- Today's @OceanlinerDesigns livestream got derailed by none other than serial bad influence @HistoricTravels who brought up the design of a new cruise ship. I set about trying to improve the thing - and ended up creating a horror show.
Nice.
Oh hey Bright Sun! Somebody literally commented yesterday; I hope BSF sees this! 😂
@@michaelcbradyhey mike can you change RMMV Oceanic 3 pls I want to see what you can do.
Side note:Like what Sam said I might have created a monster lol 😂
Oh! Its that guy! Yup, I know him!
Pushing the superstructure back made a huge difference. To be honest it looks better than 80% of modern cruise ships.
Yes
less is more
As a student in Naval architecture, mike definitely made the ship more stable by removing at least 2 decks😂
Can i ask where Im currently searching for a naval architecture course and they're difficult to find
@@taylorclifford6364 Lol no response! just as any other validation and attention seeking ~"as a blahblah (insert an alleged related-profession) I approve!"~ comments, means just another big bullcrapper, and Mike is just straight up buying it.
I don't know whether or not if you're being serious but nice reply as a way to test the credibility of nonsense like this.
@@taylorclifford6364 they’re are a few colleges in the US that offer it. I know SUNY Maritime offers it and they are a pretty nice school
SS Eastland: This information is priceless
architects build buildings. not ships. naval ENGINEERING. the size of the ship doesnt change what it actually is. calling naval ship builders ARCHITETS sounds so false. nobody constructing vehicles are architects of anything. its engineering. people are building architects, and ship building engineers. huge huge difference. ships arent stationary buildings nor does they size make them buildings to architect
You didn’t fail, Mike, I think you did a great job. JVO II supremacy!
:) JVO all the way!
Seeing Historic Travels and Oceanliner Designs goof around together is my maritime history dream. More please. 🙂
On it! 😎
This is great.
You should sneak your redesign into a future “Terrible Ship Makeover” video as an April Fools joke 😂
I think this is an amazing ship makeover, he definitely made it look shorter and more elegant lol
imagine the new actual Disney ship says “Hello, it’s Walt Disney from Disney Cruises” every hour
Every hour, on the hour. It's like a grandfather clock but it drives you more insane
@@Fandom_Junkie Random Walt Disney quotes on every half hour. They get more anti-semitic the closer it gets to midnight. Then it resets to cutesy stuff. Occasionally you hear Goofy or Mickey Mouse laughing randomly.
This legit looks better than whatever Disney is making. Though that isnt a high bar to beat.
Please do more stuff like this! Who wouldn’t want to watch it?
In regards to the light ship being hit , the crew saw before the bow struck , an smiling man as the bow can upon them , towering over the ship. The smiling man is now forever etched into their mind “ the horror”
On this stream, a work of art, a masterpiece was made. Truly a moment.
The result of the redesign was much better than the ugly mess it previously was.
What a horrific way to die for the crew of the lightship, hearing those words as the last ever in your life. Even hearing it now it sends shivers down my spine xD
It’s so funny to see our friend, Mike Brady, do a video where he seams to have been enjoying lots of adult beverages before making it. 😂. Way to go big boy!
Well it looked a hell of a lot better after you got through with it Mike! It went from a huge floating shoebox to something that could pass for the grandaughter of the Normandie!
Pure class! Well done!
You're on to something there, my friend; I was thinking a sci-fi, "Space is an Ocean" starliner modelled on the original RMS Queen Elizabeth, myself.
@@TallboyDave Good idea! Just because spaceships will travel in a vacuum and would have no need for streamlining doesn't me (to me at least) that those who will build them wouldn't have a desire to make them look good just the same.
Omg your voice announcing lifeboat drills and barking at each muster station=DREAM. 😂
YES!! And those announcements about projected arrival at ports of call and the evening's entertainment 😄
Dream cruise for sure
"Hey guys, it's your friend Mike Brady from Oceanliner Designs! If you're hearing this message, the Captain has decided that it's time to abandon ship!
Please proceed to the lifeboats in a calm organized fashion, and I know you must be having a rough day, but *please* don't commit mutiny!
Good luck! 😊"
Like so many others my favorite most stunning liner is the Normandy. Aside from it I've always enjoyed the art deco looks from the 30's The old Seattle ferry Kalakala and another on a river as I recall was The Admiral. Flash Gordon on the water! I first saw the Kalakala on Kodiak island in Alaska after it had been used as a cannery. I got to tour it in Seward Alaska as it was being towed back to Seattle. Again I drove past it on Lake Washington and now it has been destroyed. .
