Nice video! I lived in Bogotá for about 3 years, and it is a city that will always be in my heart. It is a beautiful city, with a lot to do, and a lot of opportunities to get ahead and succeed. People from all the cities of Colombia go to Bogotá to look for opportunities and many have succeeded.
The people who talk shit about Bogotá are resentful people, and they are people especially from Medellín, because they have a senseless war over which of the two cities is better. I hope to return to Bogotá soon, I miss its night life, the nice restaurants, and also the party is on another level! In my opinion Bogotá is the best city in Colombia by far. Besides that, you feel accepted regardless of your race, sexual orientation, religion, or whatever. Bogotá always welcomes everyone with open arms.

Been years but we loved Bogota. The cool temps were so nice, the women were spectacular, people dress well….just a cool city.
We are 56 and 61, retired, traveling to find our favorite retirement city…not sure if it may be too big for us. We are leaning towards Manizales for safety reasons.

Bro Medellin is far more dangerous than Bogota, just look at the stats. Also rich areas are as big as Medellin while in Medellin they are just little pockets. People in Bogota are more used to foreigners but not tourists, more as business people or professionals. You'll be very welcomed to come back.

Bogota is underrated for sure. It has it's cons such as the weather, the traffic (utterly atrocious), and the people are also a bit colder than other parts of Colombia, but nobody mentions the pros. Great restaurants, great nightlife, museums, day trips. If you are trying to date and you are in Colombia long term, I think it's much easier to date there than Medellin these days. There aren't nearly as many gringos, so almost nobody has a negative perceptions about you. You aren't automatically judged as being a coke head monger. There are tons of options to choose from, and people there are a little bit more open minded and less cliquish. It does have a grey, slightly depressing, stressed out feel to it though and logistics are absolutely fucked. If you are trying to date a girl and she lives on the opposite side of the city, good luck. If you are trying to find a good girl, it is actually a gold mine IMO. Women are much more honest and hardworking, and normal. Not nearly as many gold digger types. You should definitely switch it up and give Bogota a shot though. Why not?

Safety is relative to your mentality. If you think and move like a scared victim, then you're already telegraphing weakness. But if you are confident and know deep in your soul that no matter what comes at you you will definitely handle it, then it's unlikely anyone will want to take their chances messing with you.

It depends on the season, I was living in Bogotá before the pandemic and during those days the temperature in the morning varied between -1°C and 4°C, you also have to take into account that heating systems are not used in Bogotá during those cold seasons.

Idk why people complain about the traffic. I try to stay in walking distance of wherever I go to frequently. The transmileno is good too. They have their own lanes for it so the transmileno is not affected by trafffic. Main thing I like about bogota is rental prices for apartments and airbnbs
