I was with my dad at the dealership getting something done to our Comet Caliente when the car hauler pulled in with the first load of Cougars. He traded for the red one before it was even unloaded. Great day for a 13 year old kid.
Truly one of the best looking cars to ever come from the Blue Oval design studios. The 67' has a timeless look similar to the 62' Continental. The Wimbledon white is a beautiful color but there is nothing more stunning that 67' in black....
One of my best friends from high school had one of these with a 351c in it. We went all over in that machine. Four of us even spent one weekend at the Texas Renaissance Festival sleeping in and on it. Really good memories. Unfortunately he passed from cancer several years ago.
I bought a '67 Cougar(a dream car for me) back in 2016. It was dark blue with American Racing chrome wheels. Had a 302 ,4 barrel with a cam. Once I did a little research I discovered it was basically the car in this video, prior to the changes. I could even vaguely see where the pinstripes were before the repaint. I was given the original hub caps. And the car stock came with the 289. It wasn't original, but to me the car looked way cooler with the 5 point wheels, wider tires with the lettering on the outside, and engine wise...tougher. Mine also had the center console with the slide down storage compartment door...a little feature I always thought was very cool. Yeah it's an automatic, but dropping into 2nd gear while doing 45 and punching it.....one of my favorite things. Had to sell the car a couple years ago due to salt air slowly destroying the car and not wanting to see it get worse by the day, despite my efforts at body work and maintenance. I miss that car every day!
Mine was a '69 Black vinyl top over Metallic Green. I loved the smooth lines and sequential tail lights! (All mine worked :} And with the 351 Cleveland, man would it go! Learned how to neck in it working around the center console too! 😜 At 2:19, had a '77 911 Targa too. It was an import with metric gauges. Loved doing 100 kph.
I bought a 1967 repo for $100 spent$100 paint and body sold it for $550 to a friend. He had a fender bender ins company gave him$950 and he could keep the car.this was in the mid 1970s and this was a very good looking and running car
Ahhh, the sound and quick start of that motor brings back memories! I also love the original California black plate - my '69 Wildcat starts with ZPA... I am surprised though, that you didn't show the rear sequencers or the headlight's eyelids...
@@quad5186 my parents bought it new in 67. I got my license in 81 and I had to pick either the 77 monte Carlo or the cougar. I took the cougar my sister got the Monte. Drove it into the mid 90's. Then kids. There went my cougar and dirt bikes. 60 now and just retired. I'm gonna start looking! Dad paid 3,402.00 still have the window sticker.
Almost identical to the Ford Mustang. But what I like about that Couger are those flip up headlights. It makes the front grill look really cool 😎 sharp looking car even in white 👌 😊
I’ve never really paid much attention to the differences between ‘67 and ‘68 but,it seems to me that the ‘67 looks much cleaner from the side profile than the ‘68. Those ugly marker lights on the ‘68 look so random and unplanned.
Like the Monza simplicity is the key to successful automotive business. Many automotive advancements came from the Fairlane and the Cougar but capitalism attempted to erase those advancements because the improvements were cheap and long lasting. The cheap was to make a fairlane desirable. The Cougar did that without compromise. It was fast, efficient and the size to appeal to someone that wanted those attributes. Most car makers (even today) attempt to make the lowest level presentation available with the highest level of options they can afford. That is what Cougar was then. Simple, fast and reliable (maybe) kept Ford in business to this day. Keep it simple, keep it fast keep it in business.
Could you imagine this rolling down the road with todays suspension and fuel injection, with a decent price so you could afford it, if they kept the original body they couldn't keep them in stock.

Wow! No kidding!
The car was that gorgeous.
Beautiful car! Growing up, my neighbor's son had one. Always liked watching him take it out for a cruise.
How much

Very beautiful car, great cars, easy to work on,
I have owned 2. I miss them both. First car 68, 302, 2v, automatic.
2. 69 Eliminator, 351, top loader 4sp.
What a beautiful car. Nice white and I love the fact she has the original gorgeous hubcaps. Congratulations!
One of the classiest cars ever built.
A friend of mine in high school had one. Great looking car with a stylish interior.
I was 10 when these came out. I was in love with the Mustang but this was a whole different ballgame (to a 10 year old).
That there is one gorgeous car! Thanks for uploading this! I’ll be cruising in my dreams with that beauty!

First car was a 67 lime Frost green with the 289! Damn I wish I still had that car!
Thanks, was trying to think of that color name. What year were you lucky enough to be driving that?

Great looking car ! I Had a68 GT.E 7 liter with the 427 ci - 390 hp engine , loved the car !…….
Very Nice Vehicle ❤😊
67 Mercury Cougar. If you were lucky. You could get a 390- C6 transmission. Great Car.
It would be nice to see those sequential indicators working.
My 2nd car….1967 Mercury Cougar GT - 390, four speed in Cardinal red, black vinyl top.
no spoiler - no hood scoop - no rally rims - no wild paint color ... just a simple & basic car ... I LIKE IT !!
And no stupid mags. Love me some factory hubs.
🔥this hit a Lil bit different my goodness dream car I dream about this ever night
Would love to have seen the turn signals in action.. (btw who forgot to check the bulbs b4 filming?! 😖😉)

My mom bought a 67 new when I was 6. She gave it to me at 16. It was stolen 2 years later. I'm still pissed.
Love it; esp since its a black plate California car.

0:22 What car is this?
Needs 2 Hoods the One it comes with and One with a Hole in it if you get my Drift.
67’s also had a V6 as standard right? Like the mustang?
No
68 not 67
Very nice they don't make them like they used to these cars are still here for a reason they were built to last
