    To get the process REALLY going, painting the bottom bottle black and using aluminum foil to insulate/reflect the heat from the top bottle would probably work quite well!!!

      Thank's for the suggestion! This is an awesome idea.

  • @Krugzug

    I would try finding glass bottles since most plastic beverage bottles leach chemicals into your liquid when it warms from the sun.

    • @MadScienceHacksTV
      @MadScienceHacksTV  7 лет назад +8

      In a survival situation, dehydration will kill you faster than leeching chemicals.

      Agreed. Second another issue is the bottle. Plastic bottles like this are not meant to be used a lot. That's what the Recycle logo with the 1 means (may be on the bottom of the bottle)
      That material accumulates bacteria plus heated plastic becomes toxic. Even PVC is not great either. But Most service lines to a house are typically plumbed that unless you are lucky and have copper. But sometimes even then, you have PVC from the service converted to Copper. Etc etc etc. List goes on.
      Like DarkR0ze stated above, use for an emergency only. Unless you make something out of a container that's meant to be reused constantly.

    Doesn't work. Tried it myself for months using different methods to see if there would be any water, the best result you'll get is some dew on the top bottle that wouldn't condensate.
