Excellent review Gav, I really enjoyed that. I’m a massive Bowie fan as well. I got to see him five times, the last time being the Isle of Wight. Thanks for showing all those releases, I’m missing the Conversation Pieces so I must get that. I’m looking forward to seeing your review of the new boxset. Mike
Thank you for this video. I purchased the rock ‘n’ roll star box and really like it, except, it did not include the original album on CD. You must have a blu-ray player to hear it. Despite that disappointment, it was an excellent retrospective of the evolution of the Ziggy Stardust album. Anyway, the reason I’m leaving this comment is your video has convinced me I absolutely must obtain the previous box sets, especially Conversation Piece and Devine Symmetry. Not sure why they didn’t give Man Who Sold the World the same box set treatment, so I will save that skimpy 2-CD you showed us for last. I’m coming late to the party on these box sets so I’m sure I’ll be paying a premium, but based on your review, they sound worth it. I look forward to seeing your review of the Rock n Roll Star box set!
Ziggy box finally listened to in full - review video coming but here’s a playlist of my best of the box sets so far open.spotify.com/playlist/2pYWWm6sm3DZkCvRvCVyhN?si=rPzIgTbARHe8BqJ-J4K0pw&pi=e-jYx_F9G3RAGY
So 1st impressions of the book - it’s superb - a lot more contemporary interviews /reviews etc and as expected lots of great pictures of the time - the outer box is a foil type design and very reflective- and the Bowie notebook repro is really interesting too ! So 5 discs to listen to over the week now
Hi mate, great to hear your little story of your personal evolution of being a fan. i love both Tin Machine albums, i think theyre great. im actually not a huge fan of the "ziggy" or "diamond dogs" album (yes i like them but i dont love them... glad to know you are a big Prince fan, Lynne is a huge fan and although it really like him im only really discovering his complexity now. great video! - Lloyd
Thanks Lloyd - glad you enjoyed- I’ve sparked a big debate on one of the forums about how you pronounce Bowie !! Bonus ! Take care and thanks for commenting
Alright Mate , I was born in 1963 and by the early 70's I was buying music .Yes an early starter much influenced by top of the pops. My faves at that time were The Beatles, Rolling Stones , T Rex and of course Mr Bowie . I played Hunky Dory and Ziggy over and over. A Top 10 artist for sure. Now I want that new box set but 150 notes is a bit steep for me . I will await your verdict before jumping , no pressure Matey !!!!. Take Care and Be Lucky.
Ooo - I miss Top of the pops but not all the dodgy presenters ! I shall hopefully live up to your expectations! I got it at rarewaves for around £100 - hope they send it!! 🤞 Thanks again for commenting and supporting this baby channel
Enjoyed the video Gav as always. Saw Bowie Brum Town hall May 73 . One of my top 5 concerts. Have you found somewhere discounting pre orders for latest box?Interesting hearing your Bowie journey.
I managed to get a preorder in at rarewaves with a discount code flagged up somewhere so came in at £115 They are doing a 10%off this weekend too - was looking for the Lennon box set but none on sale - they must sell so many at a cheap price and then pull them Very jealous of your Bowie gig experience! Thanks for commenting as always - I’ll watch your Elvis one later as I’ve got that box set - you had to buy it in instalments- 2 CDs a month if I recall - tough going in the movie years !!
@@gavaxemanspins Wow must have taken ages Gav. What was the final price? I just think some box sets are getting to be crazy prices. the Town Hall gig was astonishing . Bowie stopped the gig at one point threatening to walk odd due to over zealous security hitting kids hands with rubber torches because they were on the apron of the stage.
For a so called big big David Bowie fan it would help if this guy pronounced his name correctly. 🙄 Very annoying, so much so It stopped me watching after only a couple of minutes.
@@gavaxemanspins Sorry but it’s never too late to change. To continue to wilfully mispronounce it just continues to show a certain level of ignorance. Also it’s got bugger all to do with your accent. You got it wrong fair enough, we all make mistakes, but take the correction.

Apologies- under the GOD not gun ! And obviously the space oddity self titled album was his 2nd not 1st - blame the aging process ❤

Why don't you make a video then we can all hear your pronunciations?
