I'm an Anglican Priest in the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and I get to serve in the Parish of St Margaret of Scotland, in the beautiful city of Halifax, NS, that sits on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people.
My pronouns are he/him/his. My theology is primarily Christo-centric - Jesus is at the centre and it is against Him that all values are bounced off. I believe all people are created in the image of God and are children of God and are heirs to the throne of God - no conditions - therefore every single person we meet deserves our love, and respect.

What? A church embracing change in society? Artists reflecting the people in the country? Sounds like a lovely idea.
Gods word NEVER changed. Silly fake pastors destined to hell were corrupted
Galatians 5:14-15
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
"The Bible says a lot of things about a lot of things." Universal comeback. Great stuff!
God said those things, until HE says different ur ego is in the way of heaven
@@HomeTheftNoticer-kh3di sure, but what if we disagree on our understanding of what He said?
@@HomeTheftNoticer-kh3di I have an ego that could use some shrinking to be honest, but that won't keep me from heaven. Jesus saves, not a small ego.
I was raised in a very conservative Christian faith. A friend of mine who joined my church when she was in her late teens told me about her first experience with the church. She was invited to a dance at the church by one of her friends who was a member. So she got gussied up for a dance. She wore a lot of heavy makeup and a very short skirt and she prepared to have a good time. She was dressed in a way that did not meet with the approval of that very conservative Church. None of the boys there would dance with her, none of the girls would talk to her. She was exceptionally stung by this behavior and prepared to leave early. As she was getting ready to leave, she happened to run into one of the local ecclesiastical leaders in the hallway. He smiled at her, asked her her name, and told her he was glad she had come. That one exchange encouraged her to give the church another chance.
Love triumphing over hate. Awesome.
Without love for one another we are nothing🗣💜
...or worse. Love,
Flamy Grant is a miracle.
This album will be instrumental in healing so many lives. This artist has rocked my world. I am in tears from the lyrics of these songs. So beautiful.
Ed, you da man. Peace!💜
As another "long-haired freaky person", this is the message we should focus on... and I'm a "high church" kinda guy that loves the structure of liturgical worship, but I can also love and appreciate music like Flamy's for simply what it is...
In my world, we need both!
I no longer believe, Brother Ed, but I can with all my conviction appreciate your messages and your inclusivity of those even like me. No lines. Thank you.,
I believe not to judge a book by it"s cover but the content of their heart. I'm a black man that use to supervise work release crews. One day they put a white supremist on my crew. He had all the tattoos, lighting bolts, swastika, the whole bit. He turned out to be one of the nicest people I ever met, and one of the best worker's I had. Years later I was in one' of our local city when I heard someone call my name, it was that man calling me and introducing me to his wife and kids. He was a lot different than what he looked. I hear you talk the talk but do you walk the walk.
Humans can not fit in the box that a majority of Christians have created for our creator. We are loved beyond all understanding all of us, he knows where we are and he is there too🙏
Thank you. We Christians are very quick to draw lines delineating who’s in and who’s out. And we’re always careful to put ourselves inside the lines and those other people outside.
But Jesus always stood with those outside the lines.
As a gay man I’ve been told all my life that I’m outside the line by certain types of Christians. But I also know that nothing in all creation can separate us - and me - from the love of Jesus Christ.
Amen!
I love that you know you are loved by Jesus Christ!! Hallelujah!!🙏🏻❤️
Amen.
I believe we need a separation of church and state because we're called citizens, voters, constituents, neighbors, family. In the secular world we are not classified as "members" or "non-members." No human being who contributes to their community, pays taxes (or doesn't, but especially if they do!) should ever be considered a "non-member" of society by people who consider themselves to be our "betters." Christ knows what's in our hearts and he wants us to be authentic. I don't know why this popped back into my feed, but I guess I had more to say. ✌️Happy New Year!
Father Nathan Monk led me to Flamy Grant. Haven't listened to "Christian music" for years. This I can love. I am building my own "church" for my spiritual life: two Anglican priests on RUclips, a former Russian orthodox priest, a female Lutheran minister covered in tattoos, a Franciscan priest, and a female rabbi. Now I have Christian music by a drag queen. Haven't enjoyed "church" so much in years.
Amen!! ❤❤❤✌🏻✌🏻
May I ask who the other Anglican priest and the female rabbi are? I am with you on all the others!
