I am so moved by this video. Your lace curtain of love is truly an inspired work! It honors the crochet work of the hands of generations past in a unique way. The icing on the cake is that you incorporate pieces created by your mother of blessed memory! I am so cheered by this video. So glad I “met” you!
What a Nice job! Thanks for sharing! I would separate the squares from the rounded pieces and make a courtain either with squares or with rounded ones together. Just my oppinion. But I love the Idea of recuperatig the pieces from the flea market.
This is so beautiful it almost makes me emotional. You took the warmth of so many hands and brought it to your home. Maybe many of them are not alive anymore but part of their energy live in your house and passing their creativity to you and to us through videos. Finding works of your moms hands is so special, I have few pieces from my grandmother and mother and sometimes I wonder if my kids would keep what I do, or donate them to thrift store.
Thank you so much, happy that you like the curtain! Oh I hope that your kids will always want to keep the pieces from your mother and grandmother. Maybe you could frame them?
I'm in love with your curtain! It's so heartwarming to see the old crocheted laces being given new life, it was gut-wrenching to see that pile of projects ready for the recycling machine, yipes! You did a beautiful job putting them all together, what a gorgeous curtain!
I love how your curtain turned out 😊. My mom still has crocheted doilies & embroidery left to her from my Finnish grandma.💕 My mother & grandmother first taught me to crochet at age 8. It was very heartwarming that you remembered you had pieces left from your mother & were able to incorporate them into the beautiful curtain.🧶💕 So glad to have found your channel.😊
This brought me to tears, there must be so many stories woven into these beautiful pieces of crochet. Thank you for showing us this true labour of love. My grandmother died leaving loads of incomplete projects, crochet, knitting, embroidery and tatting, all of which I have inherited when mum died recently. All projects are wrapped up individually in paper, all with the yarns, threads, hooks, shuttles and patterns, some handwritten. You have encouraged me to get them out and try to finish them and see how i can display them. Some of the patterns have 1950`s dates on them. These things are so precious 🥰
Your curtain is beautiful! Thank you for sharing it with us. I got a bit emotional when you found the pieces made by your mother. What a lovely memorial to her. 💜
OH MY! OH MY! WONDERFULLY BEAUTIFUL‼️💗 And SO PRECIOUS having your mother’s crochet squares incorporated in this marvelous project. Thank You so VERY MUCH for taking us with you on your journey making this gorgeous curtain. When I was learning different crochet stitches , I took on the project of an afghan with 63 different squares in white and ecru cotton yarn. And like you, while I was in process with this afghan, I found items made by my dear mother who had died many years before: a couple of her ecru cotton dish clothes that my mother crocheted, and one that she had knitted. It was amazing that these found items were exactly the same size square as the 63 squares that I was crocheting. Also like you , I included them in my project. My heart was and continues to be deeply touched with joy because my mother’s precious squares are a part of my afghan of 63 square different squares.
That curtain is so beautiful. I love that you found some of your mother's pieces to incorporate into it. So happy you were able to rescue so many doilies.
It turned out perfect 💖 It is so, so beautiful and needed a lot of patience to do it ready. Lot of designing and sewing. And there are, like a cherry on the top of the cake, your mother's beautiful crochet works. They makes it special. Your curtain contains many works crocheted by unknown hands with their own secret stories. You created your own story from those.
So glad you saved these amazing pieces and found your Mother's squares to add. This curtain is so beautiful. A great video to encourage others to find and save such items. I recently remarried on August 15th and while making my bed for my wedding night, I found a set of pillowcase with beautiful purple embroidered flowers my grandma had made. God bless you have a great day or night.
Love the pattern your mom was making. ❤ Love the curtain too! A way to recycle crochet that's even better and greener for the environment. :) ❤ And a way to save pretty pieces with memories attached to some. 😢❤
Wow ! That came out stunning ! Beautiful work ! I'm so glad you added some of your mother's pieces ! I loved watching you do all of this . Your hard work was really worth it !
