I swear I've watched all your videos a thousand times but this is the first time I've seen this video. Weird. Anyway, I really enjoyed the northlane! I've always wondered how Nic's writing process is to come up with the stuff he creates.

I dont completely understand the porcupine tree groove. The hand are doing a 3/4 poly (or 2/3 if you count eight notes.) Are the feet doing a continious 6/16 pattern?

The section is in 4/4, with the right-hand accenting quarters on the crash and ghosting 8th's on the ride. There's kind of a 3/16 type of phrase between the left hand and the feet: a 16th on snare followed by four 32nd's singles with the feet. Due to the 3/16 nature of the phrase, it loops fully (IE snare come back around to land on the 'One') every three bars of 4/4.

Brent Rodgers Thanks for explaining. I've been practising groupings of 4 on the bass lately, so this groove will be a great excercise. You're videos are great man, rock on.
