Lovely , thanks . When I was a lad my mother spent a whole weeks wages on buying me the Hornby " Duchess of Montrose " engine . Some time around 1960 .
When the Southern Moguls came north drivers and firemen loved them. It’s not just about their steaming qualities but little details like Maunsell’s lovely lightweight firebox doors which are so light you can open and close them with a single finger if you have to. Easy! That adds up to a lot of saved effort across a whole shift.
Beautiful locos and the epic layout, but after all these years, you've heard that all before. What always makes this so brilliant (in conjunction with the aforementioned brilliance, is the perfect synchronization of the live sound effects with the models. Stunning work. I did like the green passenger cars. I don't see those often in UK layout videos.
Thanks very much Anthony, always appreciate it 😀 I think the green coaches were mainly used in southern England, but I like to run a rake even though my layout is set in Yorkshire 😉
Fantastic to see some southern stock on your layout & also them running through the other part of your layout really adding to the enjoyment . Have some nice produce being grown in the allotment ,with some eye level shots .Great start to the new year .😊 Happy New Year .
This is so much better than the sound fitted locomotives that are so unrealistic when it comes to steam. You do a great job as always matching the movement and the camera angle lends itself to immerse you in the scene. Great video, Jersey Bill
Happy New Year, Lewis! And Happy New Year to all your followers. I swear the detail on your big layout has been upgraded since we last saw it. Individual flowers; wash on the line! You draw the eye into your miniature world!
HNY Lewis. Another extremely enjoyable film. Watching the trains go by in "MR World" is always a true pleasure. I've noticed that more & more models now come with matt black fireboxes, so this will reduce your detailing workload, I guess?
An opening with a Mogul is always the premise of an excellent video ! I have this one in SR green, nice model. Nice contrast with the pair of Pacifics, I love it !
This is a cracking layout so simple & straightforward, thoroughly fit for purpose. All very inspiring. Thank you. Nice to see the ol Woolie with all them green coaches. A stalwart of the N. Cornwall line & yes they did like to try n keep them that clean at Exmouth Junc!! Just get a T9 & 02 to run with your West Country with some odd bits of Maunsell coaching stock & u’ve got yourself a layout by the sea. ACE!!😃
Thank you, really appreciate it. All good suggestions - I just need to repaint the signal boxes, benches and station signs green and it might as well be Devon!
Thanks for sharing those Winter warmers on your marvelous layout Lewis. Most enjoyable ! Wishing you a wonderful and healthy 2025 and happy model railroading. Cheers, Filip
Wonderful Lewis I like that A1 and good to see the loft layout again. Bachmann seems to have the right shade of green compared to Hornby's shade of green which for my eyes is too light.
Very nice. I see you've really become quite attached to that N-Class!! SWAS looking well as well - slightly wobbly speedo but they're difficult to 'centre' I know. Love the slightly curved platforms - layout's looking superb. Nice job and as always, thanks for sharing. Al.
@@MouldyRaspberry I know what you mean. I have moments when I feel brave enough, and play with the shape 3-dimensionally, to get the centring. Mine seems pretty good on my SWAS (not quite 'perfect') so I'm trying to leave it alone now!
Nice to see the old layout in use. Must of been pretty cold up there! I'm glad I got some insulation in mine, it's not the bahamas but it's not alaska either when I first go up. I've learnt so much about what to do with the landscape going up and down around the railway from watching these. Cheers
You're Welcome looking Forward to more videos Winter Express Passenger and Parcels trains would be a great idea and Locomotion plus Rocket could make an appearence for Railway 200
As always Lewis I really enjoy watching videos which include the loft layout have you any plans for the New Year to upgrade any of the scenes as you’ve done in the past Health & Happiness for 2025
Thanks John, you as well. I think I’ll have some more building for one of the layouts, I’ve been thinking about my next layout for when I eventually move house and anything I make now I figured I can use on the next layout anyway
Hi love your Channel and I have my own model railway (OO gauge) and we want to add sound but don’t want to convert to DCC do you have any suggestions. Thanks,
Lewis you are undoubtedly one of the best modellers on RUclips. Your layouts reach standards that leave most others floundering. But may I ask two questions? 1. Why did you choose single track when you often run locomotives? That would have been rarely seen in such an environment such as the A1 or the Duchess? Does this represent an imagined heritage railway? 2. Why did you choose to model on the floor?
It's small tender engines with 3 composite coaches and a brake coach for a Winter Warmer. The bigger engines are in bed till Springtime, when heavier trains are the norm. An Ivatt 2MT Mogul is ideal for a Winter Warmer train.
Hi Lewis a happy new year to you, nice to see the beautiful Sir William Stanier grace your layout . another great video ,Do you ever use the sidings the loco was parked on i cant say that i have ever notice you using them just a though. never the the less I always enjoy your videos there great. thank you.

