the ticket money goes to expenses like the hotel costs and security etc. Not to mention ticket companies are not held liable for events, they simply sort out the tickets. There's no reason for a ticket company to be holding funds from a convention.

Somehow I feel like young adults are being expected to behave like children these days. It's people like Tana who serve as painful reminders.
I just legally became an adult, so I don't have a historical perspective, but when I was young, adults always seemed reliable and wise. I often didn't understand them, but that was okay because as a kid who sought knowledge and intelligence, I wanted to be like them. While there are still great role models out there, I sometimes can't help but think of idiots like Tana who, after twenty years, still haven't learned to take responsibility for their actions, even when their actions impact thousands of people.
I understand that becoming an adult is a gradual process, but that's why you should be at least mostly prepared to take the leap by the time you turn eighteen. I personally lack some practical skills such as intermediate-level cooking and doing simple repairs. However, I generally know how to manage resources, treat others with respect, and plan ahead. These are all very basic skills that people should learn just by existing in society, and yet there are people who are supposed to live on their own, care for themselves, and even run businesses who cannot manage this.
Obviously, there's a stigma around being a drunk frat boy or some other type of irresponsible "college kid," but I still think that it's tolerated to some extent. It seems to me like people are expected to make similar mistakes as young adults as teenagers except to even worse extents. While youth should definitely be a time to figure things out and learn what does and doesn't work in life, it doesn't take a 25-year-old with a "fully developed" brain to know why some decisions, ranging from trying coke to completely mismanaging an event, are dumb.
When I go off to college, I want to be the embodiment of all that I admired in adults as a child. I don't want to use emerging adulthood as a crutch for my childish actions and lack of foresight. Instead of relying on vague platitudes like being special and living while I'm young, I'm going to bring meaning to such clichés by developing unique and useful skills and carving out the best possible life for myself, both at present and in the future.
I realize that this is a really long rant. It's not meant to apply to h3h3 because he was using the idea of children as context rather than an excuse, and his view is just a symptom of the problem. His wording in combination with these events is what made all of the above thoughts come to life, and I just hoped that anyone who read this would find them useful.
Adults have no idea whats going on. The successful ones just don't jump into shit without checking it out first.
Mitchell Horton Yeeaahhh... There's no magical age where you just hit wisdom. People can be at varying levels of intelligence and emotional maturity at the same age. I know 50+ year olds I wouldn't exactly call mature and would get more defensive than Tana if they did something wrong. They're just reluctant to admit it.

Tana has taken responsibility for this now, but did all of these people that follow this girl REALLY think that TANA could figure out an entire convention with thousands of people IN A MONTH. it's on all the people that bought tickets and all the creators that promoted it.
