BRO.... I needed this video.... All I here is, you have to scale, you have to scale, and dont focus on quality..... but my business was built on that. I care way more about quality than quantity, 2022 I did 60k 2023 I did 195K as a one man show. Fuck those people saying scaling is the way to go.... Appreciate this video more than you know!! Also, does it ever piss you off when you see agents using shitty photos, and shitty photographers? I don't know why by it pisses me off!!
I am not in your zip code as I'm an amateur hobbyist in a different creative space,. Yet I am in the terms of being yourself and adjusting where needed. It's been an honor to follow and be inspired by the work you do. I wish you and your family safe passage into 2024 may your business make your wallet overweight. Stay safe sir.
Interesting content. I'm trying to brake into the market myself, here in Canada. So far I haven't found the right approach. Maybe I need to watch more of your videos. Thanks for sharing your tips, they're worth gold!
Your i don’t give a F attitude is why i watch. I try not to look at what other photographers are doing in my area because you will always try to compare yourself to other people. I too have no interest in scaling. I like to keep quality control high. You sir are an inspiration.
Love to hear your point of view Ken. Your insight is right on point and broadly applied to nearly any business. For those who may be inspired or thinking about endeavors in real estate photography, you'll get no one else to tell it like it is than Ken. Great Stuff, Happy New Year! On to 2024!
oh man I love you're talking about scaling for 2024 and would be highly interested in your process to getting another photographer. want to stay small too because i love the job and quality. i am in the same position where i want another photographer/editor when those high seasons come to do the routine work.
I'm a pool builder who stumbled on your channel looking for a camera to video our projects. I've now watched like 6 of your vids, love the channel and respect the hustle! Any advice for for shooting pools?
Funny how real estate broker "forget" to pay or are in a "rush" when it comes to transfer money to their photographer, but god oh god that they need their pictures quick, and god save us if they paycheck is late when a house is sold. I now use wave to send invoice (which also give them the chance to pay by credit card so no excuses ;) hehe) and have a strict policy, delivery after FULL PAYMENT only
You know, Bo, I can see your change of style… your stuff has gone from great to amazing, and it doesn’t surprise me to hear you are prospering. I’m kinda the opposite of you in that I prefer the little easy jobs at the low end of the market - I love the job, though, like you, I just get more satisfaction out of making a little dump look great. I think I’m one of those underachievers you hear about…
Everything is a stepping stone no matter how big or small. I joke around all the time that photographing dumps is more lucrative than million dollar listings. You may just be the one to figure it out my friend
Sadly the harder it gets the better it gets for us. When the market is fire no one spends on marketing they don’t have to. Hence why we’re all slamming
@@OriginaldoBo You know what - that's a damn good point and I didn't think of it that way. Probably because I make 90% of my living on the front end of real estate development. Maybe I'll push harder on the marketing end this year.
Great Advice! In the past month I recently completed my first 2 jobs in my area the 410, first listing was a $900,000 waterfront. The seller had it staged amazingly (couldn't have had a better first shoot), 2nd was a $750,000 wf as well. The Realtor had a photographer but they didn't do drones so she hired me as I do both. I did some research and was kind of shocked at what people are charging for photos alone, very high so I made my prices similar but competitive. Realtor was very pleased with the videos. Just a simple pull up, reveal, top down front pan and pull back, (speed ramped) The biggest thing I took from these was keep it simple! Don't try and do too much, and keep those lines straight! Window pulls are tough on cloudy/rainy days. I used your pricing video and just tweaked the prices for my area. Worked great, (hoping to get steady work to justify more streamline services like the one you mentioned) I really would have been lost without the information you provided. Just wanted to say Thank You and that honestly I have a new appreciation for what you do, no doubt. 👍👍
Always nice to hear when people are doing well. Glad you had a good year and certainly hope that carries into the next. You're doing everything right and growth shouldn't be a problem. Hoping 2024 is twice as nice for you Dobo! I know last year was my first to show a profitable year and I was stoked, I'll find out here in January if that's true for 2023, it should be, been busy. Here's to 2024 for the whole of our industry.
Ken, congratulations on another well-done year of learning to cope with challenges, competition, and learning. Your year-end video for your business was insightful and educational. I wish you a happy, safe, and prosperous New Year.
There are a pile of similarities with where our two businesses are at the moment. In fact, I plan to shoot a video kind of like this too...if I can get over my RUclips burnout...lol.
Aryeo is 100% the way to go. I began using their service in April this year and it changed my life. Two things that sincerely helped my business this year, using Aryeo and joining the local real estate association. Ken, my business doubled this year from last. Beyond blessed! I wish you the very best in this upcoming year!
Being a former GM and area supervisor for a major US chain taught me to really watch those comp sales each week/month/year.. first few years you should comp very well.. after that, being up 5% each year is a good growth and that’s where we’re at after 7 yrs.. Keep up the great work! Cheers Ken!! (A video on keeping a solid work-family balance would be a good subject to talk about sometime.. I know I struggle with that myself)

I enjoy your straight forward information. I do Real Estate Vid/Pho here in Cali and this was biggest year.
Congrats 🍾🎉🎈 the hardest years have the biggest upside
Great information mate I’m just graduated from school and doing this full time thanks for all the help and advice really appreciate it 😊

Appreciate all the insight and inspiration Ken. May you have a Happy and Successful New Year! Stay Humble!

It’s been a challenge but I think I found someone that understands the business and what I need so we will see how it plays out
Great video. What video editing software do you prefer?

Details focus on the details on the pools, everyone shoots so wide. Show me something your competitors don’t show perspective clients

Switched to Areyo and that problem went away

Good vid…. But it’s messing with my ocd. Your secret labs headrest pillow was crooked during the entire video… lol
Good ole magnets
Hey man i really loved this video do you cover anything like how to price yourself or making bundles and retainers?
Not a fan of retainers , they are a double edge sword
Would you ever consider getting your real estate license and exclusively market your own listings?
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately
Real estate about to take a giant dump in 2024 - so hang on!

I’ve been so burnt on RUclips but the real estate pumps me up.
I found this is the most genuine, informative real estate channel!
What are your PC specs ?
I edit on a Mac
Congrats! Ken. Thanks for giving us a look inside your business, much appreciated.
Great recap of the year. I had a lot of the same takeaways.
Twas and interesting year. Now to reset and start over
Wish all the best mate for 2024.
Thanks man!
Good job Ken! Keep up the good work brother
Great work Ken! Wishing you continued growth and success in 2024.
See you in a week my friend
First 🎉 Happy Birthday Papi!
Great video. Thanks for sharing your successes and bruises. 3 of our adult kids live in Sarasota. So beautiful there in your part of the world.
As your business manager, I approve. BTW I seem to be missing my commission check. I'm sure this is an oversight...
i've always like your motion blur on speed rams but the motion blur in davinci is weak and barely noticeable. what do you use buddy?
Final Cut Pro
It sounds like the Aryeo software product might be worth producing a short video for.
Yeah it’s saved my ass

So glad to hear this! When I’m in NC we will have to grab coffee and catch up
Let’s do that this year 👍@@OriginaldoBo

Checking out the competition hurts your own feelings, for no reason.
Exactly! If you feel you are doing well keep doing you
