Smart for coach to push transition game with CC's passing ability. If the wings can get out there, CC will find them.

Yeah, it’s going to take some time for this team to jell. Clark has played in a system for four years that is transition, push the ball. Not many players on this team have played at the pace Caitlin did at Iowa. They’ve had limited time to build that chemistry and figure out what pace will optimize the talent on this team the most.

Coach, it seemed like Dallas had a gameplan. Hard picks, pushing and grabbing CC. I believe this is the way the league will play CC. It would help if the Fever would do the same thing to their guard. It is important that the league understand you have her back. You attack our player we will do the same. I am not saying it was dirty because it was not. This is a league wide Clark Rules just like Jordan Rules.

As an alternative, the coach & Fever's talent can develop ways like, when two bunch up on Clark, Clark is such a floor general and the rest of the Fever have explosive talent, so they can turn things into a 4 on 3 advantage. Not easy, but I'll bet they are working to exploit such moments. Nail the defense a few times & it'll back off.

I dont watch WNBA(now I do), I now know about 7 players by name. Lexie Hull, Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink(LA) Aliyah Boston, Erica Wheeler, Arike(Dallas), Sevgi Uzun
(Dallas - Turkey Player). We are now starting to tune in and see whats up, who can play... Id would have liked to see CC use her pivot foot on that blocked shot at the end of the game. She could have spun towards the left with ball in her right and pump fake- pivot, maybe dished to Boston. Other than that, good job WNBA. We are all tuning in.

Coach Side... With 24 sec on the clock you know the standard play is to delay and get the clock down so Indiana cannot get the ball. You know they're going for 2pt or 3pt.
Next time you in that tied situation... immediately foul .. don't let them own the clock... and make them shoot for 2. You have a 75% chance they only make 1pt. Now you own the clock and have 22 or 23 seconds with the ball, they won't foul you guaranteed. Now you have the advantage b/c your best shooter has a greater that 75% chance to score and win the game... give the ball to your best shooter and go for 2 or 3.

Christie was surprised by Caitlin asking for a substitute already in the first quarter but...I think it was probably the enormous excitement and adrenalin rush for Caitlin that was wacking her out at that point. I doubt that it was a lack of conditioning---unless the fact of not having any real off season between March madness and this start of the WNBA season is draining Caitlin's resources more than she realizes. But if you ask me, she was just over-hyped with excitement about her first WNBA match and just needed to chill a bit to let her adrenalin levels subside to human dimensions. :)

Now I realized why the Fever drarfted 3 guards, the pacing was brutal on guards. CC was gassed and needed some more rotation until she gets more conditioning. I can see a path forward that we play with small lineup (3 guards) until we can find another wing shooters other than Katie Lou.
I can see CC needs more conditioning in order to run the floor and shoot her transition 3s. Someone else also needs to run with her to receive the pass inside for layups. Even such greats as Taurasi takes plays off which is why she had the break up with Skylar Diggins.
Celeste and Lailani better develop quickly, even famous rookies like Nika Muhl don't have a guaranteed spot and she will likely be cut. Most fitting of a Geno coached players. With the injury to guards, there is an opening to secure a spot.

That said, it's gonna be hugely beneficial to CC and the team as a whole for her and Erica to get a leg up with their on-court chemistry while Kelsey is out because playing them together during the season will help relieve some of the pressure Caitlin is undoubtedly going to face throughout the year, and letting her play off ball at times will help keep her energy up over the course of the game (eg. It is Boston's job as the team leader to make sure Clark feels like she is really a part of the team and valued. I think Clark is feeling all the pressure and isn't getting the support she needs from anyone on the team including the coaches. I think EW is trying but even that seems a bit artificial. Whats so toxic about Caitlins following is that they will blame everyone around her..they WILL degrade her team and coach. These are new fans of Caitlin and NOT the WNBA. These people believe that the team should be built around Caitlin or for some reason she doesnt have enough. Iowa was not a bad team, when you have a player that will take 40 shots, to me.. thats a red flag because once defense was changed with Caitlin it was proven she could not score. This is just pre season real WNBA fans that have followed this league will tell you that the challenge only intensifies. Calling out rookie of the year Boston, and her team..stating they are not good and cant keep up with Caitlin when Caitlin was the one who looked at her coach because SHE couldn't keep up with the pace of the W is an entire slap in their face. I will tell you this..C.C did not bring a "good" following. Men are watching who have never taken a moment to learn the style of the W..women are watching who honestly dont have a clue about sports. Put these two groups in a room, and you have the most prideful mean hearted following. I know the WNBA is excited, but this is not the following they've been waiting for. These are not authentic fans of the WNBA, and if this team loses, they will praise Caitlin and literally tear down the entire team. Caitlin fans are toxic. I would rather the WNBA go back to how it was then to embrace this. Never has it been a black and white thing, but the new following have been degrading other young girls based on their skin and popularity. This isn't good. Her following alone will destroy the Fever. This was not the exposure the W has been waiting for.
