hey friends!! welcome back :) Today's video is all about PRESERVING, MAINTAINING, CLEANING, STORING and DISPLAYING your beautiful coach leather bags the RIGHT way. This is how Coach does it, and how you should be doing it too.
Something I forgot to mention is the leather moisturizer and cleaner should NOT be used on suede!! If you are unsure, confirm with your local store's sales associate and they will tell you!
**PLEASE NOTE, if you do purchase a hook, do not let your bag FLOAT, that will be too must pressure on your bag straps. Instead, let the purse sit on the counter, and adjust the metal stand according to how long your straps are, so everything is propped up nicely, and there isn't unnecessary strain on any part of the bag. (do not do it the way these amazon pictures show it hahaha)

I realized not cleaning the straps can make a huge difference when you don’t clean it cuz on my old Coach outlet purse. The bag looked good but the straps were cracking but I wasn’t cleaning those. But when I got my Coach Dreamer 36 bag. I cleaned it every month, even the straps & when my birthday came up I got a new purse and putting my Coach Dreamer next to the new purse...my dreamer still looked brand new.

Hi Ivy. I have a Coach shoulder bag that I left in our house overseas for 3 years. Now O have it with me but the leather is already quite stiff (dunno how else to call it) and straps I feel is starts to crack. Is there a way I can save it? Do I just apply this cleaning method? I haven't washed it at all coz I am afraid I'll ruin it.

hey, thank you!!! :) My little black swagger shoulder bag is exactly like that!! So i basically just fold the straps neatly and then tuck it into the opening of the bag. My bag has a flap, so it still closes, even with the straps still attached. If yours is a zipper, I'd suggest you just leave it open, and maybe plop the whole bag into a dust bag to prevent anything from getting inside your bag. Hope this helps!!
Thank you! On a different note the Parker Top Handle with Quilting in Chalk/Brass is a bag that got away for me 😭😭 It’s so pretty and when I saw it online the other day there was only 1 left. I tried adding to cart but it was being held by other members. Do you think coach will bring it back?
@@MaicaGlipo hmm honestly im not sure they'll restock online BUT i suggest you call your nearby coach store, they might actually have some left in their backroom!! Or they can get a nearby store to send one to you. You might have better luck there, goodluck!!!

If I don’t have room in my closet to store it what is the proper way to store a moisturized coach bag to protect it from the elements? Should they be stored in bins or boxes?
HI Mandy!! thank you so much!! and i think as long as its in a dust bag, kept in dry area, whether it be a box or not, then its okay!! It's also important to remember not to squish them together because someone might lose their shape. hope this helped!!

Hello Ivy! How would you protect a light colored Coach leather bag from color transfer? Would you recommend using the Apple Garde or Collonil sprays? ☺️
hey!! good question, and honestly super important!! Personally I am just very careful when it comes to chalk or other light colored bags, and NEVER ever wear it with denim jeans. Denim is the number one killer for color transfer. That being said, its hard to always remember, and if you do where denim with a chalk bag, i recommend wearing it on your shoulder, and not across the body. It minimizes friction with the denim. As for the two products you mentioned, I've never used them before and don't feel comfortable recommending them, mainly because I have no idea what the ingredients are, and don't know if they will cause any negative reaction with the leather. But you can always do a patch test!! I always recommend my clients who want to use non coach products to take a small corner of the bag, and to test the product (inside lining is always good, or sometimes the handles). Apply a bit to somewhere discrete, and if you don't notice anything suspicious after the test application, I'd think you are good to go! :)) Hope this helps and goodluck!!

hi!! thankyou :) and ouff nappa leather is very hard to work with. Coach currently doesn't sell anything for it, and I can't recommend any products, because idk if it might cause any sort of reaction. My best advice would be to bring in your bag to your local coach store, and ask them to clean it instead. Goodluck!!! :))

Hi can you please do a tutorial on how to clean the inside of a branded leather wallet like coach. Money is passed among people so wanted to learn how to disinfect. Thank you so much!!
yes i could!! but tbh it wouldn't be any different than this video. I'd use the exact same 2 products, in the exact same order. If the wallet is leather, the inside is usually leather as well, so that's why it's virtually the same thing as cleaning a leather bag! Hopefully this helped!

