    Apart all marketing hype and praises about how light, how stiff, how aero and other blah blah blah typical nonsense, a 10k+ for a bike should let you choose a frame what fits you properly, or at least fit it to your needs by changing parts. Thanks to its big seattube angle and proprietary 'aeeero' seatpost, some people like me could never fit a bike, unless going few sizes larger, as proprietary 'aeeero' seatpost cannot be chosen with required setback. For a 10k + bike, there should be no excuses like that.

    • @nikpavlovic2770
      @nikpavlovic2770 3 года назад +1

      the frameset comes with seatpost and stem, a couple of shops i spoke to, hear in the uk, have offered to swap either or both for my personal fit at no charge. luckily, i put a deposit down on the dusty purple frameset, before specialized hiked up all their prices by 12 percent. by already having a new set of hunt 44 carbon spoke wheels and and purchasing a new and heavily discounted di2 groupset, ive managed to gather all the components at a large reduction, its still an expensive build and i wouldnt have done it after the price rise, but looking across the board, nearly all the brands, apart from giant, have similar prices for the top end builds.

    Rim brakes are so cool, so light and so easy to maintain; WHAT! no option? 😩. Looks like production cost is more important for their bottom line. I want a new bike but don't want the extra dinner plate on my hubs nor the ugly plastic pieces on the bar/stem. So which company still makes a beautiful rim brake model? 🤔

      German Tour magazine tested the SL7 and it came to within 2 watts (slower) to the Venge and 1 watt faster than the Pinarello Dogma F12. Cannondale SystemSix and Specialized Venge Vias are the fastest, but are much heavier.

    • @mrm95
      @mrm95 4 года назад +1

      @@JRock4572001 Yes they even have a puppet where they only use moving lower legs etc.
      They do as good a job as you can to get good results with their protocol by testing stock versions of the bikes and with reference wheels (Zipp 404 on all bikes) to get valid results.
      The Dogma F12 tested was the rim brake version though. Eventually they'll surely add the disc model too.

      @@mrm95 wow than I take back my comment. Good job specialized! Aero dynamics is such a black art. Just looking at the down tube, the forks and seat tube, I would have never thought it could be as fast as the aero shape tubes such on the F12 or other aero bikes.

    I don't understand how nobody mentions that when you run a PF86 with a 30mm DUB axel the bearing size is reduced and significantly compromises the durability and life span.

    • @AllanPhillips

      Could be something to do with the fact that the SL7 has a standard threaded bottom bracket and not PF86.
