Kanye's public mental breakdown becoming a meme within hours kinda shows how lax people are about him very clearly not being well. No matter what happens, I genuinely do hope that the man gets the appropriate help that he needs.
Kanye should have help long time ago. This mental illness is way scarier that everyone is telling. It's on the same levels as schizophrenia. They are dangerous in mania for themselves and for family. I would never allowed chilld near person in that state, because child don't have Idea that something is wrong and will go with mommy to do crazy activities. They have 0 contact with reality during mania. Living with my mother who has this illness was the most traumatic time of my life, I still have PTSD and Don't wish any child to come across something like that. ( She leave me in forest while we was on walk, she stab me with knif, wanted jump from a window, cheating, lying, buying usless stuff, etc) The worst thing is that they don't view themselves as sick. When they have depression they are walking corpse, there is nothing in them. They will try to make you feel sorry you are alive if you live with them long enough.
kanye is someone everyone loves to hate and laugh at but he is a human at the end of the day and deserves the same support yall show other artist that have public episodes (shia leobouf, brittney spears, demi lovato etc etc)
davo. and that ISS because it has become popular to be depressed or have mental illneses. Now everyone acts like they have ocd, depression or anxiety while the ones that are really smugling with it gets left behind.
As a person living with the same disorder it's best to feel cared for and taken seriously. Mania propels you into a world that at times only feels unique to you when you're going through it. To others you could be viewed as alien. Really it is best to offer your understanding and kind words. No matter the social status of the person suffering through it.
Even if he was a terrible rapper who didn’t do anything for the game, you wouldn’t wish for them to die to something like this and you’d wanna support them through their bad episodes, like the argument “oh because he’s a good rapper, he needs to stay alive and well” is so stupid
Me being a person who has bipolar disorder, it’s sad how I’ve seen people actually make jokes about this. I’ve know what its like and this just shows that people in this world don’t care about nobody. 🤦♂️
Exactly my episodes were horrible and so I couldn’t bear to listen to what people were saying about him cuz I know they’d never be able to handle me at my worst & will never really understand me
"How Should We Talk About Kanye's Bipolar Disorder?" ... You shouldn't. Tabloids and new should not be speculating or discussing someone else's mental health other than mentioning the fact that they have it when it's necessary to do so. Let the person struggling or those close to him decide if/what should be discussed and when. This shouldn't be used for clicks
Wes Brown I think it’s important when he’s a public figure with influence, as well as a candidate for president, to understand how he thinks and to take that into account when he’s speaking
I think we should because it spreads awareness of mental health and it’s helping people understand him better instead of writing him off for something he can’t control
My sister is ‘bipolar’. It is extremely tough to deal with. As family we can’t really do much either. She’s an adult and is free to do whatever she wants. That includes not taking medication. I feel for Kanye, and hope he can get the help he needs.
I'm bipolar and Ultralight Beam is probably one of my favorite Kanye songs and it blows my mind that theres a connection there with other people with it. Thought I was just on some other shit when people would say other songs are better but I'd always pull this song out and people would just be like wtf
It is really said that this video has been out for 2 years and the signs are just getting worse. People continue to kick this broken man while he’s down. Look at the Lex Friedman podcast, ye has obviously deteriorated since this vid and people still clown him. This is such a shame.
People always get involved when theres a viral hashtag promoting awareness of mental health but they are the same people who will attack, mock, meme and critisise when a celebrity suffers from it. Nothing but clout
I have bipolar disorder and over the past year I had a maniac episode, full of delusions, bad decisions, depression, and countless sleepless nights. I'm fortunate to have great friends and a great family to help me get through all of that. I hope Kanye gets the help he deserves and comes out of this twice as strong.
I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and I struggled mainly because I hated meds. They made me gain weight, lose my hair and develop acne. I never fear with those issues before at 16. I went off meds several times unsuccessfully but was finally able to go off of them and I’ve never been happier. The side effects and long term damage that they’d do to my body was not worth it to me. My psych also never really encouraged therapy and didn’t want to wean me off of them. I’m truly blessed to finally not be dependent on them.
I think Kanye's right about how bipolar can be a "superpower" but that "superpower" only lasts for so long until u wind up way to much and go down into the depression state of bipolar.
Bipolar disorder is very serious. It’s does not mean that you have energy to stay focused on important tasks such as your job. Mania can create a lot of energy but the psychosis part can cause people with bipolar to become hyper focused on things that are not rational. For example, you think you can run for president yet you quit your job and racked up your credit card to buy supplies for your campaign. Believe me, I have lived with my Bipolar 1 my whole life. Not every bipolar person can focus their energy on advancing their career and making awesome art like Kayne. Remember, Kayne is rich so he has a lot of support. Some of us don’t have this advantage
I hate all the misconceptions and uneducated poor judgment when it comes to bipolar disorders. As someone who does have Bipolar type 2, I’ve dealt with so many stupid comments from people; Assuming I’m crazy and unstable. This video does a good job talking about the disorder and raising awareness.
I hate how they don't take him serious when he's speakin they aren't trying to understand why he is saying what he's saying.....even if you don't agree with him hear him out....
