Thank you for the useful information. I always appreciate you videos, Jenn. You have such a calm, and relaxed voice, making your videos lovely to listen to, and easy to understand. I have a question: my dahlia seeds sprouted after only 3 days here in Australia during summer but in an airconditioned room. I put them outside after they developed their first set of true leaves, but when I took one out of the seed container, I was disappointed to see very poor root development. None of the seedlings were robust, and were struggling to produce their next set of leaves after being outside for 5 more days in a part sun, sheltered position the garden. The actual leaves that they had were green and healthy, though. Question: Is this slowed growth normal after such a rapid germination? Should I have been fertilising them as soon as they germinated? I s it possible that fungus gnats could have eaten their roots? I didn't notice any gnats around them. Would these dahlia seeds do better planted directly into the ground? I am so sorry to bother you with questions when you are so busy! 🌻🏵🌴🌼🌺
Hi! Maybe you could give some advice on hardening seedlings. We are moving and this year or seedling room is in different town in apartment building and doesn’t have any outside space. Las year we put them straight in or green house after transporting to farm and they did get sunburns. We have few sheds available in farm but no light or temperature control - which one would be better - straight to green house - got light, but temperatures are higher then outside or shed without any of that. Never through before of hardening and last year we had lot off them damaged
Thank you for this information. I have never grown Dahlias from seed, and when I grew them from tubers I am sure that I didn’t plant them deep enough and they dried out at a quicker rate. I live in the sub tropics in Australia and so our wet season makes it a little harder to grow new plants, as they are more prone to fungus and mealy bugs 🐛. When do you think it would be best time to start dahlia seeds or should I wait until there is a break from the constant rain? We are having an extra wet rainy season this year, and lots of humidity.
Thank I enjoy the vidio .👏
at how many weeks would you put out in the garden? i have some that 7 weeks, not sure if i should put them out yet
Thank you for the great demonstration. I'm growing dahlias from seed for the first time this year.
My dahlia seeds germinated in 2 days. Grew them very late in the year but I actually got blooms! Family Dollar seeds, 50 cents but worth it!

How big are the seedlings when you first fertilize them?
Is it possible to take cuttings from Dahlia seeds since you have to pinch when they are 6” tall?
Hi Chris! Yes, absolutely.
What success do you have with your seeds as ball or Dinner plate, because you're Dahlias are an Amazing sight ! I will be ordering soon
How successful is seed growing dahlias
How often do you water once baby plant 🌱 pops up?
So they need to be repotted before they get planted in the ground?
We usually do bump them up into a 4” pot before and let them grow a bit more before planting them out. We like for them to be nice and big.
after putting in seeds and watered them do i need to keep watering them before they germinate
Yes, keep the soil really moist until they sprout
How many seeds have you put in each section?
We usually put two seeds in per cell.

4-5 weeks before your last frost date.
I am new to gardening and was confused. You said they germinate at 70 degrees. Is that 70 degrees all night long too?
It can get a little cooler than 70 at night, but not much. Temperature regulation is important with seed starting.
What zone are you in again?

Dahlias corms are so expensive that seeds make sense.
Yes, dahlia tubers are more, the benefit is you know what it will look like. Seeds are fun because you don’t know what it will look like
