Oh snap. I'm seeing a top 5 album already.
Necrotic Nick- Well that's a good sign and this is just the start.
I don't know if it says more about the total releases this year or about the album in question but the fact that Enforced isn't higher than 26 speaks volumes to the quality of 2023's output in my opinion.
Necrotic Nick- I think it speaks to the quality of the albums this year because War Remains is a banger for sure but this year was chock full of bangers. I'm curious if 2024 can even match it lol.
Fantastic call on the Church of Misery album. I missed that one. I listened to it 6 times yesterday! INCREDIBLE album overflowing with bangers and riffs. MUST listen!!!
Some killer releases making your top 40 - i still haven't checked out Voivod's newest release yet and you sold me on Birdflesh - the album cover alone is awesome 😂 🤘

Necrotic Nick- Quite the variety here.
Also props to the Gorod inclusion! Was great seeing you at that show, too. Check out more of their stuff, I love pretty much all their albums.
I met Vince Locke (CC artist) and he was so cool. Got to hear him talk about working on the Violence Unimagined cover and his work on comics.
Necrotic Nick- Dude, that show was so fucking good. That level of precision is mind blowing to me. Even the dudes from Flub who were standing next to us during Gorod's set were saying it blows them away every time Gorod plays on that tour. That's badass you got to meet Locke. That dude is a legend. I may need to check out his comics one of these days.
@@thrallsofmetal yeah, Gorod were one of the tightest bands I've seen live. Makes me proud to be French, hahaha.
I should read some of Vince's concise too. He showed some early covers, and all of them could be a CC album cover. It's awesome.
It is so weird seen Nick hold a vinyl for once, especially in a year end list..
Thank you so much for these videos Necrotic Nick! You guys make my days a little better with this channel
Necrotic Nick- Hey! Thank you so much. Without the fans we'd just be talking to ourselves so thank you for all the support.
Idk if youre including live albums...but the new Bodom live album is a gift from the metal gods and would absolutely love a breakdown guys. Goosebumps the whole album. Bodom Beach Terror is the SoTY. Fight me.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, I only include studio releases on these. Again, live albums are more of an honorable mention thing but I really don't pick up live albums very often.
This is definitely the time of year I load my Bandcamp wishlist. Plenty of stuff for me to check out on this list! Thanks for the content.
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, I'm kinda doing the same watching other people's lists this year lol.
BACTERIAL HUSK...Holy moly they sound incredible!!
Necrotic Nick- That debut absolutely smokes. I'm already stoked to hear more from them in the future.
Great list NN! Thank you for what you do sir.
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man!
Great list there are definitely a few bands on this list that I need to check out. I can't wait to see 25 to 1.
Necrotic Nick- Hey! Thanks, Ben! Yeah, this was a buffet of bangers this year. Top 10 is up tomorrow. I hope you find some more stuff you dig in the other videos as well, man!
Thanks for all the great content this year as usual. My list would be
26. Haken - Fauna
27. Suffocation - Hymns From The Apocrypha
28. Blut Aus Nord - Disharmonium - Nahab
29. Bell Witch - The Clandestine Gate
30. Dorthia Cottrell - Death Folk Country
31. Baroness - Stone
32. Moonlight Sorcery - Horned Lord Of The Thorned Castle
33. Autopsy - Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts
34. Blackbriar - A Dark Euphony
35. Obituary - Dying Of Everything
36. Sulphur Aeon - Seven Crowns and Seven Seals
37. Saturnus - The Storm Within
38. Kalmah - Kalmah
39. Kommodus - Wreath Of Bleeding Snowfall
40. Carnifex - Necromanteum
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Nice list so far. We definitely have some overlap but you've definitely got some I didn't check out too.
New kalmah rules. Been begging for a sniff or a whisper of this band on here for a long time. Nice to see I'm not the only one.
Mutoid man and Crypta are my coinflip for AOTY. Serve the Untrue from Kalmah is Song of the Year. Kalmah honorable mention. MM bass player got the damn shingles and they postponed their US east coast tour. Everyone should read the press release from the band. Its epic. As an old head i love the Prong and Obituary albums. Strong releases from epic childhood bands hit the nostalgia target for sure.
