    Should E3 stay canceled?

Sorry to say, I had to look up “E3” because I didn’t have a clue what it was. From what I saw, the people putting it on decided to stop it. I didn’t read enough to find out why but whatever the reason…and there could be many good one and bad…it’s their call. Maybe in 10 years…or more…when the covid plague is over, they can do it again.

Yeah, E3 was the big one when you wanted to see what big games were coming out. Not as big of a deal these days.

I guess things like Game Pass but more so, certain RUclipsrs that get games ahead of the public, will hurt events like E3.

I disagree, I've always enjoyed E3 and miss it. I wish it was not canceled. Not because I've ever been there, but because of all the VG excitement it creates. I think you make some valid points towards improvement though. Just worried the precedent for not having it is now set...

That makes sense and I miss it too. You're right, it does set a precedence which isn't a good thing. But I do hope that it comes back next year and really does push things forward rather than just doing another E3 that game companies and publishers choose to skip again.

In my personal experience as a gamer, I feel that E3 became pretty irrelevant around 2012. Again, that's in my own personal experience. We have gaming news at our fingertips on a daily basis & there are so many leaks in the gaming industry, you'd think it was a ship about to sink. Even the games awards, I tried to watch, but it was the most boring thing I've watched & ended up watching the trailers I was interested in via RUclips.

Lol, same here. I couldn't sit through the whole thing so I watched a few catch up videos later. Not only did it not feel relevant, it's bloated with content the viewer rarely cares about. Hope things course correct, but time will tell.

@@BusyDadGaming The only convention(s) that still interest me are the comicons & that's only because you can get some classic comics/bundles dirt cheap & even trades that have been out of print for some time.

Yeah, I enjoy them too. I'll be going to Star Wars Celebration in May and looking forward to the convention floor.

While I like E3 and all, it’s just not with the times. Was has been the best things about E3 in recent years? The Nintendo Directs. Sony has copied that formula to I don’t think as good of quality but that’s what game companies should be doing. I don’t really see the use of E3 from at least the big 3. Maybe for Ubisoft and EA. The Game Awards have been fun in recent years 2017 and 2018 had me rooting for games like I’m watching the Super Bowl but they were definitely pretty awful this past year. I think BAFTA beat TGA this year.

I agree, E3 has muddled itself into mediocrity. Most companies have gone and done their own thing so it'll be interesting to see how next year turns out.