@@janephalen396 Church@Home with Rachel I think is the RUclips name. The rabbi is a local synagogue in my area that broadcasts Zoom services on RUclips. It's Congregation Bene Shalom in Skokie, Illinois.
@@bettycarey2446 thanks!

Rev Ed.. THANK YOU for practicing what you preach. Thank you for your KINDNESS... ❤ OLD Jean from South Africa😊
Jesus said no to sin. Condoning Sin as a "pastor" is another level of false prophecy that wont end well. Jesus is King, not Ed
@@HomeTheftNoticer-kh3diand neither are you. Judge not lest ye be judged. I only write this because of the tone of your comment, not because I judge (condemn)you. Jesus had a bigger problem with the righteous of society (Pharisees Sadducees scribes) than he had with the sinners . He had more of a servant’s attitude than a royal ‘I am your king attitude’. What I hear from Rev Ed is acceptance of a person in spite of their faults, sins, beliefs, just as Jesus did
The Bible says "If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity”. The world needs more wise and openhearted people like the reverend. What it does not need is your fear and shame based and religion, nor do we need a book that contains such malevolent and foolish rules.
Also from south Africa. I love seeing us - you, here
I cannot imagine that Jesus has any ANY hangups with people who He can love. And he can love us all, he knows us after all.
After getting clean and sober over 18 years ago. I have learned that attraction over promotion is the best path. Unfortunately in my town I see no attraction to God's message of love. Even in my own family, which is very sad. Wishing my community had a messenger like Ed. God Bless
Hello my Dearest Brother, what a wonderful and special video this is. As Glenn and I listened, our thoughts and hearts began to rejoice in the knowledge that we are not wrong; the the drawing of lines is truly man made and that God packages his incredibly gifted creations in many ways. Hallelujah and a mighty Amen! Just so you know, Glenn was so touched that he got up, hug the tv and then kissed you on the head! We are so humbled and grateful that we are Framily! Hugs all around, Dr. Abby 🤗
Haha, I love that! 😁❤
Love.
If the lines are drawn, we will miss out on so much that could enhance our life experience.
I hope Flamy Grant hears about and watches this.
Ed...just so you know you reached me when I thought no one could. It's because you preach like this that you are able to do it please keep up the good work
I love it when a person is not in my face or not over the top with their beliefs, toward me.
Never heard of this Flamy grant before, but now i gotta listen to their stuff.
Thank you for sharing another timely message. As an '80s kid who listened to Petra, Stryper, Rez and Amy Grant, I wonder how many people know that Marylin Manson once went to a 'Christian' church and was treated so horribly (because of how he looked) that he vowed never to return again - most know 'who' he is today and what his music is about...Mahatma Ghandi said that he would have embraced Christianity were it not for how he was treated upon entering a church. Some things will never change unless we stop drawing lines - putting God in our boxes. CWW is a great place to see that - thank you, Pastor Ed! 🕊️🫶🏼
Thank you as always ❤ I haven't seen the real light of God shine through a pastor since my childhood priest. I had given up until I discovered your channel.
You give me a bit of hope for humanity Reverend. Thanks.
Rev Ed, I've been watching this since Feucht came for Flamy. She such an amazing singer.
AMAZING!!! I’ve been a HUGE FG fan for five days and counting. I can’t stop listening. They are living in my head!!💜
Rev Ed, I am an ELCA Lutheran and I have the Lutheran Study Bible. So, I looked up the verses about cutting your hair and Tattoos. This is how they understand it. That the cutting of your hair and tattoos marking your bodies was a typical mourning practice of the time.
Flamy Grant siad that they put "Good Day" as last on their album so that's its uplifting lyric could be the last word/song heard. It is the number one song from their album!
I walked away from the Christian church 35 years ago (in highschool) when it became clear it was all about how you looked and NOT what you believed. I watched deacons of this same church escort a homeless man out of the sanctuary who was just sitting in the back bothering no one and listening to the sermon. I have since learned being a good person has NOTHING to do what building you go into each sunday. That said, I keep coming back here because Ed is the real person and delivers a message that people can hear.
Love is what we need, and having the willingness and wisdom to accept our neighbours as they are, without any judgement. Thank you Ed for your kind words
Amazing! Thank you for the inspiration!
Rev. I always feel so uplifted after listening to you. I have come to believe that trying to find the Creator in every person I meet is my focus. You re-enforce this. Thank you.