Necrotic Nick- Well Mutoid Man was a top 3 album for me but Crypta didn't quite make it. If I did a top 50 they definitely would have been on there though. I'm eventually going to snag the new Kalmah and cover it in a collection update. I didn't know Mutoid Man were going to tour but when they're healthy I'd love to go see them live. I still need to see Cave In live too so hopefully they do another round of touring as well.
The only "Best of 2023" list that I genuinely looked forward to, and of course, doesn't disappoint!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man!
That Bacterial Husk…wow!!! That one blew me away too man 🤘thanks for the intro 🙌
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, that one snuck on to my list late. The variety of killer riffs on that album is so damn cool and the songwriting is tight as hell. Great new band. Glad you dug them!
i'd never heard of Bacterial Husk. absolutely incredible. it weirdly feels so fresh without really being fresh. it's like you said Nick...songwriting is tight as hell, great transitions. @@thrallsofmetal
I am so, so glad to see that Holocene grew on you. The Ocean quickly rose up my "Favorite bands of all time" list and Holocene helped with that.
Necrotic Nico-k- Yeah, I am too. It's really a solid album and thematically I was really drawn into the lyrics. Very one the nose about a lot stuff I see in the world.
This was a rough year, so much good music. I have a top 30, could easily go top 80. (not ranked yet)
...AND OCEANS - As in Gardens, so in Tombs
Aodon - Portraits
Bastard Grave - Vortex Of Disgust
Blut aus Nord - Disharmonium: Nahab
Conjureth - The Parasitic Chambers
Crypta - Shades of Sorrow
Darkher - the Buried Storm
Death Portrait - Morbid Curiosity
Hasard - Malivore
Horrendous - Ontological Mysterium
Lamp of Murmuur - Saturnian Bloodstorm
Mithridatum - Harrowing
Nightmarer - Deformity Adrift
Obsidyen - Litany of Iah
Orphans of Dusk - Spleen
Predatory Void - Seven Keys To The Discomfort Of Being
Profeci - Ubóstwo
Sulphur Aeon - Seven Crowns and Seven Seals
Teitan - In Oculus Abyss
Thantifaxath - Hive Mind Narcosis
the Mosaic Window - Plight of Acceptance

Thy Catafalque - Alföld
TOMB MOLD - The Enduring Spirit

Ulthar - Helionomicon
Ulthar - Anthronomicon
Splits and EPS
Dream Unending and Worm - Starpath
Lunar Chamber - Shambhallic Vibrations
Pestifer - Defeat of the Nemesis
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, I thought about doing a top 50 this year but I chose to stick with the format that I have and did 40. I see some familiar ones on here for sure but there's a lot of bands on here I've never heard of which is cool. This definitely gives me some stuff to check out later.
@@thrallsofmetal All worth checking out, and considering your tastes, you should give that death portrait album a shot, it's pretty amazing, sizzling hot leads across the whole thing, catchy riffs, it's a fun death album.
A Voivod discography ranking would be cool.
Necrotic Nick- I'm definitely down to do that one eventually.
Cool shirt man. I actually have the same one.
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man!
Definitely enjoyed some of your progressive choices on this section... Gorod (amazing live, as you've noted), Tomb Mold... and of course Godthrymm hits like a falling tower. Not as big of a fan of some of the grind choices, not that those are bad albums. I found a lot more to enjoy from Suffering Quota, Bandit (real Pig Destroyer type stuff), and Gridlink (straight up LISTER) this year.
And that The Ocean album didn't do anything for me either, though I'd say Precambrian is probably my favorite of theirs. I really like when they have more of that hardcore/sludge attitude forward. I feel like the band Autarkh is growing in that direction with their weird take on industrial metal. They had a new one this year too, Emergent, one of my favorites!