This is a brilliant idea! Love how it turned out! Beautiful! So special that you had some of your mom’s work to add into your project. Really enjoying your videos.
Beautiful ideas, thank you. Yes, i have transformed a vaby blanket into a cardigan for my daughter, a few of them, actually. I've made many bags and shopping sags, from small crocheted of knitted items. Also, I've purchased lace pieces snd made stylish pillows casee. As well as marking amigurumi, like pumpkins from small crocheted rectangle properties, or unfinished itens i buy from the marketplace. At tge end of tve day, i love to crochete and knit myself, so i do purchase yarnvfrom a second hand stores, i have a friend who runs a tatto shop, she lets me do the yarn sterilization in her autoclave. 😊. I teach crochet for free, teens in truble, i love seeingtge joy in their fac when they, themselves help others, such a beautiful thing to see and be a part of. It's so much fun watching you. Thankfully i foundyoyr channel, you'rea kind person to learnfrom. ❤.

As I was cleaning my house this week, I kept thinking "I can't wait to see how her curtain turned out!" It's so lovely! Thank you for sharing this. I am inspired. Jesus loves you ❤
Lovely to see these pieces get some love again! I was recently going through my grandmother's crochet projects together with her and she had some of her mother's as well, with which she at times didn't know what to do with, this (in a smaller project) would be a great idea! Will definitely be sharing it with her
@@TuulaMaaria I’m sorry for your name not being spelled correctly, I typed in Tuula, but autocorrect apparently renamed you, I’ll take notice of that in the future. Love your channel, I have learned a lot from you, thank you again. 💕
I was waiting for this video to come out, and I'm so happy with how it looks! It's also nice that when you look at this curtain, there will be thoughts and memories about the makers of those little pieces that you can ponder and enjoy. Lovely!
I am so glad I discovered your video. Your curtain is truly stunning!! I have “miles” of crochet pieces and tatted items from my husband’s Aunt (now deceased); and other lacy crochet pieces I have salvaged over the years. I could never part with them but did not know what to do with them. Your video has given me a way to use these lovely pieces and honor those who so lovingly created them so long ago. Thank you.
Thank you! Lovely that you have so many crochet pieces! There are also some other things you could use them for like a tablecloth or a bedspread. Enjoy using them 💗
I love the way the sun comes through your curtain and all the different patterns. Have you considered, coaster sized rounds to join the pieces where there are gaps due to matching odd sides, so the curtain hangs and flows more uniformly? I understand that you made it for boho look, but just wondered. So wonderful that you gave all these recycled pieces, and your mother’s pieces a new and beautiful rebirth!
Thank you! I might ad more pieces to it over time although the holes don't bother me at all 😊 I got really short of time finishing it, having said that I would publish today!
@@TuulaMaaria It looks great! And you have to be commended for sewing it all together by hand! I thought you might be joining these pieces with crochet stitches, and understandably that would have added considerable time to the project, as well. The piecing and placement is beautiful and the segments themselves have beautiful handcrafted designs. It is a beautiful modern way to preserve and recycle crochet of yesteryears!
How wonderful that you have some of your Mother’s work! My Mom was quite an accomplished embroiderer. I don’t have anything from her sadly. This curtain turned out lovely! You’re very creative.
What a wonderful work of love! Very creative and beautiful. Other than your Mom's gorgeous work, you do not know who made each piece. But you honor each of them by preserving their work in your piece of art!
