Have a 2023 Roadglide Limited. Due to health issues I need a lighter bike. Test road the new 2024 Roadglide and really like it. Feels so much lighter. Just like you I see all the options and $$ would be loosing. Did removing your tour pack make a noticeable difference in weight?
Have a 2009 Vision and a 2013 Cross Country that I would trust to go anywhere, but at 65 I find myself almost always riding the Himalayan. Just so light and easy. It was cheap, so I don't care if there's a little salt on the roads and it loves the backroads as much as I do.
I'm with you on this. I watched a guy's video, he bought it, and periodically, it wouldn't start. None of the dealers could figure out why. These new bikes are beautiful, but they will have to work the bugs and gremlins out of them.
with my 849 credit they gave me 9.5% for 60 months. I laughed. I stated im not worried I'll pay it off in 2 weeks anyhow. Harley was like we ask that you don't pay it off for 2-3 months. I was like ok sure thing. Following week paid it off. I have the 24 RG and purchased without a test ride. Did the test ride after the purchase, and in my opinion way better handling than the 2017 SGS I traded in. I am happy with the 24 by far. just upgrading slip ons and rear shocks with Ohlins (not the reservoir). If people are on the fence go for a test ride and you'll be blown away.
Jack, as you say "ride your own ride". I have for sure thought of the new 2024's because of the dash, but as I said 2 videos ago, this 2022 Heritage just fits me. I'm always tempted, but I'm sure happy with what I have.
The GPS thing is a big no for me, it would be Android Auto for me if they don't make it include a working GPS. Also best to wait a couple of years yo see how things go.....your 2018 is in beautiful shape and is a real sharp looking bike, so I agree theres little reason to trade for the infotainment system alone..................JB
Great video! Sir you really broke it down in terms of reasons to purchase. I have a paid for 2012 Roadglide with tons of upgrades-stereo, performance, handlebars, tourpack etc. i love the new Roadglide and that new CVO RG.. OMG! My thing is that I’m a big guy (6-5) i have to do too much to make a new Harley fit me. There is no way i can ( fit wise) ride a stock Harley out of a dealership. I’ll be starting all that stuff from scratch again. I almost pulled the trigger last year but i felt they weren’t giving me a fair trade value. Prices and interest rates seem better than last year. I’m on the fence. Honestly, performance wise and technology wise, the new bikes are much better than my old vtwin. It’s sentimental reasons for not wanting to upgrade. My 2012 RG was my first ever Harley. $21,500 is a really good trade offer imo.
It is the starting point aspect. I'm like you. I bought my new bike, and I loved it when I bought it. How can I say I hate it now because new bikes are out. Thanks for the positive comments. Ride Safe
Any add on that is on your old bike should fit on the new bike, so make them change the add on’s to the new bike at no extra charge if they want to sell the bike. I’ve never had a dealership turn me down when I agreed to buy if they switched all my old add on’s to a new bike. 🤷♂️
Keep your 2018 until after your next trip. Then decide. It’s hard to part with a bike you own out right. Good point about the new electronics. My Pan America had so many software issues took them over a year to get them out.
Congrats, if you buy it, on the new bike Jack, We had four guys in our chapter buying the new models. Me I'm still loving my 2007 Street Glide. Be safe Cheers Dave
I have a 2018 limited, same situation. I don't like the fact they did away with the anolog gauges, one reason I wouldn't buy one, I like my limited. Trade in prices are not that good. Keep your bike save your money and enjoy your ride. I just live down the road from you, lets ride
Appreciate the view. I'm at this point at possibly trading my 2019 RGS, just bc of everything it has. Mine is paid off and it's in my favorite color, so a dealer would have to give a killer deal. Shiny side up!
These new bikes sure do look great! It would be hard to pass up if you can get a great deal, but…. You’ve done so much to make your current bike fit you perfectly, Is there anything wrong with it? It doesn’t look like there is anything wrong at all…. You have to do what makes sense to you, if that means getting a new bike, then you’re going to be loving that new bike!!!
You can take majority of the parts off and they transfer to the new RG. I took the parts off my 17 SGS, and kept the hwy pegs, sissy bar, and. floor boards. I could take the legend suspension off since I sold the originals. I had a stage 2 on it as well. Just fell for the 24, and again I'll do a few things as well. Great info you have on your take. Thanks pal great info.