I peeked ahead so that I didn't recommend anything you listed later. I look forward to the listens. Your commentary is great, especially on death metal. Stay heavy!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! I my opinion Gorod rarely misses and I really like the chances that Tomb Mold took on their new album. I was a huge fan of Godthrymms debut but I think this new one even blows that away. I didn't get to jam Bandit or Suffering Quota but I did really enjoy the new Gridlink and the new Organ Dealer as well. I just didn't have room for them. The Ocean took a bit to grow on me but I loved it. It's definitely different from most of their catalog but I love the more chill vibe and the lyrical themes really drew me more into it.
Good shit, Nick. Gave me a few albums to check out!
That Enforced album is incredible. And the old guard put out some amazing stuff this year.
Necrotic Nick- I hope you end up enjoying those albums as much as I did, man! Enforced just flat out rip and War Remains pretty much captures that live viciousness they have. Yeah, this was a hell of a year for all the old school death metal fans. Fucking banner year!
Cool list i added a few of them to my library.that bachterial husk is awesome
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, Bacterial Husk was a later entry. I became hooked on that album since I got it.
Merry Christmas to all Of thralls of metal be safe.
Necrotic Nick- Happy Holidays, bro!
Some great albums on this list, especially Memoriam, Church Of Misery and Enforced, if those bangers only just crack your top 40, i cant wait to see what ranked higher!
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, this year was incredible for metal in my opinion. All of these albums really impressed the hell out of me this year. Still plenty more to come.
I listened to 150 albums or more this year. Hopefully your list will ruin my top albums list!
Necrotic Nick- Man, I don't know if I can even put a number on the amount of albums I jammed this year. It feels like this year was even busier than last year in terms of releases and honestly it was hell putting this list together because of the buffet of killer releases this year.
Asinhell -Impii Hora is my personal AOTY old school death metal banger
Necrotic Nick- I still need to pick that one up. I'll probably cover it in a collection update at some point.
The guy from Volbeat going back to his death metal routes the song writing arrangement is incredible and having on vocals ex Morgoth Marc Grewe was a masterstroke
Love lists like this, it gives me more music to check out. Glad I joined this year, can't wait to see what you guys do in 2024, I'm sure you heard, Hulder, just announced a new album, I already love it. Hulder's one of my favorite bands!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! I always love hearing that people are finding out about killer albums and bands through the channel. That'll always be one of favorite kinds of comments to see. I did see Hulder had a new track out as well as new ones from Necrophobic, Spectral Voice and Borknagar so next year is already looking good.
Fantastic List so far Nick!!
An absolute Killer Year for Death Metal Fans!
Looking forward to part two!
💀🤘💀🤘💀🤘
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man!
This year had so many amazing albums and this list was insanely hard to make and easily could've made it 100.

27. Angra - Cycles of Pain (Progressive Power Metal)
26. Thy Catafalque - Alföld (Avant-garde Black Metal)
Necrotic Nick- I almost did a top 50 but I choose to stick my usual format. I definitely see a lot of albums that would've occupied that extra 10 spots here too. Solid list, man!
Some great picks. Good to see Rotten Sound on there. Feel it has been overlooked. I was one of those who didn't really take to the Tomb Mold, but mainly because it didn't go far enough. I wanted another Cynic, basically.
Necrotic Nick- I've been a Rotten Sound fan since Exit and being a huge Nasum fan that probably makes total sense lol. Yeah, I didn't have a lot of grindcoire releases that blew me away outside of Birdflesh, Rotten Sound, Organ Dealer, GrindLink and Noisey Neighbors tis year but I thought those were quality albums.
@@thrallsofmetal Yeah, Organ Dealer was great. As was Gridlink.
Amazing year for Metal! 🤘🤘🤘
Necrotic Nick- Agreed!
Killer start to the end of year list. Rotten Sound and Tomb Mold rule. Also, I need to check out Bacterial Husk and The Glorious Dead. Here are my 40-26 favorite metal albums of the year.