Tula you have done the most beautiful work with the different crochet doilies and squares, rectangles and circles. You are very inventive. I really enjoyed your video. Take care and thank you. The curtain looks wonderful ❤
Came here from Just Vintage Crochet! Oh this was sweet and sentimental. Like other I learned from my mom and have been crocheting all my life. I have some table goods that my grandmother made in Poland. She grew the flax, spun it then did weaving with crochet. This made me cry. This is a terrific project. So great that you have textile recycling. Wow! I wish we had that. Thanks for sharing this 😊
Oh my! It looks wonderful! Well worth all the effort, and a very inspiring project. Love the fact that you could use some of your Mum's crochet work in it. It must mean so much to you. x
You did a fantastic job, when you were describing what you had planned it seemed strange , but the finished Curtin is wonderful, you have given a new life to all of the lace work. Thinking of the hands and the many hours of work to make that lovely lace of which they were no doubt so proud must make you very happy every time you look at it.
Here I only use cotton threads, wool yarns are too hot for Brazilian weather. This curtain seems like a collection of bits and pieces of memories. I do have lots of bits and pieces that my aunt used to crochê. You have just given me the idea of making a table cloth with the ones I have! I love your videos and the interaction you have with people that reply to you! ❤❤❤❤
Thank you! That is a lovely idea to make a tablecloth of the pieces you have! I'm trying to answer all comments, wonder how long I manage to do that 😊 It would be lovely to talk more with the people from all over the world that write comments!
I was getting a bit teary watching this. How lovely to be able to include your mother's squares in this project. They were so lovely when sewn together. There is also a bit of mystery with the misshapen piece. A story there that we will probably never know (unless the person who made it happens to watch this and tells you 😄) Thank you so much for sharing this. 🥰
Thank you for sharing! Yes, most likely I will never know but you are right, now that the doily is out there in public, maybe someone will recognise it one day!
@@justvintagecrochet Thank you so much for sharing! I have watched many of your videos on my other account, now subscribed with this main account too. I didn't notice who posted when I first answered the comment!
Congratulations Tuula! I've been watching your channel with great pleasure. You are so creative and passionate about your job. The vintage curtain is really impressive. You must have spent many hours to make it. But the result is spectacular. You can be very proud of yourself.
What a lovely idea. I love old pieces of craft it's almost possible to 'feel' the persons mood as they made the item. The effort, care & skill that went into the finished product makes me want to 'rescue' all these things 😊 construction
this is such an amazing project, from the conception of it to its completion. You are so creative, patient and sweet to share it with us. I love the finished curtain!
The curtain is so beautiful! I heard about you and your video on the Just Vintage Crochet RUclips channel. The host of the channel was right, It is a beautiful way to display crochet work. I wish I could do that, but I have cats and they would tear the curtains to shreds. But, maybe I can make small squares and have them framed. I have many crochet pieces I inherited from my grandmother and aunt. I think this would be a wonderful way to honor them. Thank you for this video.
I absolutely love how your curtain turned out. What a wonderful use of those pieces. You honor those who put that hard work into their pieces. You’ve created such a wonderful piece of art. Adding the squares from your Mother just made it so much more special. I have a lot of pieces made by the women in my family that are now gone. I think this project may be in my future. If not a curtain, perhaps just a wall hanging. Thank you so much for sharing your process and ideas. Cheers from FL😺
Thank you so much! Lovely that you have pieces made by members of your family 💗 There are many things they can be used for - also a bedspread or a selection of cushions. I'm sure you will find what works best for you!
@@TuulaMaaria Thank you for the suggestions. All are great possibilities! I also have a lot of gorgeous embroidery work from Great Aunts in Denmark that have since passed. I’ve kept them safe for many decades, but they’ve been hidden away. I think I need to put them in some sort of display so I can enjoy them daily. Thanks to your genius idea tapping me in the head!😂 Cheers from FL😺
I am so happy to have found this! I want to do something similar but wasn't sure how to join them. This turned out so beautiful. It will bring years of pleasure for you seeing your mothers along with all the others work in front of you every day. So much better than stashed in a drawer.
