    Here's something: Terraform a rouge planet, a planet without a star.

    • @sulien6835
      @sulien6835 9 лет назад +7

      +Nott Mynaem Cool, but it wouldn't work. The water would freeze.
      Although, if the planet were a massive enough gas giant, it might give off enough heat that water can exist on one of its moons. Hm. He should try that.

    • @sulien6835
      @sulien6835 9 лет назад +7

      Oh! If the planet had an extremely thick atmosphere - thicker than Venus's - then the greenhouse effect, combined with heat produce by the planet's own geological activity and possible asteroid impacts, could potentially heat it up enough to sustain liquid water.

    • @liamailiam
      @liamailiam 9 лет назад

      +Nott Mynaem thats a bit like trying to revive a skeleton

    • @sulien6835
      @sulien6835 9 лет назад +1

      ***** Ah, but Venus is constantly being bombarded with heat from the Sun. But a rogue planet would only very rarely receive heat. So while Venus has more heat than it knows what to do with, the rogue planet would be able to keep the heat without having a surplus.

    • @thepsion5
      @thepsion5 8 лет назад

      +Nott Mynaem Well, I don't think makeup is among the materials currently implemented. ;)
      In all seriousness, I think just to create a planet with liquid water on the surface would require a massive atmosphere, combined with serious heating from radioactive decay (which US doesn't model currently) and probably a lot of tidal heating too (think a large moon orbiting a gas giant).
      The last time I tried the latter, the planet in question was torn apart by tidal forces before it got hot enough to support liquid water, so any liquid water on the surface would be quickly lost to the massive tidal forces. Think the water planet from Interstellar, except even more dramatic.

  • @Dagreatdudeman
    @Dagreatdudeman 9 лет назад +13

    So to terraform Eris we have to throw the moon at it?
    Also I think the greenhouse doesn't work because Eris gets so little energy from the sun.

    • @MedK001
      @MedK001 8 лет назад +1

      +Nott Mynaem It always works, in the game, of course.

    • @JJayzX
      @JJayzX 8 лет назад +1

      +Nott Mynaem Titan is full of methane and its still a frozen place, you are right about little energy. This guy doesn't seem to know this stuff too well. He needs to double check his facts before making these videos.

    I wonder if humans can make a man made asteroid, moon or planet. Or even a star by using tons of light with very high brightness with a machine that heats up the object to a good 4000-11000 temperature. And a large gravitational field with high gravity to get things into orbit. If that would be possible, we can make anything we want with life have life!

    Pluto didn't get demoted it was never a planet but we just didn't know

  • @AmethystCut8XM
    @AmethystCut8XM Год назад

    Technically. Pluto isn't a planet because of Jupiter and Saturn, Since they pushed Neptune to the outer Solar System, with it pushing Pluto into the Kuiper Belt.
    determining if something is a planet goes for 3 factors
    1. It orbits a star
    2. It needs to be a sphere
    3. There cannot be any other objects in it's orbit (So not with Neptune and Pluto because* Pluto also has a titled orbit)
    So if Jupiter and Saturn didn't push the (then possible) planet(s) Pluto would've been a planet

    And the sad thing about Pluto loosing planet statues is that it had gas giants for neighbors. If Mercury was put in the same position as Pluto, it would also be called a dwarf planet thanks to Neptune.

    • @thepsion5
      @thepsion5 8 лет назад

      +gabriel nyman That's not how dwarf planets are defined. Plus, Mercury is twice as large and 20 times as massive as Pluto.

    • @enderman_of_d00m24
      @enderman_of_d00m24 8 лет назад

      Doesn't matter. Think Mercury would have any effect on Neptune? Cause even a planet as large as Earth would be restrained if it had a planet as massive as Neptune "nearby".

    • @thepsion5
      @thepsion5 8 лет назад

      gabriel nyman Pluto is considered a dwarf planet because it's large enough to be spherical, but doesn't have enough gravity to be the "dominant" object in it's particular orbital zone. This would be the case regardless of whether Neptune was present or not. If Mercury had formed in a similar orbit, it would still have enough gravity to suck up or slingshot away all the other junk in it's orbital zone.

    • @enderman_of_d00m24
      @enderman_of_d00m24 8 лет назад

      You know, the existence of Charon, Pluto's largest moon, could be proof that Pluto once was a planet. Then the Universe pulled a jerk move on Pluto by smacking an enormous asteroid into it.

    • @thepsion5
      @thepsion5 8 лет назад

      gabriel nyman I think that's one of the possible theories on Charon's origin, actually. But if Pluto was large enough to be a planet before said collision, the main thing left would have been the core, which would be mostly metal. The fact that Pluto is almost entirely rock and ice makes that unlikely though.

      cause of Low Gravity you would lose bone density people would probably be really tall and pale

    The big challenge in living in such a poorly irradiated dwarf planet would be to struggle against the difficulty to synthetize the Vitamin D we all need to stay healthy. That's what the sunrays of our good star do for us. We sure would be able to survive in a terraformed Eris but we would have a lower life expectancy due to multiple factors (increased rate of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, depression...). Now, I don't know how we'd evolve to go past it, but it'd be a major immediate hindrance for us Earthians.
