Black Swan (the fortune teller like girl) is a being who can read, and even sometimes briefly control other people's memories.
Acheron, the quiet girl, has been very mysterious, but rumors are flying that she killed someone.
So Black Swan tries to get close to Acheron through this dance to read her memories. But...
She gets more than she bargained for and finds Acheron's deepest memories are too dangerous for her.
Meanwhile, Acheron usually has these intense memories blocked off from herself. She may or may not even be aware that Black Swan was prying.
We do know that Acheron very much enjoyed the dance though. In her voiceline about Black Swan, she calls their dance "warm and nostalgic" and even does a cute little sigh haha.
I really recommend joining back! The new world story is amazing, and yes Acheron is available right now and incredibly powerful!

@@jenninkb With the story now out we know that Acheron the "Ranger" is fueld by the power of Nihility, basicly the all consuming end of all thing symbolized by the black hole.
Black Swan is a Memokeeper, people preserving experiences and memories and the exact opposite of the Nihility. That's also why Acheron hjas problems remembering things.
When Black Swan dove into Acherons memories she got in contact with Nihility itself and got consumed and swalowed up on an exitstential level. She literally gazed into the endless abyss and the abyss gazed back.

It's a HoYo game before Genshin called "Honkai Impact 3rd" and the specific animation would be "Lament of the Fallen" unfortunately you would need to read subtitles because it's not available in English
For this specific one Japanese (JP) is the one I'd recomend because the VA fir the leading character is just too good.

The girls' names are Acheron, purple-haired girl with red eyes, and Black Swan, the fortune taler. They were both available to pull at some point and will probably come back in the future.
I don't know if you play Genshin Impact or Honkai Impact 3rd, but Acheron is heavily based on Raiden Mei (Honkai Impact) and the Raiden Shogun (Genshin). These are characters that are so beloved by the public and developers that they put her in every single game. There are lots and lots of references to Raiden Mei and Raiden Shogun in Acheron.
For now, Honkai has a bit too much to me in terms of lore, but I will try explaining what I think happened there. In my understanding, Black Swan was trying to figure out what happened to some people (explaining who they are would be a lot) and was suspicious of Acheron's involvement, so she tried to read her mind.
But Acheron is the Emanator of IX, the Aeon/God of Nihility, so her mind leans towards complete nothingness. Therefore, she has some severe memory issues. When Black Swan tries to read her mind, she struggles against this level of disarray, pain and, frankly, madness until it fades to nothingness (the black hole). It's not the Acheron was willingly hurting Black Swan (I don't think they are enemies at all), but her mind is so chaotic and full of pain that it immediately overwhelmed her.
At least, that's how I understand this trailer. I'm not sure I undertand correctly.
i saw you guys liked black swan's (the veiled girl) voice, and i also see you have rwby figures in the back, and i thought youd like to know that black swan's english voice also voices blake belladonna from rwby!
Black swan is a memetic entity, having discarded her physical body she's basically made completely out of memories, she can pry into other people's memories and sometimes control their emotions I think. Acheron is the emanator of the Nihility Aeon called IX, Aeons are basically gods in Honkai Star Rail, an emanator is granted their power by Aeons, She's also part of the Self-Annihilators who believe the universe has no purpose their various existential properties - such as corporeal body, mental cognition, and personal memories will gradually fade away in their journey of self-annihilation which is why in the story she's very forgetful. When Black Swan tried to enter her memories she was almost torn apart and devoured by the nihility within Acheron, since she's a memetic being made of memories she most likely almost died.
As someone who also knows very little of what actually goes on in Honkai…. Black Swan and Acheron have latched onto my brain.
The idea of someone who obsesses and collects memories and someone who can’t remember/easily forgets… that is a gold dynamic for me.
Also just… Acheron having no idea that Swan was trying to peek into her memories for answers and that what she saw terrified her to her very core is so funny to me. From Acheron’s perspective she just shared a lovely dance with a pretty lady.
Also also, hearing Arryn Zech using that kind of tone when I’m so used to hearing her in RWBY is an experience.
For more insight acheron has extreme memory loss due to being an emanator of Nihility (its said that those who follow the path of nihility, get their memories taken first). Black swan is a memokeeper which is someone who collects and peers into peoples memories to do that, yall caught the "purple sparkles" which was pretty much when Black Swan was using her abilitiesto go further into her memories. Black swan pretty much saw memories from acheron that were quite horrific and nearly saw IX (the Aeon(kinda like a god)) of nihility can erase peoples existence just due to gazing at them which is also a major reason why she stopped peering into her memories. Acheron never saw this which is why she was so calm or didn't bring anything up.
Side note : Black Swan at the beginning takes the "male" role of the tango while acheron takes the "female" role, which switches when Black Swan peers into her memories.
Also Blacl Swan was available to pull last patch so youll probably need to wait a bit for her but Acheron is on right now.
The quiet scary one, Acheron, is based off of Mihoyo's Raiden characters that have been recurring throughout all of their games, and she is consistently a favorite. So yeah, they always go all out for her design and promotion.

They're not friends, or even really allies (they are both presenting themselves in ways that are at points extremely misleading and each is aware of the fact), but they're also not enemies. Black Swan's goals are rarely in conflict with any other player's in this game: this simply briefly touched on one of the few exceptions, and that wasn't something Acheron is inclined to think back upon or care about.
Oh - while this will not answer any questions about what's going on, you can see the "current cast" in the music video released to inaugurate the current arc: "White Night". Between the fact that a lot of the story is taking place adjacent to the "real world" and that Black Swan is a memetic rather than material entity in any event, the correct answer to "did this really happen?" is "'reality' was irrelevant here to start with". It isn't anything Black Swan hasn't had happen to her before, though.
