'more Jacob' is my favourite instrument
Jesus christ the microtonal voice leading in the beginning. June, you are a gift and an inspiration to all of us for allowing us mere mortals to understand the intricacies of Jacob's music.
DragonerPhoenix that's what I'm saying man I can't get enough of it
microtonal? This is tame to his usual feat of forgetting about the 440 system and relatable temperament.
o-o Not sure which is more impressive... Jacob's ability to make music like this, or June's ability to make sheet music too it only buy hearing it....
I feel like Jacob threw in those microtones just to mess with you... excellent job as always!
June is the most impressive goddamn transcriber on the planet... You could smash a bunch of keys on ten keyboards at the same time and the man would be able to transcribe it
Can we make a Wikipedia page for June now? I say yes
Jacob. June.
BMessemer don't forget Tori
Good morning! Yeah true true. Tori crushes the cantus firmus.
I absolutely loved listening to this cover, but seeing it transcribed makes me appreciate it even more. This is absolutely insane. Thank you so much June. I loved watching the live stream :)
Wow Tori's voice is beautiful
This is the best Christmas gift!
BRUHHHHHH I KEEP COMING BACK TO THIS VIDEO
ITGOOOOOOOOOLD
Mindblown
Having been there for the live initial run of this, and seeing the finished product... it's just such a treat. You are a genius gift to the world, June, as much as any of these genius musicians whose work you document. Merry Christmas to you.
Aye who else was in the live steam?
me
June Lee I don’t recall you being there 🤔🤔🤔
June Lee no, it was your evil cousin July Lee
Yes sir. Music theory history was made that day.
Negative harmony July Lee, transposed on the axis of the summer equinox! Not evil, just plagal. :)
started transcribing it. after a few bars decided to just google it. thank you.
June, you are magic: you don't leave them the time to sing, and you have already all transcripted!!! :-)
On the big "BOOOUUGGH" at 2:00 Tori Kelly goes down to a grace not C before finishing on the D at the end of her run. However, June Lee still has more musical knowledge in his left pinky finger than I do in my whole body. Plz forgive me master June.
I actually got mad when I saw measures 16 and 17 because someone can actually transcribe that and that's just too much for me to comprehend
I'm more impressed/scared by the quartertone stuff in measure 4...
Dude, this is amazing. Measures 16-17 especially, what in the world! Awesome awesome job
Awesome job June!!! Unbelievable insane harmonies that somehow you can transcribe....AMAZING!!!
June. What a legend.
So incredible June! In these times, quality content like this is so valuable!
My ultimate christmas present: June Lee transcribed those goddamn delicious microtonal harmonies.
These skills are god-tier
amazed as always
Awesome job June!! Just wanna know how did you decide whether measure 3's note C is overtone or not overtone???
Phenomenal work June! The "da ba di ya" in bar 7 is actually "merrily on high" - fits with the "ding dong"s!
wow, I would have never guessed. Thanks
man, nice catch!
I hear 'mer-ry lit-tle' for the four 16th notes in bar 7
thank you master

First of all the chords at 0:42 should be illegal. They’re too beauteous.
Secondly, the harmonized run at 1:11 shattered my brain.
And we’re not gonna act like we just didn’t hear the bass riff at 1:23 WE’RE NOT GONNA IGNORE IT!!
The chord progression during “bough” at 1:54 is my favorite part. It made me melt. I’m melted.
Wow, wow and thrice wow.
YES
heck Dude this is so well done :) congrats! I’m gonna watch that live stream recording now!
June you are the god of transcription lend me some powers please
"You're saying I'm _only_ allowed to use jazz chords and no frequency modulations? You must be new here, my name's Jacob Collier,"
thank you so much June. I love your work
Amazing work as always June! I really enjoyed watching the livestream as well
June!
I hope you see this since it's been a month since you posted, but I was wondering what headphones you use for transcribing and if you had any recommendations. I'm looking into getting a new pair and would appreciate advice.