This genuinely had me belly laughing for a bit. Between your face on the funnels, and the last superchat, it was genuinely hysterical. It's also incredible how much you were able to improve the aesthetics of this ship.
Basically, the superstructure and the hull above the waterline need to be roughly the same height, and the bow and stern need to protrude forward and aft for either a fourth or fifth of the ship’s total length. Then it will look like a balanced ship.
Generally, I would say it is an improvement. The Mike Brady faces on the bow and funnels add character to it (quite literally).
They'd seriously double my chances of choosing this ship for my next cruise (if this was real)
@@nthgth honestly same
You've definitely improved it! You took a floating resort and turned it into an ocean liner built to charge hell-for-leather across the Atlantic!
Congrats, you've created a modern version of the S. S. United States 😅❤️
I keep finding myself rewatching this over and over again xD it's just too hilarious
I actually think this is a general improvement. I like quirky ships, especially after making many ocean liners on minecraft for years, something about both the original and the edit speak to the weirdness that I enjoy in unique ships.
Yes your improvement design looks great. Now it looks like a proper ship. A proper ocean liner like the RMS Queen Elizabeth! Not the awful so called modern ships that look like a block of flats floating on a barge.
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who hates what ships have become.
Great job improving the proportions and lines.
The original rendering looks like something out of an old Richie Rich comic.
The multitude of pipes protruding from the funnel shrouds really make it look like a porcupine with red scrunchies around it's spines.
The end was an absolute masterpiece. We need more of these streams, or a try not to laugh with Mike Brady. That would be hilarious.
The Mike Brady heads on the funnels! 🤣🤣🤣 I'm so sorry I missed this stream
You made a masterpiece! Your face in the bow make me smile a lot!
Being in the ship community (this is what i call you guys) make me happy because it's really common to see the same people in different videos, like andy happy guy.
Andy's ma friend!
I saw this on Discord. Just by looking at it, I could see it was top heavy and promptly said "I can't wait to see this thing tip over like an unbalanced kayak on the Mississippi"
the mike faces on the funnels and bow actually made me cackle. this video cheered me up so much
Your head on the funnels made me absolutely lose it 😂😂😂😂
I think it looks pretty good actually. To me, most modern cruise ships are so mis proportioned with an endless number of decks. Less is better..well done Mike:-) I'm a sub on Sam's channel as well...always great videos..here and there as i have been watching your prior videos Mike.
I can only imagine Disney using your design to improve it. I love your design better than what they have.
I've only just found your channel - really enjoyed this one!
Well, Mike my late Dad always used to say, “Variety is the spice of life!”, and you just proved it - lol!!!
It needs one more touch...The Imperator's bronze eagle! 🤣
This was delightful, you have such an infectious laugh, thank you for sharing! 😂
Hey mike!
You did not fail it, you made it better.
To clarify - your redesign looks great!
This was awesome haha. I cracked up with your face on the funnels 🤣
This was a delightful jaunt while i was on a vacation cruise ship. well done.
I actually don't hate it. Looks good imo!
YES!!! I agree! I refuse to consider travelling on these modern eggcrates! But you made this ship look elegant. Like one of the 60s ships. Let's have another "Aquitania ".
Would love it if you can get Sam on streams with you so we can get the banter between you guys
Loved it. Great side channel to Oceanliner Designs. I subscribed because this site look like you will let your hair down and have fun. The JVO II sure looks better than the original ship. Keep up the work.
The promenade deck needs a small superstructure, but otherwise, it looks brilliant!😂😂😂
I don't usually watch live streams but this was good craic 😂😂 Will defo be watching the next one 😂😂
Fantastic speed photshopping turned out much better. Only thing still very wonky is the bridge being higher than the topdeck makes it look like a container ship bridge 🤔😁
You've reduced passenger accommodations by a quarter to a third, but that looks like a MUCH better ship. *This* could call itself an ocean liner.
I...kinda agree with you lmao
my favorite ferry has a similar funnel layout (two operational aft and two false forward) and I think its neat
(Central No.6/Emerudo/Tampomas II of 1971 for anyone wondering)
You have earned yourself a sub because of (mostly your other videos) the pure joy I get by just watching your videos. Keep up the good work brother!
there are still things i don't like about it (the inconsistent circle windows, the very round forward superstructure, etc.) but it actually looks like a ship i'd be proud to sail on. especially once they finish rigging the whistle with a sample of one of your youtube intros.