26. vvilderness - Path (atmospheric post-black metal)
27. Lumen Ad Mortem - Upon The Edge Of Darkness (atmospheric black metal)
28. Imperium Dekadenz - Into Sorrow Evermore (atmospheric black metal)
29. Crystal Coffin - The Curse of Immortality (melodic black metal)
30. Valdrin - Throne of the Lunar Soul (melodic black metal/symphonic black metal)
31. Wayfarer - American Gothic (atmospheric black metal/folk metal)
32. Invent Animate - Heavener (progressive metalcore)
33. Paenil Era - Deviere (atmospheric post-black metal)
34. Tribunal - The Weight of Remembrance (gothic death-doom/black metal)
35. Ὁπλίτης - Ἀντιτιμωρουμένη (avant-garde black metal: black metal/death metal/progressive thrash metal)
36. Carnosus - Visions of Infinihility (technical melodic death metal)
37. Nostalghia - Duelo (atmospheric post-black metal)
38. Aeternus - Philosopher (blackened death metal)
39. Serpent of Old - Ensemble Under The Dark Sun (blackened death metal/death-doom)
40. Vastum - Inward to Gethsemane (death metal)
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! I strongly recommend both The Glorious Dead and Rotten Sound. Man, there's a lot on here that I didn't get a chance to check out and some that were close to making my list this year like Imperium Dekadenz, Wayfarer and Vastum. I'll have to check out some of these bands I'm not familiar with when the holiday madness subsides a bit lol.
I'd be cool if ya could out up a list of all the bands Nick! You guys do great content!
Necrotic Nick- I’m going to post all the lists in the description after the 3rd one premieres. I want to keep people guessing for now.
@@thrallsofmetal yeah that's what I was talking about lol I didn't want ya to give it away or something lol
I feel like Tomb Mold should've been higher, one of my favorites this year. It's your list though😁
Necrotic Nick- I really enjoy that album but I'm still more attached to their earlier sound and there were some other albums that just grabbed me a bit more. Still, this is just my list. I've seen it higher on a lot of lists but I'm honestly just happy it's showing up on lists as much as it is. It's damn good album.
I try to make my list with how often I need to return to an album. Kind of a “High spin count.” This would make my ranking:
Church of Misery- born under a mad sign
Autopsy- Ashes..
Enforced- War remains
Valdrin- Seven swords
Creeping Death
Afterbirth- in but not of
Sulfur Aeon - Seven crowns
TombMold
Ahab - The coral tombs
Outer Heaven
Gravesend - Gowanus death stomp
Cruciamentum
Horrendous
Cannibal Corpse
Nightmarer
Sylosis
Necrotic Nick- That's always a factor with my lists is how much I'm drawn to listening to the album and you've definitely got some on here that got a ton of spins. I've seen that Valdrin pop up in the comments a couple of times so I might need to check that one out at some point too.
Hell ya ulthar is awesome!
Necrotic Nick- Best album(s) from them yet.
This is the first year I'm not putting a personal top album list together in like 5 years because it's just too difficult. I'm at the point now of adding well over 150 new albums to my playlists that I enjoy each year and it's impossible to put them in any top order. So I commend you for being able to keep your head on while doing these.
I don’t know how you all do it. I feel like there’s just too much to keep up with while also digging into other catalogs, just not enough time. Like a top 20 would be the best I could do lol
I hear that. Most people don't get as crazy with new music. Everyone I personally know might get into a new album 2 or 3 times across an entire year. The only difference is music is a massive part of my life. If I'm not working, I'm most likely discovering or playing music. It's a daily, full time hobby for me that I've chosen to put time into.@@mojuy11
Necrotic Nick- It's tricky and I think this year was one of the tougher ones to come up with a list for since there were so many quality lists. For me, since I jam music all the time I get a good idea throughout the year what I've really connected with so a lot of it is about how much I'm drawn to the music and how it makes me feel. After that I dissect the reasons why I was so drawn to it. It's tough but I still really enjoy that process.
I can hear the pain in Nick’s voice on how hard it was to make the list! Great year for metal and good problems to have.
Necrotic Nick- The real pain was crossing albums off the list when I was making it. Lots of sighing and groaning lol.
I have a very strong feeling that this is gonna be a special year for metal.
