The OP didn't owe his family anything. The grandfather actually was a much better person than the OP's father, because he owed up to his wrongs and tried. Lack of forgiveness make the ones who continue to hate much worse people than those they hate. The fact they try to imply she was committing incest, and the fact the half-brother was being abused so blatantly is just more proof that women can be as toxic and abusive as men.