Greetings from Texas. Your curtain is a labor of love, history, and amazing art. Its wonderful that you are a visionary and were able to painstakingly salvage these beautiful doilies and design a new purpose for them. The shades of white doilies remind me of my abuela (Spanish for grandmother) who was a master crocheter like you. I wish I had been able to save some of her creations, but many were lost as we moved around. Please show us how you wash them. My grandmother use to starch them with a mixture she made herself. Then she would soak them, I don't know how long, finally she would iron them. They were so beautiful. Also could you tell us more about Textile Recycle Center? I have never heard of such a thing. Thank you so much for sharing your gift and talent with us.
Wonderful that you saved all these heirloom crochet pieces. You have a creative mind and the patience of a saint. Lol. You remind me of my Mother, her ingenuity was amazing. TFS
I am so inspired by this video. I recently vame navk home to look after my ailing Mother and saw do many pieces of my crochet work that completed almost 40 years ago. Thank you sharing your idea to preserve my memories.
My heart in mind are screaming and crying that these lovely pieces were going to... 0h! Ican't even say it! I wish I could watch a tutorial on each piece do each of them in recreation. Crocheting is my "happy place".
Yes, it is a pity so much crochet keeps getting thrown out. I learned to crochet by just looking at photos so it would be easy to replicate any of these laces, maybe I will do that with the prettiest ones!
@@TuulaMaaria , oh yes, oh yes! Plz❣❣ Edit to add: so far i can only follow a pattern. Although i did do an Elsa's sister dress from the movie for my grandaughters' doll. No pattern that time!
I CAN’T WAIT TO MAKE ONE. You’re curtain is gorgeous and so unique. Absolutely love it. I crochet and have quite a few pieces to use. Thanks so much for your video. Wish I had a recycling plant like that near me! LOL
It turned out really beautifully💜adding something your Mother made makes it more important N full of memories. Thanks for sharing with us all this. Take Care N Stay Blessed❣️
I love your curtain. Your mum's squares are what we would say... the icing on the cake... a special part of the curtain. You have given me thoughts. Because my curtain will be on the sunny western side I think I will overlap mine so not as much light comes in. Also I will choose doilies that are crocheted closer together, again so a spot of sunlight doesn't hit your eye while you are trying to watch TV. haha
Thanks so much! 😊 That is a great idea, to take the sun into consideration! You could also have a fabric lining on the doilies although then they wouldn't show as clearly!
@@TuulaMaaria Actually Tuula that's not a bad idea. A lining. I could get some light weight sheer fabric and mount the doilies on that. A neutral shade would probably show up the doilies patterns. Then it wouldn't matter if the doilies had a more open design. I think, after seeing your beautiful curtain and me all inspired, it's time to get Aunty's doilies out of the cupboard and show case them.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful way to preserve someone’s legacy! I have been debating with curtains for my apartment patio doors. You have helped solve the issue. 🥰 I am on the hunt for crochet doilies and other crochet treasures. I have a few of my own that I may use as well.
I saw in a catalog or magazine or online that someone made a duster out of crocheted doilies. I have a tablecloth that my grandmother made that as much as I love it as a tablecloth, I don't entertain, my house isn't large enough, we don't even have a dining room. With something made from it, I still get to enjoy it. I'm thinking the top portion of cafe curtains because I have cats who would love nothing more than to shred it. We shall see. 😊
10:10 Tuula, you have certainly captured the boho affect with your shabby chic curtain! I truly love your piecing this together and that you captured what you set out to do. I have many pieces created by my family alone but still not enough to make the one I had imagined. I also wonder what happened with the misshapen piece, perhaps a mother started it, then started again years later to finish, so many things could have been the cause. Enjoy your treasured piece and smile from all the hands that touched the fiber you admire every day. Cheers from Diane 🎉
What a charming creation and wonder about all the crochet stories behind the pieces. Thank you for preserving all their hard work done I’m sure with love.
I very much enjoyed watching your video! The concept and uniqueness, the way you executed the final design is delightful! And most importantly, there is ( and never will be!) NO other like it! One of a kind! Thank you, sincerely 😘🙏😊⚘ You've made my day!

