Maybe if this come back would happened years ago, some others in the original cast would joined them, but I think - looking around to this messy world - the timing is better now. I just expect this reboot to make an impact like the original did and to pay a great tribute to its legacy.

I love the show, a lot, but it was so absurdly transphobic that even "for the time" it was ridiculous? So um... yeah the show did do stuff wrong that they could have done differently. Leisha saying there is nothing to correct is just stupid, it wasn't the 70s... Every character cheated and then tried to justify it, Max's entire character and any related story lmao, biphobia (that was never really apologized for by the characters), making Jenny the most unrealistic character by the end was the shittiest writing in any show I've every enjoyed. Call it bad writing and move on, admit it was often inappropriate for it's own damn community. It's forgiven, but it needed to be acknowledged in some way and it really wasn't. The show was groundbreaking in many ways, and amazing in many ways as well. The fact that an explicit look into lesbian lives existed at all is mind boggling, and I'm THRILLED it's back! But the show was still about privileged characters fucking each other over in unhealthy relationships (not a single relationship was healthy, not a SINGLE one), and it's annoying to see the cast be like "we paved the way! season 6 was a mistake but no regrets lol"
M.S Richardson I would add that if they think the first L word was paving the way/groundbreaking, please let’s look back a bit further several generations to learn the real history of how it was for the gay community. Ellen was more groundbreaking in many ways. There were Lesbian communities creating their own cultural, creative and fun spaces than just bars etc. This was/is an entertaining and important link but hardly the reality most Lesbians are, were and have been living. They would do well to introduce some characters that never lived in L.A. for starters. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all in for a stylized high end camp but please, it’s mostly just a fun romp with some important points included. And yes, the original got lost into the 3rd or 4 th season. Geez, ditto on the terrible writing.
Michele Isam I completely agree! It wasn’t the first representation in media and thankfully it won’t be the last, there is no “book of lgbt” to represent every person in the community. The L Word will always be a fun show to look back on but it wasn’t always a positive representation for people. One of my first memories of Dana’s character was her insulting Alice for being bi (more than once) and even as later seasons went by, Alice started saying she was a lesbian. The writing was so inconsistent and sometimes deeply hurtful to certain people and I’m really hoping that this reboot will bring new discussions and less privileged characters and yes, if it goes well, I will see it as a “correction”. Also I miss when Helena was a bad bitch and I hope she is brought back if the show is successful (but written smarter).
M.S Richardson yes, It’s impossible to tell any story fully. That’s why we need more of them. I am of a different generation and there’s a whole lot of perspective missing in shows like this. But I also miss somethings of the younger generations as well. Lots of learning to contemplate.

It could just be the angle she's sitting and the lighting and makeup but it just looks different than what I've seen her to look like in interviews over the last few years
Ok but let's be honest here. There were only two cast members who were actual lesbians in real life...Alice (Leisha) and Shane (Kate). If you're going to have a lesbian show at least have REAL lesbians in it!!
If you want to get technical Kate doesn’t identify as a Lesbian which is part of the point they are trying to make. The new show has other characters that are part of the community. As long as the stories do us justice we should be happy.