“More Jacob”
and that only took june 2 hrs.
wtf ty
it took him more than 2 hours, the live stream lasts almost three hours and it was not finished at the end
how close was it?
My point was just that he's crazy talented, and even if it took 4 hrs that's still freakin impressive
yeah that's for sure, i was not trying to belittle his amazing talent
Yeah dude even then this would take me over a year to try to get these harmonies and tuplets. But hey you get better and quicker the more you transcibe, and I know June has experience lol.
It would take me a lifetime and I’d still get it wrong. This is some serious X-men / Avengers mutant type abilities we are witnessing.
love you so much!
Merry Christmas june
You're a legend
Merry Christmas to you, June!
You're amazing
I think there is a very small ritardando of about 5 bpm from bar 26 to 27 where it picks back up in tempo in the last beat. This makes the sextuplets sound like other divisions with the tied note.
Nice.
wow....
0:42 best two chords in the whole thing
What chords are they?
@@samguitarguy A13#11 Db13#11/Ab Resolved to Gbmaj11(13?) Dbmaj13#11 Am11 and then to the "oh"
June, would you consider transcribing the recent video where Jacob plays with Herbie Hancock at the end? I'm really interested to delve further into why what they improvised worked so well, and how they had that common understanding of where each other was going. Pretty please? :3
good work june
Hello
Does anyone know which notation program is being used to show the music?
Sibelius
0:43
June, have yiu and Jacob ever met in person? Or would that much musical genius in one place cause that place to collapse into a black hole?
I wanted to steal some chords to record my own rendition but I can't even find a way to imitate a single progression.
Man it be cool if you made a midi file for this! Awesome work!
June I love you
June, you missed Tori’s humming during measures 7 and 8!
Otherwise this is crazy and absolutely amazing we love you muah
I put that in the bottom Jacob staff, oops
June Lee it’s okay you’re still awesome
Beat 4 of bar 32, and beat 1 and 2 of 33. Anyone wanna guess those chords? Around 1:59
please do a transcription of jacob collier's cover of best part!!!
Anyone else hear a really faint line higher up going C (Very flat)-D-B in Bar 36? at 2:08
Damn.
Why didn't you transcribe Tori's humming at 0:27?
He should transcribe Anomalies music!
Benjamin Mjönes hahaha that wouldn't take him more than 5 minutes
Anomalie actually already does that. Check out his merch page and you'll see where he's selling full online transcriptions of his first album
Hi ! Thanks for this awesome jobs !! A little recommandation, maybe you could put the name of chords, if you can do this i think it should not be really hard for you... I don't know maybe it's really annoying to do but i think it can really bring another dimension to those transcription ! thanks a lot
A lot of Jacob's chords you can't really put a name on. Especially the microtonal ones. But yeah for the chord that do have names, it would be interesting to see the names there.
1:57 There is some sort of transition between those two chords, but it's damn impossible to reverse-engineer it.
bar 11 he defo sang the high F. yuleTIDE
okay you are god
zamn
At :28, she’s humming. You forgot to put that part in. Starting on G3. So it’d be GAGFA GAG (trill) F. Sorry lol
Are you interested in doing Anomalie one?
I click on your videos faster than anyone else.
A MAZ ING
So Fast!!
WHO DISLIKED!?
Very difficulty - create of this, more hardy - transcript of this
jesus christ ,june arent human ,so as jacob
Almost the Lick at 1:38, that can't be an accident...
1:37 lick
I respect how well technically brilliant Jacob's harmonies are, and I like a lot of his music, but sometimes I feel like he's being needlessly complex at the cost of the music being pleasant to listen to.
To my ears, a lot of this is just indiscriminate cluster chords which leaves little or no harmonic pleasure or direction. Not my favourite.
I agree up to a point, but this sounds so lush, I'm not complaining!
haha gay
