    I have a 2022’ ram base 6 speaker sound system.
    I installed some SkarTX69 coaxial in the 4 doors, and TX35s in the dash.
    They sound better than stock, but not quite the jump I was expecting. Is this because they are coaxial? Because the dash speakers are 4ohm instead of factory 8 ohm? I’m just curious why it wasn’t really a night and day like I was expecting myself.
    And I’ve had pretty good luck with Skar, I’ve used them in 3+ cars always sounding great.

    It does sound clearer..but that would be expected when using 2 woofers, 4 tweeters and 4 mids instead of 2 woofers and two tweeters (front end)..but loss of low end..
    Curious, why not just replace the speaker screws?

  • @spymat72
    @spymat72 Год назад +7

    Very well done! I do have a couple questions tho: 1) I saw that you applied sound proofing to the outer door skin but I couldnt tell if you applied any to the door behind the door panel (same side as the speaker face). 2) you replaced the 8 ohm dash speakers with 4 ohm units. Did this change the dynamics or sound proportioning? Did the dash speakers become too overpowering?

    • @WeekndGarage
      @WeekndGarage  6 месяцев назад +2

      i have installed sound deadening and insulation directly on the metal behind the black door skin, sound deadening on the black plastic itself where the modules and speakers mount and i've also installed sound deadening and insulation on the door card itself. Doors feel like a tank and close like a G wagon now, no more tin feeling when knocking on the doors or closing doors.

    Surprised to see in this video that the Ram 1500 comes with plastic cones and not fabric like 99% of OEM sound systems. The factory setup lacks definition in the upper frequencies but has plenty of bass response without an amplifier. 2-ways are sufficient, components would be better but then again you'd need an amp. Actually the difference you’re noticing is all in the crisper highs.. that’s the difference between the 2 way and 3way mostly tbh..
    Also the front doors are nearly mid base only.. so you’re upgrading from a 1 way to a 3 way so yeah you’re gonna get a lot more higher recognition there.
    All in all I think the factory 6 speaker is actually pretty good.. my biggest issue is you get zero volume increase after about half volume.. and that isn’t the speakers that’s the radio and trucks programming.
    In all honestly most would be amazed by the factory setup is they simply got the full value out of them wo the safety nanny holding back power on the upper end. Would actually rival most higher end factory systems then.
    The only reason to swap out the factory speakers is if you’re adding enough low end punch then you will need that added higher to balance it all out..
    In all reality of just doing the doors only most are gonna be highly dissatisfied cause you’re going to gain a lot on the top end but also lose a lot on the low end.
    Do enough searing reviews on speakers and you’ll find this is a lot of the reason for lower reviews on speakers for these vehicles..
    Imop for a direct factory replacement only wo doing a full system the Jbl gto’s are the best out there.. they will perform good at factory power levels and they retain the low end punch still. The cheaper Rockford do pretty good too.. maybe a little more on the low but they don’t come close to the clarity on the higher range of the gto’s which are as clean as these references
    The cool thing about the infinities is the switch on the cone to change the db responsiveness.. the plus 3 is really like a 0db where as the 0 is more like a -3bd but this helps tremendously with non amplified setups to get the most volume from them