A lot of work on your part, too, but beautiful. I have wanted to crochet my own curtains, but a lot of work, and this is another good idea! 👍

It turned out so beautiful & you are giving the pieces a new lease of life. 👏👏❤️❤️🇬🇧
Thank you!
I love how you were able to add your mother’s hand crocheted pieces.
💗
Oh my gosh, I just love that! , and I really love that you were able to add your mother's work to it, how special :)
Thank you so much!
@@TuulaMaaria you’re welcome, I shared you wonderful video on my community post 🤗, I hope more people do what you did here ❤️
@@justvintagecrochet Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much! I really should have counted the hours this took but forgot! I know it is at least 30!
So lovely and wonderful to incorporate Your Mom’s work. Very inspiring!
Thank you so much!
What a lovely idea. I love old pieces of craft it's almost possible to 'feel' the persons mood as they made the item. The effort, care & skill that went into the finished product makes me want to 'rescue' all these things 😊 construction
So true!
this is such an amazing project, from the conception of it to its completion. You are so creative, patient and sweet to share it with us. I love the finished curtain!
Thank you so much!
It was lovely of the Just Vintage Crochet to share this! Some people have made just short curtains for kitchen windows, then cats don't reach!
What a work of art and love. ❤️❤️❤️
This is absolutely beautiful! What a lovely thing to add your mother's pieces into it! Thank you so much for the tips! 🙏💜
Great, thank you! 💗
You're soo right, my Mother in law is having a hard time seeing. I look for easy projects for her. This ones for me! I want to make a bedroom closet ❤
Sounds great!
Thank you so much! Hope you get to make something with a similar idea 😊 I love seeing my curtain every day!
I have wanted to do a curtian like that in forever. Thank you for the video! I love it!❤
Thank you so much, hope you will make one! 💗
BEAUTIFUL I love your work. It is a lovely idea. Congratulations!!! 🏵🌹🥀🌺🌻🌼🌷🌸💮
Thank you so much! 💗🌹
TFS
Thank you! Patience is actually something that has come little by little with the years, I wasn't patient when I was young 😄
This is such a unique project! Thank you for showing it to us and encouraging others to be creative in new ways.
Thank you so much!
Wow. That looks so wonderfully, so beautiful, so nice. I want it on my window... 😄
Thank you! You can make one for yourself! 💗
I am so glad you were able to add pieces that uour mom made to the design.
Yes, that was special!
Tuula, you are amazing and wonderfully inspiring. Thank you for sharing you talents & imagination with us❣️
Thank you so much!
Your lace curtain turned out Beautifully, Thank you for sharing with us. xx
Thank you so much!
Éxcelente trabajo. Bonito homenaje a tantas personas que crearon bellezas. Me ha emocionado❤
It turned out so pretty... You're a very clever lady. I'm so pleased for you that you also used some of your mother's crochet. ❤😊
Thank you! Yes, I love having some of my mother's crochet in them! I also have a rug in my kitchen that she wove.
I am so inspired by this video. I recently vame navk home to look after my ailing Mother and saw do many pieces of my crochet work that completed almost 40 years ago. Thank you sharing your idea to preserve my memories.
Wonderful! You can use those pieces to make something new!
My heart in mind are screaming and crying that these lovely pieces were going to... 0h! Ican't even say it!
I wish I could watch a tutorial on each piece do each of them in recreation. Crocheting is my "happy place".
Mine too. 😊
Yes, it is a pity so much crochet keeps getting thrown out. I learned to crochet by just looking at photos so it would be easy to replicate any of these laces, maybe I will do that with the prettiest ones!
@@TuulaMaaria , oh yes, oh yes! Plz❣❣
Edit to add: so far i can only follow a pattern. Although i did do an Elsa's sister dress from the movie for my grandaughters' doll. No pattern that time!
You are so sweet. I love every single idea you share. Thanks so much for everything.
