- Most consider them pesky critters, but Dr. Alper Bozkurt of North Carolina State University thinks that cockroaches have the potential to save human lives. By hacking their antennae and transforming them into remote-controlled creatures, he believes we can use the cyber roaches as a mobile search and rescue team to help find survivors during natural disasters.

"I love cockroaches. Some humans may think that they're ugly, but cockroaches may also think that human are ugly."
Vixher X. You know they lack that kind of thinking
Insects like these are basically Biology's machines, they have a simple purpose and their only job is to do it then they die
@KSound Kaiju Yeah good job man, look right over the point he was getting across.

A group of roaches is called an intrusion for a reason.
I wonder why? (Maybe because they're intrusive?)
@@Randomdudefromtheinternetwe’re the most intrusive animal imo
Imagine being stuck under rubble and your only hope of being found is a cyborg cockroach and then someone squashes it
know alot of people starving under rubble do ya dude
Aren't cockroaches notoriously difficult to squash?

+Leetrini i almost died!
They can't think.
@@hamsandwich.4660 they can think just not in the same way we can. If they weren't capable of any thinking, how have they survived for so long?
Anything that can hunt to find food has some degree of intelligence.

That's where the trouble began
DARPA: when "a fly on a wall" may be more than just a *metaphor* for listening in...
That's horrifying! You're lost in the rubble of a building collapse & just when you think it couldn't get any worse, a swarm of giant zombie roaches sweeps in! I know they're there to help but I'm so afraid of bugggssss!
@Selene Noir Thats no zombie, THATS MIND CONTROL
well what if the cockroach wasn't controlled and it WANTS to help you by its own free will because its lonely? i'm not saying i love cockroaches but i just wonder what you would do. personally if i had a intelligent cockroach as a friend i would make it a mansion out of popsicle sticks and let it live in it and feed it mini pancakes for breakfast, and i would give it a cyborg cockroach slave to use for his own needs.
@cancer just learn more about this topic
CarbonBoy26// 炭素少年26 i'm just saying if it WAS possible would he do it...

I don't like where this is going.

+Darkai Xeno that guy in the red shirt looks like he might use his roach army to kill me in my sleep...

me neither this is the next step in mind control
+Darkai Xeno roaches can survive radiation...
And kids, that's how i become Roachman
Aren't roaches also rad resistant ? They could be used for nuclear disasters too.
No it's mostly a myth.
It depends on the level of radiation being used really. Like, Roaches can tank a lot of radiation and not be afflicted however that comes down to how long they're exposed to it because eventually it'll kill them.
Brilliant, we now literally have mind control.
HOW ARE HIS TEETH WHITER THAN THE BACKGROUND
You already know I'm stomping on it
This is amazing :O
Yah and the end goal is to have one in every house in the world so they can get rid of any "problems".
Cool but I can't help but feeling bad for the ugly bug.
Not because I think it's suffering of course.
+Derikimi REAL SYNTHETIC HEX-BUG NANOS
+Derikimi #first_world_problems
Insects can't feel pain.
+Derikimi Yeah, so do I. Strange thing is that i wouldn't feel bad about stomping one of the little fucker to death, but there's something about taking away their "free will" that doesn't quite feel right.
oww bugging your room... I was expecting fly on the wall!
2:05 his face😂😂
Lmao
But how do the roaches actually survey the areas they are deployed to? Do they use some kind of super-tiny sonar or lidar system?
Did you even watch the video bruh? They deadass explained how 😅
even bugs need to make choices
this kind of reminds me of that stroggification process in quake

I am happy to see Turkish people doing researches. Ne mutlu Türk'üm diyene
Why will I even want to controll a cockroach?
That is terrifying, mind control is cruel
I fear the future of this project
I'm sure you never squashed a bug before,
@@perrypete420 Roaches as a whole dont deserve cruelty. out of the thousands of species only a small handefull are actually pests, most of them live outside minding their own buisness. they dont also deserve cruelty for the wrongdoings of their cousins, only the pest cockroaches should be killed but not all roaches are bad.

time to make my own roboroach

Where am I supposed to get a roach from??? I'm going to try this and bug people 😂 (pun is totally intended)
That battery is too large.
Wonder if they can do a gesture control and a millions of them like big hero 6 microbots..
The Fifth element did it before !
We should make cyborg mosquitoes
Remember that Black Mirror episode?
World War III : Cockroach Army !!!
Cyborg roaches vs cyborg beetles make it happen
As much as I hate these critters what they are doing seems pretty terrible.
If cyborg roaches came close to my girl as she’s pinned under rubble she would jus have a heart attack and die right there
DAMN YOU FITTH ELEMENT!!!!
Thank you! I was afraid I was the only one remembering that scene.
OH GOD! THE FUTURE IS NOW!
Next time fly sneak into your house, it may actually be cyborg spie .....😑
Can I use robo roaches to kill other roaches?
This is horrifying but aight
If you can't beat them join them
You could put chemical packs on the roaches, not very much, but enough to add up when you send millions somewhere., and once the chemicals are that close to each other, BOOM!
Bashar Al Assad, what are you doing here?
I mean it’s cool but it feels a little too mind control-y for me to feel comfortable with
Insects don't have minds, they're basically robots already.
Is this necessary? Can't you build a tiny bot that moves around?
What's the point when nature already gave you something to work with?
+Jason Lui
Things in nature does not exist for humans to toy with. But my stance is, what's the point of all this? Research in BCI? If so why do they have to sell kits to turn all the roaches in to zombie roaches?
Yeah i dont see the point of selling kits besides playing around with them
Tiny bots dont charge themselves, can live anywhere
+Lucas K.
Sure, cockroaches doesn't need charging, but their transponders do.
Besides, this technology has lots of flaws. It relies on people making sound to detect them. But what if the person is unconscious?
Also it is almost exclusively applicable to only earthquakes and similar disasters. What about snowstorms, floods and fires? In order to accommodate all this, it is necessary to switch to mechanical bots.(Or put a backpack on water-bears and hope for the best!)
You know... i understand why Dr Alper Bozkurt Says Cockroaches could save our lifes...
cuz actually it saves our lifes...
from Being alive.
Next control flying cockroaches
That how Pickle Rick did it!!!
nice invention, really awesome technology, why don't you try this with flying insects, it more effective than roaches
It's only a binary system. Left or right. You can't control anything flying with that.
cockroachman and the wasp
If you're an entomophobia like me
You should probably skip from 0:59 to 1:15😑
but robots are robots...
And then they try to control ants. . 😉
Do insects actually like being pet?
Dunno, why don't you ask them?
+Shockwave insects lack the ability to like or dislike
I hate cockroaches so this video is amazing