You have Surpassed Bible Fu and Entered the Realm of Spirituality Fu. Well done. Love is EVERYTHING. I am working on it. Also, "Flamy Grant" is the best stage name EVER!!!
@@VincentValentine33 I haven't either not a big fan of Christian music. It just missises me.
@@VincentValentine33 There were a couple of "Hard Christian Rock" bands and none of them tempted me. I am angry. ALL THE time. I use music to release it so I don't take it out on those around me. I will not be my father. So I need something that says, "Yeah I see you, I am angry too." Judas Priest is still best at it. Or old Pre radio Scorpions.
Faith, hope, love. And the greatest of these is figuring out who is wrong.
Whaddya mean that isn't how it goes? 😜
Ha ha
You are a wise man. Jesus was inclusive and non-judgmental in regards to a person's appearance or class. The light of God can be found within many vessels.
"The light of God can be found within many vessels." That is awesome!
Israel -- via the Torah -- was designated by the G-D of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to be HIS light to all nations. It's written as plain as day.
Jesus was not inclusive, but came for Israel not dogs
@@bmccleaf2311 -- It is true that in the 15th chapter of Matthew, a non-Jewish woman begged Jesus for help, and he declined, using the analogy about "dogs." He told his disciples not to go to the Gentiles and Samaritans but only to the "lost sheep" of the house of Israel.
I believe it was a matter of priorities. Israel had to find itself first, re-establish itself in Torah, and then fulfill its mission to be a light to all nations. These are amazing times.
But then she answered him back and he said, 'ma'am, you got me' and healed her daughter.@@yabits
I guess the standard that we should try to emulate is that of Jesus. What lines did He draw? Food for thought, and for meditation and prayer in our private moments. Can we do that? Amen
Also, you should check out Flamy singing with Derek Webb (formerly of Caedmon's call) in his song "Boys Will Be Girls." Beautiful song.
I saw that the other day! Brilliant
@@revedtrevors4961it made me weep. Hearing a voice of my youthful worship and faith singing that gave me such hope.
What a wonderful video! Thank you, Reverend!!!
When I was in the service. A guy wanted me to be part of his church.
So I asked him to tell ( I don't believe in religion only God, this is a perfect example) me about his church.
He starts off with it. It is great. The men can't have long hair,beards/mustaches, and can't wear rags/suits only.
The girls, shoulder-length hair, dresses below the knees ...etc.
NOT ONE WORD OF THE GOOD THEY DO FOR HUMANITY AND ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN DOCTRINE. NOT,NOT EVEN JESUS WOULD BE ALLOWED IN!!!
All about control
Amen. Thank you Reverend❤️
Love em all. Let God sort it out.
And some of these critics are the very people who Jesus is talking to when he says invite people to your table who can never repay , those on the fringe, the disabled, the sick , the poor. Humbling ourselves daily is something we all need to do
Hi Ed, great video. Jesus never told us to draw lines, did he? Drawing lines can't be combined with love. Drawing lines always make someone being on the other side of the line and because of that will not feel enclosed and welcomed. I really like towards the end of the video where You pray that we shouldn't draw lines, but also ERASE already drawn lines we may stumble over! Many thanks for this video, will certainly look for Flamy Grant music.
I found Flamy Grant last fall and love their music!
Love is for everyone, Jesus said to love all and change is necessary for us to move ahead in this world.
Many have said this and now it's you who's saying it - wonderful. Love.
Yep, nobody is denied salvation & grace by the judgement of anyone but Christ. Everyone who hasn’t achieved grace is one choice away from salvation. That salvation & grace is not bestowed by people but God & the person in question’s heart.
You don't 'achieve grace' - you have been given grace. Grace is a gift not an accomplishment. And the gift is given to all.
And the sign says "long hair freaky people need not apply"
So I put my hair under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine outstanding young man I think you'll do
So I took off my hat I said "Imagine that Huh Me working for you"
All those lines are what keeps me from being a Christian. And I learned of Flamy Grant from The Friendly Atheist, lol.
Not only top of the charts, but also top of the Country Music Charts. How's that for a 'Miracle'!
Thank you Rev. Ed, something to think about very deeply.
When I was young, "Banned in Boston" was the saying that drove movie attendance or book sales.
When I was a young man, I worked in a record store a few different times. One of my co-workers, another young man, was working through some problems. He was born again, We both loved music so we could connect that way. I found out that He was having a personal relationship (sounded like he was being exploited) with a (at the time) very famous Christian singer. Doesn't seem like it ever came out, other than a few rumors.