Necrotic Nick- It's most definitely a strong year for metal.
As usual, whenever I create a "best of" annual year-end list I leave a bunch of good stuff off and 2023 was no exception at all. I probably could have made this list ten times longer and boring af to read, but that said, barring a complete miracle for 2023's last month, I have what would be the 25 albums that I enjoyed the most this year:
1. Lovebites -- Judgement Day
2. Delain -- Dark Waters
3. Hellripper -- Warlocks Grim and Withered Hags
4. Insomnium -- Anno 1696
5. Overkill -- Scorched

7. Xandria -- The Wonders Still Awaiting
8. Perc3ption -- Art In Extreme Situations
9. Fierce Justice -- Fireborn
10. Acid King -- Beyond Vision

17. Night Legion -- Fight or Fall
18. Enchantya -- Cerberus
19. Majesties -- Vast Reaches Unclaimed
20. Midnight Vice -- S/T (the riffs on this are KILLER)
21. Excalion -- Once Upon A Time
22. Naitaka -- Emergence
23. Blood Ceremony -- The Old Ways Remain
24. Soen -- Memorial
25. Iron Savior -- Firestar
Just missed: Dhaliax -- Doomed , Obituary -- Dying of Everything, Blackbraid -- Blackbraid II, Cruachan -- The Living and the Dead, Enslaved -- Heimdal, Blackbriar -- A Dark Euphony, Moonlight Sorcery -- Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle, Akilla -- The Gods Have Spoken, Omnium Gatherum -- Slasher, Powerwolf-- Interludium, Orbit Culture -- Descent, Green Lung -- This Heathen Land, Twilight Force -- At the Heart of Wintervale, Crypta -- Shades of Sorrow, Strike -- Break the Chains, Frozen Crown -- Call of the North and Exmortus -- Necrophony.
Necrotic Nick- I hear ya, man. I had to leave off a lot of stuff that I loved this year as well. I could have done a top 50 but I've stuck with top 40 for awhile now so I'm gonna keep it at 40. Yeah, I see some that are just outside of my list on here as well as some that did make it. There's definitely some stuff I missed too so I've got some stuff to check out going into next year too. Solid list, man!
Dang killer list Nick I’ll check out some bands that I have not heard yet. Loves the Tomb Mold, Ulthar, and cannibal corpse! My list of best albums is on my ‘best albums of 2023’ (all metal) video on my channel if you like to check out which is 23 albums. Can’t wait to watch the other 26 albums from you! Cheers!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! I'll have to check out your list at some point. I hope you dug pt. 2 and the top 10 is up next so I hope to see you there.
@@thrallsofmetal you know it!!! Saw part 2 and great albums that I listening too also. Glad Nothing is getting praise! That is my favorite death metal album of the year!!!
Thanks dude, building this list must be a mother fu$%er. Lol appreciate the hard work.
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, it seems like this year in particular was a tough one. There was almost too much good metal that dropped lol.
Jesus it's that time of year already. Where the hell the time has gone this year I have no clue, but it has been absolutely incredible in terms of new music. The best year that I can remember for a long while, especially when it comes to death metal. My year end list was extremely difficult to put together but I managed it!
40) Incantation - Unholy Deification
39) Spirit Possession - Of the Sign
38) Frozen Soul - Glacial Domination
37) Voyager - Fearless in Love
36) Baroness - Stone
35) Imperium Dekadenz - Into Sorrow Evermore
34) Crosses - Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete
33) Night Hag/Burial - Utterances From Below (the first of 2 EPs on the list)
32) Astralborne - Across the Aeons
31) Obituary - Dying of Everything
30) Creeping Death - Boundless Domain
29) Spirit Adrift - Ghost at the Gallows
28) Metallica - 72 Seasons (been loving it more and more as time has gone on, I'd say it's easily on par with Death Magnetic. I just wish they'd have trimmed it down by 3 songs)
27) Blackbraid - II
26) LOKUST - Infidel
Looking forward to seeing your list, you guys have turned me onto a lot of absolutely killer stuff again this year so thanks as always 🤘🤘
The Metallica album was terrible.
