- A mother, Sharon Roberts of Chesapeake, Virginia, and a friend, Carol Nelson of Knotts Island, North Carolina, share this story of losing her Sharon's 39-year-old son, Shawn Roberts, to illegally manufactured fentanyl, and of losing Sharon's 46-year-old son, Robert Roberts to the fear of fentanyl in prescription drugs.
Illicit fentanyl is a dangerous, life-threatening drug frequently found in other illicit drugs and results in the death of 200 people per day in the US. This is just one of those stories and delivers an urgent warning to avoid all illicit drugs.

Naloxone, the active ingredient in 4mg Narcan and higher dose 8mg Kloxxado, along with many generic versions, can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available for free. Google it.

The pain of losing two kids must be unbearable. I'm so sorry you've had to know this type of loss. Both of your sons are walking right along with you as you continue to spread awareness and keep their legacy alive. Prayers sent your way. 🙏🙏
Sorry for the losses.. I’ve been on that shit before.. almost died. Got narcan went into withdrawal, left the ER against medical advice and went right back to get more of that fake dope.. so grateful to be on this side today.. the day I woke up without withdrawal I cried tears of joy!!!! That’s what I remember when I think of using
Unimaginable pain. The saddest part is that this isn't the only story on here of siblings dying from fentanyl.
I lost a lot people in my 30s years of life I been through a lot , my brother death was the hardest for me
I too lost my only 2 children 21 year old daughter and 22 year old son it's a struggle everyday
I cannot even begin to comprehend losing 2 children. I'm praying for strength and support for your family. You always have a home on this page. 🕊️❤️🙏
bless you for your raising awareness and fighting
Just want to say that i presented to the ER for the first time in my life, unknowingly having sciatic nerve pain….and the “dr” told me to take ibuprofen….like i hadnt thought about that while BED BOUND for days. I couldnt even walk to my kitchen to drink water. And my house is small. I had to have a mental breakdown in her (the “drs”) presence to get 6 hydrocodone 5mg in order to get from my house to my car to the drs office the following day. Thank God for the dr who actually listened. I feel terribly for these people who look
To the streets bc the drs DO NOT GAF.
In the Netherlands no doctor prescribes morphines! It is a HUGE problem in the YSA, the big amount of addicted people, who eventually use heroine for pain.
I have arthritis and degenerative arthritis in my back and neck. Chronically pain, and extreem nerve pain in arms and legs. No way in hell I would take morphine. If the pain is too much, you can get a pain block with a spine injection, works 5 months. And Ibuprofen indeed. Pain is something weird in the USA. It is a cultural thing. In Holland 73% of the children are born at home, we don’t do epidermal, you will NEVER get morphines unless you are terminal ill. Pain is not seen as scary or something terrible. My daughter ruptured all knee bands, the front and back. The made new ones with parts of her hamstring and patella bone. A BIG surgery. She went home in the evening and only got Voltaren and Ibuprofe. Was she hurting? Ofcourse, but with warm patches, pain killers and physiotherapy she managed. Sorry, but we Europeans see Americans and Britt’s as wimps.
You did the right thing.
@@monicacarolina6480 I don't care what you think of us Americans. All you guys do is send hate our way.
Such a strong women
Hey man if y’all don’t have anything supportive or positive to say or comment then just keep it to yourself. This isn’t a game y’all this is pain and suffering! Trauma and tragedy! The mental health community needs to band together like this Mom and spread awareness
Maybe the people who post negative things are angry at people they lost to drugs and have to live with it. Just saying ❤
This mom is AWESOME! I love her resolve and her strength. I love how focused and devoted to her mission she is!❤
She speaks beautifully and matter of factly. I feel she is a great speaker for this cause. I am so impressed by her. The one woman said she’s inspired by her. I can’t agree more: she is an inspiration. 🫶🏼
Stay strong in your mission mom! 💪🏼
My oldest son is 34 and His last name us Robert's. Thus struck a chord in my heart ❤️💙💜💖💗💘❤️💙
I am so sorry momma you lost 3 children. I lift you and your family up to the Father in heaven and ask Him to give you His peace that surpasses all understanding in your grief. 😢in Jwsus Name I pray.
I also had degenerative disc disease and had 3 major back surgeries. I was on opiods for 17 years through the doctors and put myself in detox and now am on seboxone. Clean 9 years and alive because of that medication. Fentanyl was just hitting the streets when I git clean. GOD BLESS YOU! GOD KEEO YOU, MAY HE SHINE HIS FACE DOWN UPON YOU AMD GIVE YOU HIS PEACE. 🥹🥺
And truth be told. They do not lace Xanax with herion. He probably bought herion and it was laced. I don't blame him he was in pain.
3? She lost 2, which is terrible and heartbreaking enough
I really can't imagine how that mother is, OMG, her 2 kids.
I lost mine 1 year and 8 months, and I am destroyed.
I'm so sorry for your loss. 💔🙏🕊
Sorry your losses brought you to this..what it seems is maybe a life purpose. May your words and the awareness you spread save many, many lives 🙏🏾
I am deeply sorry for your unimaginable losses. No words can truly ease the pain, but please know that my heart goes out to you during these incredibly difficult times. The loss of two precious sons is a tragedy beyond comprehension, and I hope you find strength and comfort in the loving memories you shared with them. Thank you for honoring your sons with us. Your story is saving lives. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers ❤🙏🏼🕊️🙏🏼❤️
I have never heard anyone describe what is going on with the Fentanyl epidemic in America any better than this Mom. It's like a plane crash every day with no survivors. How true sadly. I am encouraged that finally Fentanyl is being acknowledged by our government. It really makes you wonder why more to deal with this crisis has not been done honestly. I'm beyond sorry for the loss of your two sons. Thank you Texas Pictures for giving these families a platform.
I have two sons… my heart is with you 💔💔 Thank you *for sharing, you’re so brave. It’s ironic - that’s my nickname “smiley”… I truly feel that.
I'm so sorry, Mama. 💔 💔 Beyond heartbreaking. Thank you for helping others. May God be with you on your important journey. 🙏
So painful to watch beautiful souls leave this earth from hands of another. So sorry for your loss!! 🕊️💙🕊️