Mike Brady you just turned an ugly cruise ship into a liner. I love it you make me smile 😄😄😄
Never in my life with ships I've have ever seen a 6 funnel ship even in concept. A trio set-paired funnel cruise ship like the Global Dream
The only way to salvage it, is to make it 100% like the JVO, it's the only way to fix it, the only way! Also for good measure, make the livery the same as JVO but with your face plastered on the funnels, bow and the davits so we know you made it :)
Haha a truly terrifying prospect!
@@michaelcbrady Additional idea, a massive Mike Brady face should be painted across the entire hull, so the last thing the people on board the poor fishing boat JVO II rams will just see you and saying "Hello, It's Mike Brady From Ocean Liner Designs!", and the JVO II proceeds to eat them alive.
Look good
Ship looks better ! Fun stream ❤
Glad I got to witness this live
That is hilarious, Mike! 🤣 All joking aside though, I think you nailed it! I'll always err on the side of classic ocean liner designs over modern cruise ships.
We need more of this!
When you say things like "why they decided to do this to the ship is beyond me." Well, now you know why lol
She's Over a Hundred feet Longer than the Mauretania, and much more Luxurious
I believe you'll find it's "far more luxurious".
You made it much better it looks good then the first picture
We love silly Mike 😂 more silly Mike!
I also like it! The design looks like an exaggerated/modernized/futuristic version of the unfinished RMMV Oceanic 😂
I want to know how the hell the original is going to stay upright in anything more than a mild breeze
I agree, it looks COOL, without looking too outlandish/stupid :) and to be fair all modern ships are more about function and efficiency than glamour, there is a good reason we all still fantasize about beautiful ships like Titanic but they just don't stack up when accountants get involved :D
0:48 ship got that Megamind build 😂
Nothing beats the "Kitchen Knific" tho.XD
Probably the best 7 mins on youtube 😂
Your 6 funnel passion is fine! I love it with 6 funnels, so you aren’t the odd apple of the bunch Mike!
I absolutely love the new design!
That needs to go in a museum
It honestly looks more beautiful than any modern cruise ship
I’m kind of new to watching you on RUclips, so I only just watched this, but that was funny, I got a laugh out of it
If only we could cut down Disney's prices too for their cruises... make it a little smaller... to take those frown lines off my forehead 🤣
I'd pay good money to have the honour of gracing the decks of the JVO II
The funniest part about this is that he actually improved the original design. That original ship is such an eyesore.
We need this as a series
My grandfather on my dads side came to Australia on the Johan van oldenbarnevelt.
You should do stuff like this on every stream and by stuff I mean redesigning ships/designing ships
I think the ship looks fine, as someone who lives by the Great Lakes and rarely sees anything other than freighters and tour boats I would love to see a ship like this. Largest one I have personally seen was the 1997 built Hamburg.
00:13 glad that Disney went with Disney themes. That ship looks like the hunchback of Notre Dame
Much, much, much better!!
More like this pls!
This looks really good I'm not sure about the faces XD
Maybe there will be a disaster movie - GIGANTOR, the ship which was too big to rescue. Built by a famed designer of container ships, he pushed the limits giving her a 102 stories like the Empire State Building. This scale made her economical, but when disaster struck, everyone was overwhelmed.
Hello it’s your friend Mike Brady from Ocean liner designs. That’s gonna be the whistle
Think it needs a little Well deck on front, a mast of some sorts on the bow and maybe......erm....streamline the funnels, try and hid those pipes, maybe some White Star Line style funnels.
HONEY SELL THE HOUSE WE MUST GO ON THIS SHIP!
I think this doesn't look half bad. Especially compared to how it started. I do however think it needs some structure above the bridge. Just one level and slightly aft of the bridge windows
The 420 listeners just makes it more funny 😭
Honestly you improved the ship!
You nailed it 😊
Looks a million times better.
Beautiful! better they should do it that way minus the pics on the funnels 😅
Mike it looks more like a Liner thats just great.
Your best RUclips yet!
Nice ship building Mike i like it
Yeah, that concept design Disney made was UGLY AS SIN! Your improvements make it beautiful!