@@robertsparling917 each to their own man. I'm a big fan of their output since Death Magnetic (apart from Lulu, we don't talk about that 🤣) so really there was nothing for me to dislike here, I prefer it to Hardwired. Sure it's not even close to the 80s albums, nothing ever will be, but it's solid
@@liametheridge9148 St. Anger sucks too! The snare on that album is nails on a chalkboard!
Necrotic Nick- Time flies when you're having fun and blasting awesome music lol. Yeah, this year has been an unbelievably strong year for metal. I almost did a top 50 just because there were so many killer albums dropped this year. Solid list here though. Man, there's some on here that I only wish I had room for on the list and it was rough having to cast them off. Also don't let Robert fool you. He loves 72 Seasons but it's a far cry from his favorite album St. Anger lol.
Top 40 had to be tough this year
Necrotic Nick- Oh it definitely was lol
Only 10 for me because I just can’t keep up with all the releases:
10 Carnation - Cursed Mortality
9 Dying Fetus - Make Them Beg for Death
8 Haken - Fauna
7 Horrendous- Ontylogical Mysterium
6 Cannibal Corpse - Chaos Horrific
5 Fires in the Distance - Air Not Meant for Us
4 Cattle Decap - Terrasite
3 Alkaloid - Numen
2 Sulphur Aeon - Seven Crowns
1 The Ocean - Holocene
Holocene just kept growing and growing like you said and now I think it’s my favorite of theirs
Necrotic Nick- I get it, man. It was even difficult for us this year to keep up with all the releases. That's a solid list though and The Ocean really did grow on me too. Lyrically it might be one of my favorite albums here lately.
@@thrallsofmetal agreed. Parabiosis really makes you think
Dying of Everything at 37!?! I'm not your friend anymore Nick. I was going to send you a dope Christmas present but now I'm sending Durian candy. Seriously tho it's been an awesome year for Hard/extreme metal 👌
Necrotic Nick- Man, can I just get a lump of coal instead of that horrible candy? That shit tasted like a gasoline soaked onion lol. Yeah, I love the new Obituary but man was this year staked with competition in just death metal alone.
So much great albums came out this year. I'm not even gonna try to put them in order, but.......
Kaunis Kuolematon
Morne
Humanity's Last Breath
Dying Fetus
Cannibal Corpse
Hinayana
Fuming Mouth
Immortal
Disguised Malignance
Sulphur Aeon
Grand Cadaver
Convocation
Woods Of Grief
Slow
Winterhorde
Rüyyn
Servant
Devangelic
Obituary
Serpent Of Old
Cattle Decapitation
Insomnium
Suffocation
Memoriam
Ocean Of Grief
God Disease
Sermon
And so many others........
Necrotic Nick- I get it. This year especially especially was insane when it came down to the number and the quality of the releases. Not a bad problem to have though. Solid list here though. There's definitely some I still need to check out for sure.
A lot of good stuff in this batch
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man!
Ya I’m still trying to figure out one of your top 5. Probably something that I can’t spell. 😂 with hm2 , progressive , black metal with vocals I don’t understand with break downs.
Necrotic Nick- I may have dropped one clue for one but it was subtle. Outside of that, I think I've kept them pretty secretive.
The Birdflesh Album is pretty dope I just wish the songs were a little bit longer.
Necrotic Nick- I mean, grindcore is generally short when it comes down to the style.
The glorious dead is awesome!!
Necrotic Nick- Love that old school sound.
Helionomicon was such a great release!
Necrotic Nick- Agreed! Ulthar probably put out their best stuff to date this year.
Get a load of this guy, he got a Metalhead box 😮😅
Necrotic Nick- More than one actually.
The new obituary album was amazing so is the new cannibal corpse can't wait to see them again in May i love new dying fetus God these band are releasing some of their best work 20 to 30 something years later its phenomenal
Necrotic Nick- I'm not sure I'm gonna make to those shows since they're both really long hauls from me but they both delivered some killer albums this year for sure. I love that the old guard really stepped up year with some amazing albums.