Too many Christians don't have a problem living secret lives. Forgiveness as a crutch is just too common, if your Heart hasn't changed you are not ready for forgiveness.
Rev, thank you! Your words resonate because they describe the God I know perfectly! May your channel grow to reach more people. I am blessed to have been lead to you.
Jesus Sowned the seed. Who are we to trample on the crops to pull weeds? Matthew 14;24-30.
I identify as a long-haired hippie child, even though my hairline declared retreat long ago😂😂
hey thanks so much for this. it’s extremely helpful and deeply appreciated.
Thank you for all you're doing! Amazing and beautiful stuff! God bless!
This message is amazing.
As a biker ... Methodist Minister friend said... keep the door open...or take it off..
Love that!
Thank you
There’s nothing like free publicity!
The lines I draw are more meant to make my cage more restrictive and prison-like, keeping ME away from "them". For whom is the fence really being built?
Thanks for your video, Ed. Love.
God judges us according to our hearts, not our outward appearance.
Now I have new music to search out.
God doesn't need my help in judgement. Instead he calls me to be an exsmple that draws people to Him. The rest He can handle.
Rev Ed I feel every time someone outcasts another saying this is not Christian they them selves push themselves farther from Christ, and alienate themselves from Christianity. As they draw their lines as you say they forget it is a long climb to Heaven, but a short slide to Hell.
I'm going to go find that song now!
*chuckling*
30 years ago, I got my first tattoo, something that only a certain type of "lady" got back in those days. But I didn't care, I liked the artistry, the symbolism, the permanency, and the rebelliousness of it all. I remember my now husband's sister's boyfriend who was a biker and had covered his left arm with tattoos, a sleeve before sleeves were a thing. But he disliked my tattoo that I was so happy with saying that he only got tattoos on his nondominant arm because when the second coming happens, he is risen from his grave by Jesus, and his tattooed arm will not rise with him as it is sinful, but he will still have his dominant arm to take up his sword to fight in the army of god. Having been raised Catholic, I had no idea what he was talking about, zombies for god, maybe? Why would god need dead people to fight his battles and why would it matter if they had tattoos? But I remember thinking that if a tattooed biker didn't like my tattoo, that he thought it was unladylike, then I did something wrong and I didn't want anymore tattoos. I didn't want my flamboyant blue hair, my clothing style, the things that separated me from others, the differences that made me stand out as so different, no one wanted me including any higher being. We think those lines in the sand are there to reign people in, but they are there to control and dominate, to other, to separate out the weirdos, the undesirables. We limit ourselves and humanity by those fake ideals of what a perfect person should be. The best drug counselors are recovering addicts for a reason and they have so much to offer, and yet we judge others on tattoos, hairstyles, and god forbid, on who and how they dress and how they love, not seeing how much hate and venom we spew out in our judgment of others. how very unchristian it makes us look and sound.
Good morning, Rev Ed. Thank you for this.
What a great reflection. I think it's way past time for humans to let God do his job and judge people as He decides to and we should be busy with making sure we live as we should.
It's too bad attacks against unhoused people don't result in increased care and concern for unhoused people.
We felt rejected from our church twice, both times due to what we felt was backwards thinking. Long time ago. We haven’t been back. Honestly might attend again, but we have to know they would do better. By us and by our now trans child. Might look into it. Meantime Rev Ed, you will have to do, and you are doing the absolute best.
Best sermon sermon yet! Ed Trevor idioms. Not tedtalks, oh no, edtalks because they drew the line to early😂
When I first saw this, I thought it was a take on contemporary Christian singer AMY Grant!
Jesus says not to judge people, so you're right about drawing lines. It's not our place to judge others; just to welcome and accept them.
Amen
Never heard of her and just downloaded it ❤
Yet they can’t figure out why people are leaving the Christian church.
so true amen reverend
Amen Brother Ed.😊
Amen ❤
Drawing lines in the sand is a lot like building walls. The intention is to keep others out yet the reality is it succeeds at keeping the person drawing lines or building the walls inside a prison of their own making. A prisoner to fear. A prisoner to a mind that cannot grow into the full realization of God's innate wisdom and Grace.
❤😊❤😊 Thank you
Yes❤
...looking up Flamy Grant's album...
