Five weird tales set at sea...
0:00:00 - THE OCEAN OGRE (Dana Carroll)
0:25:22 - THE VOICE IN THE NIGHT (William Hope Hodgson)
    0:54:21 - THE TEMPLE (H. P. Lovecraft)

1:57:37 - THREE SKELETON KEY (George G. Toudouze)
    Bandcamp link: horrorbabble.bandcamp.com/alb...
"The Ocean Ogre" by American author Dana Carroll, first appeared in Weird Tales Magazine in July 1937. The story, told through a series of journal entries, tells of a ship stranded at sea, and of the stranger who came to its aid.
"The Voice in the Night" by William Hope Hodgson, tells of a schooner at sea, approached in the middle of the night by a small rowboat. The passenger aboard the boat, who refuses to bring his boat close alongside and requests that the sailors on the schooner put away their lanterns, tells a disturbing tale.
"The Temple" is a short story written by H. P. Lovecraft in 1920, and first published in the pulp magazine Weird Tales #24 in September 1925. The story is narrated as a "found manuscript" penned by Karl Heinrich, Graf von Altberg-Ehrenstein, a lieutenant-commander in the Imperial German Navy during the days of World War I. Altberg begins by declaring that he has decided to document the events leading up to his untimely end in order to "set certain facts" before the public, aware that he will not survive to do so himself.
"The Uncharted Isle" by Clark Ashton Smith, first appeared in the November 1930 issue of Weird Tales Magazine. The tale tells of a sailor lost at sea, who happens upon an island previously unknown to man.
"Three Skeleton Key" by French author, George G. Toudouze, tells of a lighthouse keeper's terrifying ordeal whilst stationed at a remote light on the infamous rock, Three Skeleton Key.

I notice a lot of people in the comments particularly enjoyed story no 2, William Hope Hodgson's, A Voice In The Night. Therefore I wanted to reccomend that people read William Hope Hodgson's novel, The Boats of the Glen Carrig , the book that originally features the island of the grey fungus.
It's my favourite lost at Sea horror adventure tale. The strange island lands and weird Sargasso seas the survivors in the boats of the Glen Carrig encounter are populated with monstrous dangers . It's a truly fantastic story and in Chapter 2 they come across " The land of Loneliness "which is a haunted low flat muddy island overgrown with a cabbage like shrubbery & occasional strange short trees of a fungal growth.
It's a must read and I would love to hear Ian read it There is only a Libravox version on RUclips at the moment but it's not badly done if anyone is interested.

I'm fascinated with sea stories also. I recently read "H.M.S. Ulysses," by Alastair MacLean - it's about a British convoy to Murmansk during WWII. It's not horror, except, well, it is. Very, very good, and evidently quite true-to-life. I can barely fathom the level of heroism and courage required for that sort of journey.

For anyone like me out there, not familiar with the term poop deck here's an excerpt from Wikipedia:
In naval architecture, a poop deck is a deck that forms the roof of a cabin built in the rear, or "aft", part of the superstructure of a ship.[1]
The name originates from the French word for stern, la poupe, from Latin puppis. Thus the poop deck is technically a stern deck, which in sailing ships was usually elevated as the roof of the stern or "after" cabin, also known as the "poop cabin". On sailing ships, the helmsman would steer the craft from the quarter deck, immediately in front of the poop deck. At the stern, the poop deck provides an elevated position ideal for observation.[2]
So you won't be getting any different ideas :''D

"GREEN ISLAND GHOSTS"....Once a friend and I were sailing Moreton bay when we decided to stop at a small uninhabited island named Green island. There's nothing there except mangrove and a tiny beach, which we explored after beaching the boat. I told my friend about 2 convicts that had escaped to green island years ago only to find no water and no way off. The authorities new they were there, leaving them there to die of thirst. Just then we were both overcome by such an eerie feeling we quickly ran back to the boat. But to our total shock the boat was now about 10 metres offshore 'UNMANNED". The boat then turned and took off on a perfect tack heading for the mainland. Luckily eventually we got the attention of a nearby fisherman with an ear piercing whistle. He not only rescued us but helped us catch the boat, which was still on a perfect tack heading strait for the mainland, unmanned. The ghosts of green island stole my boat. Freaky!

U 29 must have already been a ghost boat in 1917, having been sent to the bottom in 1915 by HMS Dreadnought.