That’s very kind of you thanks! A couple of reasons really, firstly when I started the original layout I was fresh into the hobby and didn’t know any better, I just wanted a nice scenic line. The single track was because I started the original layout whilst at university on a limited budget so it was mainly to keep the cost down. It was also originally an end to end, but I kept extending it until it became a loop. Knowing a lot more now, when I build another it will be double track for sure! The second layout is on the floor because it’s tucked under where my roof slopes down in converted attic. It was kind of a useless space so I built the layout in there to fill it and keep it out the way.
Yahoo back on the original layout and a train stopping at Buckdale, what more can you want ‼️❤❤❤
Glad you liked it 😀
The attention to detail in this layout build is on a whole new level.
Isn’t it just.
I know! I'm hoping to get the same level of detail on my layout. This has inspired around 70% of my layout
Thanks very much 😀
Lovely , thanks .
When I was a lad my mother spent a whole weeks wages on buying me the Hornby " Duchess of Montrose " engine .
Some time around 1960 .
Glad you enjoyed it. Wow, expensive then and still expensive now!
Absolutely love this model railway!
Thank you!
N-class hauling Bulleid stock - what a fantastic way to start the New Year!
_CLC & Maroon stock looked superb too!_
A classic combo! Thank you! 😀
Another great video - a time gone by - thank you and Happy New Year.
Thanks Alex - you as well.

Awesome video as always Lewis!!! Many thanks for sharing! Cheers Onno.

Simply perfect! The weathering, the sound perfectly synchronized. A joy to watch. The scenery is in the Pendon class. Truly delightful.
Many thanks! 😀
Your eye for detail is breathtaking.
Thanks!
HNY @Mouldy Raspberry, great running session and all I can do is echo everyone else, the attention to details is off the chart. Amazing.
Thanks mate 😀
Very enjoyable, so much to admire: lighting, camerawork, action and the beautifully made scenery
Thanks very much!
Another great video. Most enjoyable. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it👍🏻
N class a lovely cameo. Had to get my spotters book for 60157, like old times. Sir William Stanier, brought Heaven back to the Dales, Railway.
A cracking loco 😀

I’d love to have a go running trains on this layout, you’ve done an amazing job with it mate!
Thank you very much!

Thanks very much Mike 👍🏻

Thanks Olivier 😀
Always enjoy your videos and nice to see some of the original layout.
Thanks glad you liked it!

Love the slightly curved platforms - layout's looking superb. Nice job and as always, thanks for sharing.
Al.
Thanks very much Al, always appreciate the comment. I’ve never been able to centre the Speedo, the more I mess with it the more it wobbles!

Yes it was pretty fresh up there so needed the trusty slippers on! That’s great you found them useful 👍🏻 thanks for watching
A Happy New Year to you. I know that others had said similar but your attention to detail is staggering.
Thanks Mark. To you as well!
Nice array of locos Mr Mouldy. Love that NER whistle. Best wishes J😊
Thanks, you too John!
As always Lewis, magical! Happy new year to you! ❤
Happy new year John! Thank you 👍🏻
Nice to see the duchess but need more coaches on. Great views of Yorkshire
Yes that’s true! Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Lewis Happy New Year, it was great seeing both layouts well done.

Ha, thank you and happy new year to you as well.
Thumbs up, liked and commented!
Thank you 😀
Is this layout a single run around or an end to end. Could a track plan be shared. Magnificent work.
It’s two layouts, one is a loop and one is end to end. If you email me at mouldyraspberry@gmail.com I’ll send you track plans of both 👍🏻
As always Lewis I really enjoy watching videos which include the loft layout have you any plans for the New Year to upgrade any of the scenes as you’ve done in the past Health & Happiness for 2025

Ah nice to see the Duchess, do you stick to BR mostly?
Thanks! Yes, but happy to run anything 👍🏻
Hi love your Channel and I have my own model railway (OO gauge) and we want to add sound but don’t want to convert to DCC do you have any suggestions.
Thanks,
Thank you 👍🏻 I edit the sounds over the top when editing the video, so don’t actually have any sound on the layout.
As your layout is DC and I assume no sound in loco's, how are you producing the different sounds we hear throughout your videos?
Yes it’s DC, I just edit the sounds over the clips when editing the video. It’s sound files of things I’ve recorded at heritage railways
Where is this model railway? Is it possible to visit?
In my loft!
@ well that’s a shame, but thanks. Can you tell me where I can find a list of permanent model railway expos? Many seem to be temporary.

Thanks very much as always Tony - I tend to use it to store a wagon or two, or a loco. But I should use it more often!