You can take PRESCRIBED pills from the pharmacy. Just never ever buy a pull from the streets😔
I am so sorry that you lost two sons, it must hurt so much as a mom. I live to see you have a fire inside to fight for awareness. Thank you and God bless 🙏🏼❤️
Can't imagine. So sorry mom
I'm so sorry you and your family had To experience This Terrible u bearable pain, prayers for you and your family .
Poor guy.
My heart goes out to you 💔
“A fake Xanax”. How exactly did they learn this in an autopsy? Xanax wouldn’t have helped his back pain. It’s very sad, but everyone needs to learn that these people take chances every time they purchase a narcotic from anyone other than a doctor or pharmacist.
@@gingin169 stop judging please!
It’s referred to as addiction. Please stick around and learn from these courageous parents and loved ones who are not only honoring their children but are educating us and saving lives 🙏🏼
It was my impression he took the Xanax to sleep not for his back pain.
As for the part of your comment, “Everyone needs to learn that these people take chances every time they purchase a narcotic from anyone other than a doctor or pharmacist,” I agree.
This is why this mother is spreading awareness. If it were such a simple task, we wouldn’t be losing people to fentanyl every day. Addiction, mistakes, poor choices, and/or poisonings are all contributing factors in one way or another to these stories. Not all are relevant to every story. At the end of the day, these are people. They have family and loved ones. Their lives have meaning and purpose. We are lucky enough to be living in the same space and time to hopefully learn from them and the stories shared about them.
I don’t think you made your comment to be malicious. I took it as a statement made in sort of desperation. It was like, look, you have to know this. Learn this. It’s important. The sad part is while you and I are here understanding your statement, unfortunately, someone else has missed the message and has passed away while I am writing my comment. So while others may view your comment in a negative light, I don’t exactly see it that way. I feel like it was more of a: wake up people👏🏼👏🏼
Some people may need that kind of delivery to see things clearly. As long as we are all fighting to get the word out there and help others, I feel like we all receive the messages in different ways. 😊
Anxiety and pain go hand in hand…
@@julesmbcNo, they don’t. Americans just easily get prescribed Morphines, which is unheard of in Europe, unless you are terminal
Ill. Ibuprofen, warm patches and physiotherapy. Or if the pain is chronically, like my arthritis in back and neck, they can place pain blockages with spine injections, 5 months way less pain. 73% of our children are born at home, epidurals are not a thing when in labor. NEVER EVER will you get prescribed morphines and we don’t have Fentanyl deaths. How people deal with pain, severe pain is a cultural thing. It is sad to see Morphines prescribed SO easily in the USA. especially after surgery. Scary as hell. Morphines start to work less and less and MANY Americans go for heroine. It is a cultural disease. Btw, I am an ER/ICU nurse.
RIP Shawn.
RIP Robert.
I am a recovering addict and count myself as blessed and I am terrified for our youth because you can't experiment and my prayer is for the beautiful moms that are so broken. How long are we going to have to wait before our leaders will quit looking over seas at wars that we don't need to be in when our fight needs to be right here at home it's OK to help out but tell me a country that is here helping us . I will wait, correct answer is NONE
She lost two sons?
Yes
@@MZTHICK76 Why? I just can't understand.
It’s a genocide

Gotta keep it in the family. No doubt.
Really?
