The experts would say it's too dry on top and too wet at the bottom, I've heard Tom Kilcer describe it as feet in the freezer head in the oven yet being the correct average temperature. Though for what you're doing with it and the fact you need the oats I can't see what else you could do better without losing the oats. So good job in my book Ben.
Been running jd balers for years..... On the 4x6 baler the windrow needs to be 4ft wide ....I run a Deere 4 x 6 round baler maximum pressure in green.... Try it... should make a perfect square shoulder bale..
Looks like you got peas and oats figured out. Only thing I do different is rake 2 windrows together the night before as then baling goes way faster. Aslo I assume you are thinking 150 pounds of ams per acre not 150 units of sulfur? Have you tried adding in some boron? Anyways keep up the awesome videos. Think you will be very happy with the afx 469.
Looks like you could lay out the windrows more yet. Silage the tighter the better. A moisture tester is a must in my opinion I use 2 one on baler and one hand held. I know on the older deere baler's you would set them at least 2 to 3 o clock if you wanted a bale with weight. I learned the hard way year's back to buy bales by the weight not by the bale.
if you sell your rolls what do you do for pricing. i find some high quality Alfalfa for sale - same size rolls and weight and then add 30 percent for pricing. The dairy farms go after the peas (Cow candy) they have never complained about the price. i am going to increase the price per roll another 15 percent this year.
Do you have any intentions to spraying the grasses out of that field. If it’s pure stand of alfalfa anyhow. I know since we started spraying grasses out the stand has stayed pure much longer
Looks like those peas and oaks dried down well, love watching your video's. Hello from Hamilton Michigan.

Soon as you touched it I just audibly went "ooOoh", yea Ben I hear it bud. Niiice!
I’d take 1000 acres with that crop. Yes. Spoiled damned cows and bulls. Gourmet round bales.

How did you buy bales by weight? Did you go off sellers estimate or did you have a method of weighing them?
@@zaccorter78 You weigh your load minus the empty and take an average. Best to buy hay or straw by the pound it fair for all parties. Cheers
I would like to know what you do after you've picked the corn to bale up the stalks?

Nice video l would like to know how many bales were bailed
Juice running out of equipment is excellent in a dairy end of things. Beef i can understand is a no no
My cows would cross state lines for a bale.
What kind of protein number are you averaging on the pea oat blend ?
if i had a few more acres i wouldnt mine trying peas and oats, then no till sudan grass in around may after the peas
great video, who does ur wrapping?
I do....with a borrowed wrapper.👍
@@veesercattleco.4111 ok i understand
How do you like your John Deere baler?

Something to look into, but no we don't.👍
Get a New Holland baler if you want dense bales
