Interestingly in A level economics in the UK we studied the kinked demand model of oligopoly. Though maybe this was because it doesn't require the maths of Cournot/Betrand.

To sell more quantity in a monopolistic market or cartel you have to reduce price of all the quantities, doesnt happen in perfectly competetive market as price dont change with quantity
