  • In late November, Tim and I moved into our new house and scheduled a small Christmas gathering with friends for December 21, 2013. I secretly started crafting a wedding proposal.
A few days before the party, I casually mentioned that he'd be opening a very special present somewhere during the party, which piqued his interest. The next day, we realized that a severe ice storm threatened the state, our party, and my plans. The day before the party, we (sadly) canceled the party due to the strong threat of snow and freezing rain that would make traveling a nightmare.
On Saturday, some friends (who knew of the thwarted proposal) asked me about alternate plans, but I didn't have any yet. At the same time, other friends encouraged us to hold the party since the storm never happened. So, at 3:00 in the afternoon we sent an Evite that announced "the party's back on!" Those who hadn't already made plans decided to come.
As we prepared the house, Tim saw me put a wrapped present in the fridge. I told him he couldn't touch it! (He thought, as you'll see in the video, that it was the special present (chocolate) that I was going to give him during the party.)
Back up a bit... two days before the party while shopping with my bestie, I found the perfect ornament and had it inscribed with the question, "Tim, Will You Marry Me?". Tim and I often talked about getting a special ornament to commemorate our first Christmas in our new home together, but we never got around to it.
So... the party was set, the situation was tweaked, Chris had the rings, and the "special ornament" was ready to be opened! Tim was completely surprised and overtaken emotion, shock, and joy. I'm so happy he's in my life, and I look forward to spending the rest of it with him as husbands.
    I love you, Tim!