"Good Day" is an amazing place to start.
Hit tge nail on the head ❤
My father was covered in tattoos. He was as devout a Christian as could be, but he never spoke about it at all. When my little brother got his ear pierced, my father got his pierced as well. My brother now has multiple piercings and a few tattoos.
I went the opposite direction. Not a single tattoo, but my hair hangs to my belt. My father never criticized in the slightest. My only piercing was a Sun Dance that I took part in at a fairly young age. My father never questioned it because it was my choice and it followed his father’s religion.
We all come to God in our own way. We all wear our own skin. The scars on my chest from an Animist ceremony honored my father’s father and my father honored his father by not refusing it. My father had an American Baptist mother, an Animist father and a Catholic stepfather, and that was in the ‘60s. My father learned to lead, not preach. He was the most non-Christian Baptist you could ever hope to meet. He raised me to be the most Christian non-christian that you could ever meet.
He died in ‘95. It was a few hours before the Oklahoma City bombing, which was just about a fifteen minute drive from his boyhood home. His Catholic stepfather handed me the knife to cut off my own hair in mourning, which may or may not have been a sin for a Catholic. That may have also been repaying the favor for my waiting for an audience with John Paul II to get a papal blessing for him.
When I hear about drag queens singing gospel, it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I can’t imagine that the Christian God would be offended by it. When I hear that a priest has tattoos, I can’t imagine God would be offended by that either. The only thing that I could see the Christian God being offended by is the preacher who condemns such things.
“In my Father’s house, there are many rooms and many ways to get there…”
I'd never heard of her, but I love her stage name! I'll have to check out her music!
Very good, thank you
Amen 🙏 ❤
Spiritual discernment and "drawing lines."
Shalom. A wise elder once told of the difference between a bee and a fly with regards to discernment. A fly will land on sweet things, for sure, but it will also feast upon piles of $hit.
A bee knows how to draw the lines. The elder said to be like the bee.
If you are searching for reasons to exclude, the Bible has plenty. The only one you need if you want to include is, "Love your neighbor as yourself." It is all about a focus on "me" instead of "us."
"If you are searching for reasons to exclude, the Bible has plenty." -- Hold it there a second. If you are speaking of Torah, the Creator of the Universe instructed the children of Abraham as to what was clean -- and unclean. The Jews were to exclude ALL things identified as UNCLEAN.
Gentiles could eat pork and shellfish, but it was an abomination for HIS people.
We love our fellow human beings, but when a "neighbor" sets up an idol for worship.... a LINE has been crossed. It is ALL about a focus on HaSHEM and His Torah. Go to Psalm One and read the first two verses.
Kwe. A lot of people sign up to be hall monitors for God. Nmultis.
Skillit!! I wore out my CD and tried for years to find a replacement, but it seems like people hold onto that one.
As a non-religious person I find your video's interesting. If more priests had your ideology the world would be a better place. I watch some left wing channels and sometimes they will bring up creatures like Greg Locke and it disturbs me that people like that have a voice that is heard by millions while they spew hatred and grift money from their followers. You seem to understand humanity and try to help people instead of demonizing them. To me the most important thing said in the Bible is Love Thy Neighbour, which is something that a lot of right wing Christian Nationalists in the US seem to ignore or forget. I respect your Bible, but when it comes to hate preachers? Nah their bible is nothing more than toilet paper.
Commentators are like barnacles biting on some shell fish to that they move, taking them where they want to go. Imagine criticizing an artist negatively in order to get a message out, get clicks but increase the volume of the criticized one by more than two-fold. I should be so criticized, Here, Markus, you mention a name and - zack - we think about THEM, which is what they want. They feed off others eating my indignation of them and what they have said.
Kinda funny.
"Stop drawing lines"... as I'm drawing lines with coloured pens on a piece of paper! lol
I draw lines to connect and be discrete as the individual is connected to the whole.
Amen!
What is "conform to my/our norm" if not passing judgement? And even worse, imposing one's will upon others?
I love Skillet and am disappointed in his stance given the lyrics of their songs. Very sad indeed the type of judgements people make. Maybe this message will make it to him and he will reconsider. Regardless...I love this message!
Delighted for Flamey, but sad to see where John Cooper's path has led him.
Cool.. thanks...
I like to ask people who complain about this stuff whether they eat shellfish. 😋
I remember when girls had to wear dresses to church and men had to wear ties.
