Gotta admit Azula is way smarter. She’s younger than Zuko and still outclasses him. Even giving away the glory just incase somehow the avatar wasn’t killed by her fatal attack. Which to be clear aang died there katara dragged him back with the magic healing water.
And ironically that's what lead to her downfall

This season man… even the fillers are great, just a near perfect (or perfect) season. Definitely the best one and that’s a high bar. Also we get to explore and understand the Fire Nation more, and how the war has affected them as well.
Oh hell ye. Awakening is a fire episode and katara’s actress delivers some great lines.
Mae Whitman's voice acting was outstanding in that episode 😢

oh my gosh yo you guys finally on book 3 this is gonna be one of the best shows u have ever watched mark my words, book 3 is fire(literally)
I watched a panel with the voice actors of the show and the voice replacement for Iroh (I cannot remember his name right now) told a story about how his mother had given him a Broadway album of a show that had Mako in the cast. He loved Mako's part and spent decades singing along with it, mimicking it, as one does when one sings along to Broadway tunes, and he said when he got the call, he realized he had DECADES of practice at sounding like Mako, and it felt meant to be. He also said he never sings Leaves on the Vine when requested to. He says that belongs to Mako. It was a great panel.

No way people in the comments complaining that they don't like Azula and like Zuko.... like.... of course??? That's just kinda how these characters are set up.
On first watch a lot of us didn't like Azula either, because she was so...wicked. We were legit afraid for the characters when she showed up. But on rewatch, after we know how it ends, it's easier to appreciate how badass she is.
The school episode is def one of my favorites. Had me laughing so hard throughout.

A good antagonist/villain is key for our heroes to thrive
She is a phenomenal terrifying villain and she brings with her the actual possibility for our heroes to get hurt whenever she's on screen. She raises the stakes. That's what keeps the show interesting bc we don't have a guarantee win for our heroes when she's around... They have to work together and earn it if they want to beat her.
In a way, she is the reason this season is as intense as it is, she's the chess piece that makes other characters move and create plans forward

Seriously in the first episode of Book 3, Aang wakes up from a coma and all this news comes flying out and he doesn’t know how to process this. And then he goes AWOL, that was stupid. I mean in his condition he’s be lucky or by some miracle he make it to the Delta of the Fir Nation. I get he has his pride but still he needs to think things through before jumping head first.
it's not even about aang's pride. like yeah, they are obviously trying to draw parallels heavily between him and zuko, but for aang, i dont think it's about pride. i think it's much more just about the reality that the longer the gaang takes, the more people die, and aang feels an immense amount of burden and guilt.
Some knew, but some don't... the handbands are theirs belt.

If you guys do check out LoK remember that each season is more or less self-contained rather than a larger on going plot line unlike the original. Back when it was in the works the studio never knew if they would get another season so much of the writing for plot beats is limited to the season. Know a lot more people wished they would have known that before they started since it doesn't lend itself well to a direct comparison to the original.
Pls remember that momsters are made, not born. Azula is a victim like Zuko too, but she didnt have time with her mom or uncle the way Zuko did.
Even then that was ultimately her choice. she chose not to respect him so she wouldn't have been as receptive to Iroh's advice

Yall have all the empathy for Zuko and none for Azula, the parents choose the favorite or golden child, not the kids. Azula is doing what she was raised to do and praised for doing and she is wickedly effective for someone 14/15 years old. That father abused the hell out of them all, the mother too.