Are all the other Thrallers doing year end vids too?
Necrotic Nick- I believe so. It's just a matter of finding time to do them.
@thrallsofmetal if one of you don't mention Fires In The Distance I might cry. My favourite metal RUclipsrs have been neglecting that damn album lol. Also, I see no one talking about Begravement
I don't have a top 10 but i can tell you that if you haven't listened to Tetragrammacide's new album you're REALLY missing out. It is SPECTACULAR in every way!
Necrotic Nick- That's one I definitely want to check out. I know it's got a ton of hype this year.
@@thrallsofmetal It's unlike anything ive ever heard, TBH. It's unrelenting energy and brutality isn't for the faint of heart. Took me several listens to really understand what the F I was listening to lol. The drumming is nothing short of breathtaking - Davide Billia of Antropofagus on the kit. Man this is not only my favorite of 2023, it's in my top 50 of all time 🤘🏼
Obituary took the number 5 spot for me. Best album since Frozen In Time.
Necrotic Nick- That's a tough call for me because I absolutely loved the self titled album and I think the new one it at least on par with that riffy beast.
2023 was difficult for me as far as choosing my favorite albums. I can't do a top 40 because a lot of artists put out great music, specially in metal and alternative music. Only a top 25 for me.
Necrotic Nick- I get it. It was a like an endless buffet of killer music all year long this year.
let's gooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man!
All i know it that Ulthar had the best album art this year. Jesus christ, that shit is amazing.
Necrotic Nick- One of the best. I love how both covers link into one piece too.
Top 3 albums Horrendous, Kvelertak and 3rd Secret (not metal I know but enough members of calibre to justify).
So many more belters though it's always hard to nail down.
Necrotic Nick- I'm not familiar with 3rd Secret but those other 2 definitely got a lot of love on my list.
@@thrallsofmetal
It's a supergroup containing Kris Novoselic, Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil from Soundgarden, Bubba Dupree from Void, and now Brant Bjork, and fronted by 2 incredible female singers whose names escape me now. 1st album had its moments, but this new second LP is killer from start to finish.
EVIL INCARNATE- LUCIFERS CROWN
Necrotic Nick- I missed that one. I'll check it out when I get a chance though.
Tomb Mold magazine cover. They weren’t just not wearing band shirts they looked like dorks
Necrotic Nick- I hate to break it to you but metalheads are dorks. That's not a bad thing either.
@@thrallsofmetal what I mean is they didn’t look cool. Isn’t metal supposed to have some aesthetic appeal? Especially for extreme metal, especially on a magazine cover.
Necrotic Nick- Most of the metalheads I know don't dress the way they dress to look cool. They don't even care about being cool. I'd rather see a band just be themselves than needlessly posturing just to appease people or gain cred. The music will always matter more than the aesthetic.
@@thrallsofmetal I have long hair and wear band shirts because I think it looks good, call it cool or whatever you want. Music does always come first. But I guess I just expect and prefer a more intimidating metal look that makes them look like they play heavy ass music, at least in some small way.
Necrotic Nick- I get that. People have a certain expectation when it comes down to things. That's just human nature. For me, I dress the way I dress because it's what I'm comfortable in. I'm not trying to impress or flex or anything like that anymore. I just wear what I wear and if people think I'm a dork or I'm cool that's their opinion. I'm in it for the love of the music.
12:53 Give that vinyl to Miller!
Necrotic Nick- I think I’ll keep it.
Ah yeeeeah another year coming to an end , sick killer releases this year , interested to see what you got cooking here sir 🤘🏼 👉 hails let's get the rot started till the pus flows 🤘🏼☝🏼
Necrotic Nick- Dude, this year might have been one of most loaded years yet in my opinion. Just the death metal that came out alone was enough to make it a banner year for metal.
@@thrallsofmetal I agree with this indeed ...hails 🤘🏼👉🏼⭐⭐⭐⭐😋
Where's your sidekick Slappin' Samson?
Necrotic Nick- I slapped him... duh
