I lived in Los Angeles in 1968 and I was just like the little boy in the White t-shirt, about that age. I'm 56 now been in Texas since 1972 but driving OTR now and sitting in a truck stop in Mira Loma lol.
Wow! I was 8 years old and in 3rd grade at this time, living in Oceanside, CA. Dad was just retiring from the Marine Corps. He had already been deployed to Vietnam in '65 (his third war, WWII & Korea previously). Seems like almost every family had a dog or two back then, especially German Shepherds, Collies, Irish Setters and Labs! Love how we, especially the ladies and girls, used to dress up for church, just like the mother and daughter in the film! Coincidentally, we had gone to Disneyland that very same year! The footage of the theme park is exactly how I remember Disneyland looking back then! Our neighbors owned a metallic blue Chevy Impala similar to the white one in this video. Thank you so much for sharing and stoking some of my most fondest memories from the days of my youth!
My dad just got out of the Air Force in '68 in SF. Later that summer we headed cross country to board a ship to eventually arrive in Cape Town SA. I was almost 10 at the time.. I remember my last few years in the US very clearly. I returned in '79..
Very cool video! In 1968, I was 8 years old and we were living in a brick house in Alameda, California. We were right across the street from the Alameda Naval Air Station airfield, and I used to spend hours sitting on our front porch and watching the F-4's, A-4's, and other aircraft take off and land. Good times and good memories! Thanks!
My family has similar type footage from the 1964-65 Worlds Fair held in out in Flushing Meadows, in Queens, NYC. Your clip reminded me of it. It transported me back to those times for a brief moment. Thanks for posting.
Three short years after the hart celler immigration act which opened up the floodgates for the global south to pour in, still unnoticeable by then in most of California.
CAN'T believe after 10 years this very cool footage of home movies in 1968 only got a very, VERY LOW AMOUNT OF VIEWS! Other stupid hairbrain videos get shit loads of views . What the hell is wrong with society. Sad ....
It's weird how these days you have almost unlimited film time, but in the real film days it was very limited and expensive, plus processing, you would have to focus set f stop etc ,now it's all automatic with phone's
I can just imagine getting in that car with hot vinyl seats and the permanent stench of Summer heat cigarette smoke!

Awesome movie! Thanks for sharing. Btw, I was just a baby in 1968!

My dad was born in Los Angeles in 1968, things changed so much since then, when everything and everyone was still vastly seperated.
1973 was when the Los Angeles School system was penetrated by the Marxist Feminists, and classes went from managed, to drugged and crazy.

0:30 Wow that looks like one of the older brothers from the band The Cowsills. Crazy
You're right.....amazing resemblance! 🤔

Your second, "Oh, ain't it awful" comment. We get it Ken, you're disappointed in people.
Der Matterhorn hasn't changed ein bit!
Look at parts of CA now. Oakland for example. Not indifferent from these clips. Where did it all go wrong?
How come I don't see collies anymore? A lot of people had collie dogs back in the day. Lassie, Lassie! lol

Why did you stretch the aspect ratio? That totally ruins the experience.
🇯🇵とは違って🇺🇸は経済がかなり進んでいるように感じる
Unfortunately, poor digital copy. Way too dark.
Sorry, the quality of this video is just unacceptable.
It's 54 years old, the film has degraded, is filmed on a cheap camera and taken by an amateur.
@@gordon3186 I understand, but this makes it hardly watchable.
its from 1968 and its great framerate fym unwatchable