I don't think the general public has an understanding of what bipolar disorder is. I have 2 people in my immediate family that have it, and it can be somewhat stressful and even times dangerous to be around them when they haven't taken their medication. I think at the end of the day we need more compassion and understanding for those living with mental illnesses. A broken clock is still right twice a day.
When you call every statement “questionable” (YOUR opinion), each action “crazy” (YOUR opinion), but then turn around and say we shouldn’t “write people off” with mental health, I find it difficult to believe you’re somehow trying to help people. Kanye needs a healthy support system right now, and he doesn’t need people to disregard what he says, which the interviewer does implicitly multiple times.
I was worried when I saw the title to this video but I think this was relatively tastefully done. Jacques, thank you for not sensationalizing this story, abstaining from judgment, and consulting in an expert in Dr. Marks to provide factual information. Ideally, all journalists would follow the same model. I especially appreciate hearing the perspective of somebody like Kiana who acknowledges being able to identify with Kanye's experience and encourages us to show compassion to people experiencing mental health struggles. If I have one criticism of the video it's that the song/lyric excerpts seemed out of place and detracted from the overall message of the video, but I think the pros of this video outweigh its shortfalls.
I know y'all out here just tryna get clicks but I think titling it "how we should talk about ye" seems so foul to me. I don't really care but I feel like y'all coulda titled it something else like "understanding ye's bi-polar" or something. but whatever its fine, this was a very insightful video and i think its dope y'all tryna spread awareness on the disorder.
my family has many struggles with mental health. that said, it’s hard to give grace to someone who chooses to not take action to correct the issues & instead does things that are highly corrosive, not only to themselves & their family but to society. At what point does that become enabling their problem?
Mental illness is not joke.If you haven't seen how people get.Its scary. It's sad but it serious. It's easy to judge but it's not easy to live with a person if they don't take their medications.
Everyone has mental health. Unfortunately our society is designed to not value mental health. We should all have the knowledge from an early age on how to express our emotions in a health way and have access to free services/resources. The majority of individuals don't even have awareness of identifying toxic behavior and unhealthy coping mechanism. Thank you for creating this very important video!
If you’re not on meds you’re in a constant episode whether it be mania or depression the only way for you to not be in an episode and to be level is to stay consistant with meds and therapy. Most like myself say “fuck that shit” because mania is so appealing
I don’t think it’s fair to claim someone’s “mental condition” invalidates someone’s words/feelings. I think it’s still important to actually listen and think about the things Kanye says aside from what the media says. He’s not as “crazy” as they claim
Talk about "God almighty" and how your against your wife's lifestyle now that you've converted, and your considered bipolar. Luke 21:17-38 "Everyone will hate you because you follow me".

6:52 meds are not the end-all-be-all solution. take 10 minutes and research, or even look at the comments here, and you will read up on people who were diagnosed with bipolar disorder that don’t take meds anymore that are able to fight the fight successfully everyday. a lot claim that meditation greatly helps, and prayer can be a form of that for kanye. i don’t think ye should completely ditch meds, but saying that the disorder *requires* medication for adequate treatment is off. and then you say that “we have to be careful following the lead of someone that says they don’t need medication” why? why can’t i simply find truth and inspiration out of things that ye has said recently? i understand that y’all want to help kanye, i really do, but don’t act like just because he may be going through episodes, that i or other people can’t listen to him or take what he says to heart.
absolutely but he’s affecting a looot of people negatively by getting involved in politics. whether it’s because of an episode or not, that’s an example of him carrying out actions where more than just him and those closest to him could face consequences too
I hope he’s gonna be ok x there should be more awareness about bipolar. People don’t take it seriously. Like Mariah C has it and people thought she ‘went crazy’. How is that fair. Good luck to Kanye ❤️
I appreciate this being highlighted and raising awareness however, don't think it's okay to associate mental illness with the problematic and inaccurate statements Kanye West made. I do agree that he most probably was having an episode. If that was the case then everyone with bipolar disorder would be saying the most problematic things especially regarding issues that affect a whole population.
I'm torn about this. I am bipolar and I don't think it makes you hateful. It loosens the inhibitions, makes you lose touch with reality. I feel compassion for him, but no one should be put a mike in front of his hate.
Bipolar is a spectrum. I have autism, I shouldn’t be going around saying “I don’t think autism makes you look like a weirdo.” There’s a stark difference between a high-functioning autist living in the country who eats well, and a low-functioning who only eats processed crap while living in the bright, loud city. Likewise, someone like you probably have loved ones who suggested medication and you were able to make the right decision. In Ye’s mind, the only people who love him are his kids and Yahweh. He’s been on meds and it’s sucked. And whenever he’s manic, everyone rejects him and there’s nobody to fall back on when he’s down. Imagine the neural pathways that sort of hostile environment would sear into a regular person, now imagine what that’s doing to a Ye. What sort of irrational things would he believe? Exactly what we have now. I encourage everyone to have love and prayers for the man rather than condemn him.
Thanks for helping to increase the awareness of this topic. Great job.
Thank you so much for coming on!!!

Is this sarcastic cuz like.
Kanye is saying he believes in God you dumbasses. The media just can't handle it so he has a "disorder"