I feel I don't do that enough; I don't want to jump right into a new bike. Hey, mine was brand new in 2018, and it still needs a good home with me. Ride Safe
That information came from someone who works at a dealer and is picking up his new bike on Wednesday. Once he receives it, I will make an updated video. He says he is not paying the $350.00. Ride Safe
Great video HDR and it is an amazing bike. If I was going to build it out with all the things that you’re talking about, I would probably have kept my older bike. There are so many things on it to make it hard to pass up though for sure, and I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this.
Great breakdown Jack! Everyone must make the best decision for themselves that they can. The old ADDAGE, "Monkey See, Monkey Do" definitely applies here.
Floor Boards from Thrashin may be cheaper. They have designed the boards for the 2024 models, they also have risers and bars for the 2024. Maybe the best route. Just a thought. FYI, great vlog, the content has been extremely helpful. Thank you.
Good video. If a person is planning on taking longer rides, especially two up, i would consider just getting the limited. Is there much difference in price after you add all of the extra to the Roadglide you mentioned? No new bike for me , i am keeping my 2016 Roadglide ultra, as you i have it all setup the way i like it, including tour pack removal kit which is great.
I will wait until they come out with the upgraded limited models. I'm fine with my road glide limited. Not that many differences to spend that much money for me. Next time they have demo days I will try one.
Your riding season is very similar to mine up here in Northern Alberta. I can usually start getting out for rides around the beginning of April and park it around Halloween or just before. I have to use heated gear in the spring and fall as I am riding in freezing or close to freezing temps then to get as much of a season in that I can.
I decided not to get a 24. Was all lined up, approved, and when i looked at the deal, it was just not good. I hadn't had my old one long enough. Not getting anymore new bikes, those days are over, im too old and they cost too much. Just cause i can don't mean I should.
Great video HDR!...if I were thinking of a new street glide or road glide...I would wait till 2025...you know the ultra limiteds and road glide limiteds will have the new fairings...then just add the quick detach tour pack kit on it!...thanks for sharing...stay safe out there!!😎🤙👍🤙👍🇨🇦
I'd just wait till the new style comes out on the road glide limited next yr. Me personally I'm waiting till they come out with a new electronic suspension and new frame come out. A few places I've read say it's a few yrs but it's coming.
I’ve done the same things as you did to my 2012 FLHTK, plus a Stage II. My bike will only bring about $10k in a trade. It’s not worth over $20k and my bike for a new one. What’s the difference? A better radio, and a 117 motor. It’s still a Harley. New stuff is nice, but it’s not $20k plus much different than what I have.

I'm okay with my 2016 Road Glide Ultra just need to get new handle bars. I start getting pains in my shoulders after about 70 miles. I didn't have this problem when I first got the bike but started doing more day rides now and it's been uncomfortable
Play this video next week when the new one is in your garage lol You know you will HDR lol.....ha! do whatever you want sir! The HIMMY is still the best deal going! Ride the wheels of it !
Hey the first video I have seen that actually uses common sense. People are trading in bikes with only 20-30000 miles on an unproven new Harley that they probably won't ride any more. Not everyone wants to be in perpetual debt to HD. I have a 2016 Ultra Limited and went and looked at the 24's and thought they actually looked cheap. Keep up the good videos's and ride safe......when you can!!!!!
First I have heard about the saddle bags being bendable. That is another deal breaker for me. I guess I will keep my 2018 RGS. That 32k you refer to will be closer to 35k with tax, title, and the bs fees. So you may be financing closer to 15-18k.
That is a good point. Stop by a dealer open the saddle bag and pull it towards you. You will feel the difference. Maybe they were thinking of how to cut weight? Ride Safe
Keep your finished with upgrades bike. Save/ invest the money you were going to have for a payment towards your eventual replacement bike. Let others work out the 1st generation bugs of the new platform. Your current bike only has 30k miles, has all the upgrades you want on it, so you have a couple of years still. Besides it is a great looking bike. Harley considers a bike over 60k a "high mileage" bike and cuts the trade in value in 1/2. I traded my 2018, bought new in July 2019 Electra glide ultra classic with 59.8k miles in October 2022 for the 2022 ultra-apex because of the trade in value alone. It also needed tires and the big service interval was also due. I also always replace brake pads with every tire change. Pads are cheap and it is for my peace of mind, same for my truck.
