  • Sohail Hashmi is a writer, filmmaker. he has worked extensively of Indian Cultural heritage and writes regularly in The Hindu and in the travel magazine Terrascape. He conducts Heritage Walks in Delhi , which are very sought after walks.
Sohail did his masters and M Phil from JNU.
Dwarka Collective was initiated in July 2015 as a platform of artists, intellectuals and activists to promote diversity, pluralism and constitutional values and actively engage with citizens of the sub-city Dwarka.
Dwarka Collective has taken an initiative to organise a discussion on varied topics of intellectual interest every week. This initiative aims at bridging the gap between thinkers working in various areas such as media, culture, heritage, law, science, arts, human rights, gender equality, films, music, etc. The syncretic culture in any democratic society is created on the bedrock of negotiation between different domains of human activity, intellectual distillation and the thought processes prevalent among common citizens. The effort of Dwarka collective is to enhance and crystallize this social contract.
The idea of holding Dwarka Baat Cheet is essentially based on simple format, where we plan to invite a scholar or a celebrity to initiate the discussion among the invited 50 to 100 participants followed by an open debate. The programme is likely to continue for about 2hrs. The invited scholar may be from any part of the Delhi, however the participants will mainly be invited from among the Dwarka residents. Dwarka Collective will use all channels of information to invite the participants. We invite artists, intellectuals, advocates, activists, students and all other interested citizens of Dwarka to join Dwarka Collective.

I don't believe the part about pumpkins. Veena which is depicted as Saraswati's instrument is shown in very ancient sculptures. Agree that sitar was invented by Khusru Khan [not Amir Khusru] about 300 years ago as a variant of veena.

Asafoetida or ferrula is widely wild plant grows in steppes in Central Asia including Afghanistan and even Iran. Camels eat it when they have bad tummies but it was an important item exported since the trading days from Central Asia into India