Thank you so much, all the best! 💗🌸
I CAN’T WAIT TO MAKE ONE. You’re curtain is gorgeous and so unique. Absolutely love it. I crochet and have quite a few pieces to use. Thanks so much for your video. Wish I had a recycling plant like that near me! LOL
Thank you! 😊 Enjoy making your curtain!
Beautiful, absolutely very beautiful
Thank you! 💗
Wow! What a good idea, and how special to include some of your mother's beautiful work. Very inspiring.
Thank you so much!
It turned out really beautifully💜adding something your Mother made makes it more important N full of memories.
Thanks for sharing with us all this.
Take Care N Stay Blessed❣️
Thank you! Yes, I love having things from my parents around my home 💗
You could also have a
fabric lining on the doilies although then they wouldn't show as clearly!
Yes, do that, will look lovely! 💗
I absolutely love this. I have been collecting doilies for years now and will add this to my list of things to make with them. Awesome job!
Wonderful! Great that you have collected many!
Tuula, you did a fantastic job, So proud of you. You are one amazing lady. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
I have a few already from family . Thank you
Thank you for sharing this wonderful way to preserve someone’s legacy! I have been debating with curtains for my apartment patio doors. You have helped solve the issue. 🥰 I am on the hunt for crochet doilies and other crochet treasures. I have a few of my own that I may use as well.
Wonderful! Hope you find doilies and other things to use! Enjoy the project! 💗
Good ideas!
I love it. I had no idea what to do with all my grandmother and great-grandmothers doilies. Thanks for this inspiration 😊🙏
Great, you can make something similar 💗
What a wonderful idea! Such a great way to save a piece of crochet history. I love it!!❤❤
Thank you! 😊

Tuula, you have certainly captured the boho affect with your shabby chic curtain! I truly love your piecing this together
and that you captured what you set out to do.
Thank you Diane! True, could be that the misshapen piece was done at different times - or even by 2 different people!
What a charming creation and wonder about all the crochet stories behind the pieces. Thank you for preserving all their hard work done I’m sure with love.
Thank you! Yes, it is lovely now to have work by so many people in my living room!
I very much enjoyed watching your video! The concept and uniqueness, the way you executed the final design is delightful! And most importantly, there is ( and never will be!) NO other like it! One of a kind! Thank you, sincerely 😘🙏😊⚘ You've made my day!
Thank you so much! 💗 You are right, there certainly won't be another one just like it, even if i tried to make one myself! Happy crocheting!
How beautiful! I love all the light shining through showing all the variety of lacy patterns. I always have wondered what to do with round doilies, and this is a great answer! A lot of work on your part, too, but beautiful. I have wanted to crochet my own curtains, but a lot of work, and this is another good idea! 👍
Thank you! Yes, this was a lot of work but still much less than crocheting a whole curtain 😊
Thanks for sharing this beautiful project, I have a lot of doilies made by my mom and grandmothers I might try this to make a covering on my kitchen window. ❤
That is a lovely idea!
Absolutely beautiful ❤ we can buy at thrift stores but I wish we had a textile recycling center. Could possibly be a lot cheaper to purchase and possibly less in landfills!
Thank you! Yes, it's sad how much good stuff ends up in landfills!
That is lovely. What a beautiful idea. I am inspired. Thank you!
So glad! 👍
Oh, Tuula❤
This is a beautiful video. I has touched my heart to see your lovely work and the special pieces you've so carefully sewed together.❤ Love, Love.❤ It looks amazing ❤ so gentle.
Thank you so much! 💗
Nice video of using your mums crochet squares in the thrifted curtain.
Thank you, yes, I was glad I remembered those squares by my mother!
It's absolutely beautiful and your calm voice and teaching approach was so nice!
Thank you, glad you think so!
I couldn't picture this. But it looked amazingly beautiful. Thank you!
Thank you! 😊
Your project is beautiful, Your mom did beautiful work .
Thank you!
Such a lovely idea❤
Absolutely amazing what you’ve done!!!