Sounds like you have a great bike. I might change my boom box someday? My bike has served me well and I am sure it will serve me until I can't ride any longer. Ride Safe
Sometimes it’s very hard to not do what your friends are doing! Sounds like you’ve really thought it through, you’ll make the right decision, for you….
I do want to retire soon, and a new bike payment would mean working for too many more years. We get a lot of winter weather here, so I will stick with my bike. Ride Safe
Strip all the accessories you can off the 18' to sell or reuse ...Then go get the new baby. The 24's are fantastic and your RG is never going to be worth as much as it is on the deal Three Rivers is giving you.
With a new bike you will have a lot of opportunities to make more videos of all the stuff you can do to it. Also, if you have a LLC and can qualify for deductions, you might be able to right off some of your costs for that new machine. Just a thought, I might be wrong about that.
My opinion, if you are on the fence then you aren't ready to buy a new bike yet. I've only ever bought new bikes when I was gung ho and absolutely sure about it. 😎
That's interesting - I didn't know they had a "tour" package with all those things - that's a good idea... and not terribly expensive, given I spent $1,700 for my TP and didn't get a backrest for it, and a seat is a good $500+. All the custom stuff never gets factored into the trade-in price [a shame] but gets factored into the resale price [also a shame]. All the custom stuff I've put on my Street Glide... I don't really want to start over, LOL. The nav thing bothers me only because I much prefer GPS to mounting my phone or whatever, so I hope it's a lifetime thing and not just 3 years, ugh. I thought I read the 3-year thing was for map updates? LOL, peer pressure has not met MY Minister of Finances, who sends me out on "Operation: Don't come home on a new bike" every time I throw a leg over and she knows I'm headed to a dealer :D Unsolicited advice: Keep the 2018. See what Harley does in 2025 for the Limited/Ultra range - I bet everything from the new Glides transfers up - and hopefully the price comes down like they did with the regular Glides this year.
$21500 for an 18 with 30k? That’s a few grand more than what the market sells them for currently. I’d jump on that, if I didn’t have twice as much in my bike/motor. Those interest rates are horrible. Just paid off a Street Glide Special that had 1.99%.
@@HarleyDayRider Not knocking it, we’ll never get what we think they are worth or what we’ve invested. The market is Flooded with these bikes and some are in bad times, which lowers the prices even more due to them taking lowball offers.
They are giving you a great trade-in price. Unfortunately, your mods are not of any value when you trade in. Definitely strip it and sell off your parts separately.
We had the feeling for sure. When someone talks about becoming a solo rider again. No I was thinking about it before Bob talked about it. He pulled the trigger and mine is a little rusty. Ha ha ha. Ride Safe
Keeping up with BoDean52??? 🤣 I bought used from an individual and saved quite a bit. I already had the service manual for a 2020, so I saved that cost…

You know you have to have that bike because BoDean52 just got him a new one and you cannot be left behind. Buy the dang motorcycle. Be safe, have fun and good luck.
21K is pretty good for an 2018....1K off trade if it needs tires ????????? wow...that's why they call them STEALERS.......$1900. FOR A TOUR PACK??????? KEEP YOU OLD ONE....all the new electronics scare the hell outta me.......

If it ain’t broke why change it. I got my 2015 set up the way I want it. I’ll keep it. I like in Michigan so same kind of riding season as you.
It would make more sense if we lived where you could ride all year and every day. Ride Safe
With a new bike you will have a lot of opportunities to make more videos of all the stuff you can do to it. Also, if you have a LLC and can qualify for deductions, you might be able to right off some of your costs for that new machine. Just a thought, I might be wrong about that.
We do take write-offs. But a new payment is not in my near future. Ride Safe
My opinion, if you are on the fence then you aren't ready to buy a new bike yet. I've only ever bought new bikes when I was gung ho and absolutely sure about it. 😎
That is great advice, thanks! Ride Safe
LOL, peer pressure has not met MY Minister of Finances, who sends me out on "Operation: Don't come home on a new bike" every time I throw a leg over and she knows I'm headed to a dealer :D
Unsolicited advice: Keep the 2018. See what Harley does in 2025 for the Limited/Ultra range - I bet everything from the new Glides transfers up - and hopefully the price comes down like they did with the regular Glides this year.
I agree 100%. The GPS information came from another person I know who is buying one. He picks it up on Wed. Ride Safe
You were quoted 28k as base but isn’t 25k the base for 2024 RGS? I ask because you later say plus Delivery Tag Tax Title.
I guess they quoted me to high. I am not sure what the actual base is. Ride Safe
$21500 for an 18 with 30k? That’s a few grand more than what the market sells them for currently. I’d jump on that, if I didn’t have twice as much in my bike/motor. Those interest rates are horrible. Just paid off a Street Glide Special that had 1.99%.
My bike books now for 25000 resale value. Mine is paid in full, and I would like to keep it that way. Ride Safe
@@HarleyDayRider Not knocking it, we’ll never get what we think they are worth or what we’ve invested. The market is Flooded with these bikes and some are in bad times, which lowers the prices even more due to them taking lowball offers.
@@freebehindbars8654 Very true. I was happy with what they offered me. I was one of the lucky ones.
Any chance coffee with HDR making a return???
It might resurface in the off-season. Thanks for asking and supporting the channel. Ride Safe
Good video…
Thanks! Ride Safe
you should by bodeans old bike for half price with no miles and lots of upgrades
I would have, for sure, before he traded it off. Even if I could have bought the mustang seat. Ride Safe
They are giving you a great trade-in price. Unfortunately, your mods are not of any value when you trade in. Definitely strip it and sell off your parts separately.
That would be my plan. I see so many used bikes from the dealers with all the mods still attached. Ride Safe
Why? Because BoDean bought one! C’mon - who didn’t see this coming? 😂
We had the feeling for sure. When someone talks about becoming a solo rider again. No I was thinking about it before Bob talked about it. He pulled the trigger and mine is a little rusty. Ha ha ha. Ride Safe
Buy a used one in 2 years with the add ons and low mileage.
Yes, and you pay no fees for the used bike. Ride Safe
UR THINKING RIGHT.......RIDE WHAT BRUNG YA........
Thanks! Ride Safe
Ride your own ride !
Great quote! Ride Safe
keep it
Great advice! Ride Safe
Keeping up with BoDean52??? 🤣 I bought used from an individual and saved quite a bit. I already had the service manual for a 2020, so I saved that cost…
We have both talked about the new bikes since they were released. He pulled the trigger but mine is a little rusty harder to pull. You got a great deal. Buying used is always smart no fees. Ride Safe
You know you have to have that bike because BoDean52 just got him a new one and you cannot be left behind. Buy the dang motorcycle. Be safe, have fun and good luck.
It's just not me. Too many gadgets. I really still like the analog gauges. Ride Safe
Sounds to me like you should keep th 18 and just buy a third bike and be done.
Now, that is an excellent thought! Ride Safe
Here is something to consider, a brand that appreciates your business. That would not be Harley!
I hear that!
👍👍👍
Thanks! Ride Safe
21K is pretty good for an 2018....1K off trade if it needs tires ????????? wow...that's why they call them STEALERS.......$1900. FOR A TOUR PACK??????? KEEP YOU OLD ONE....all the new electronics scare the hell outta me.......
I was scared away from all the bad stories from the new bike owners already. And your right to many gadgets. I ride a motorcycle, not a spaceship. Ride Safe
It's hard to get past starting from scratch will all of the customization!
Yes and I have a lot of money tied up in my bike. Ride Safe
My best advice is to unsubscribe from BoDean 52 and be happy with what you have paid off!
He is all about new bikes, and I am happy for him. I am pleased about my bike, and you are right. Being paid off really makes it even better to ride. Ride Safe
That is not a base price
It is what I was quoted, I am not sure if it was right or not? Ride Safe
dont start over it motor goes buy new motor
Yes, for sure. Ride Safe