hmm that's a really good question!! I'd suggest bringing in your bag and just having coach do it honestly, because I don't know any "coach approved" cleaners and I don't want you to accidentally ruin it :( i think safest bet is having coach do it! It's free of charge and they have the best tools at the end of the day :) :)

hi!! I wish i could help you but unfortunately here in Canada, we don't have a lot of snakeskin bags, the laws simply don't allow it. So i have never cleaned one, and have no clue how :( I suggest just calling your local Coach store and asking them for advice, or just ask them to do it for you!! Sorry i don't have more information!!
Hi! I love coach bags and your videos are really informative. Can I ask you for some advice? I bought the Cassie 19 a while ago, in black, and I didn't notice at first, but there are some darker, black streaks (of dye?) on the top, which are quite big. I don't know what I should do about that. I tried to find some similar cases on youtube but didn't find anything. In your experience, did that happen with some bags? Could it be fixed by Coach? I feel like it needs to be dyed again...
hmm im really sorry this happened to you :(( I have honestly never seen a streaky dye job, im not sure why that would happen. Have you taken it into your Coach store to ask? IF you bought it within the year, maybe your warranty covers it? I would really just go into store, and ask if they can find a solution for you. I'm sorry i couldn't provide more help, but hopefully when the sales associate sees it in person, they will know what to do. Goodluck!!!

So I just started my coach collection and I also bought a few pre loved coach bags as well. Any tips or advice on pre loved bags? Might be a good video idea 🤔
hey!! yes thats a good idea!! coach is usually a pretty durable brand though, so if you get a pre loved bag in really good condition, continue to take care of it the way you would if it is new!!! however, if its vintage, i would go to a coach store to check if that type of leather is ok to be cleansed with the classic coach leather and moisturizer. Cause those 2 products are fairly new, and might not be good to use on a bag from the 1970s. Otherwise, clean it as you would a new one :))

i definitely suggest using them!! the only reason I dont is because I like to display them, and im aware of the condition they are in. If you are storing them in the closest anyways, I would really suggest using the dust bag, that is after all what they are made for !! :))

What’s the difference if you buy it from the coach outlet or the actual flagship store?
I cleaned my coach pebbled wristlet with the cleaner from a friend who hadn’t really used it. I cleaned is a bit too hard and two small spots of it seem a bit smeared but not torn like some of it ate away in two tiny spots. Does it mean I rubbed too hard or is it that what my friend gave me is expired?
hmm im never seen this happen! It's possible that you rubbed too hard, as leather can lose its colour and texture if you really scrub. As for expiration, from my experience, if it "expires" it won't work, but it shouldn't ruin the bag either, as none of the products in the product are that strong. Hope this helps!!

hey!! that really depends, if its an exclusive piece/ collab, then it might not ever come back because they only produce a little quantity. OR, if corporate decides to discontinue a style, then once its sold out, its done done. However, if a new bag is just really amazing, and it sells out during presales for example, then yes it will come back. So it really depends on the context. If you're ever unsure about a certain style, you can ask your local SA, and im sure they could give you a better answer!! hope this helps :)
I have 2 pre-loved bags, so I don't have the original dust bag. Can i store buy a generic bag...if so what type of fabric works best for the leather bags...cotton or silk/satin?
Use a cotton/silk pillow case that you no longer need.
What is the best way to clean a Coach jacquard metallic tote? It has leather handles and I'm afraid if I scrub too hard or put cleaner on the metallic areas, it will be ruined.

Can we use the Coach cleaner and moisturizer for other brands like Kate Spade and Michael Kors bag?
hi!! great question! Generally i would imagine that Coach cleaner and moisturizers are safe to use on other brands, that being said, i would still do a patch test in a unnoticeable spot to try it. As for michael kors, a bunch of their items are saffiano leather, and don't require the cleaner/moisturizer because its coated and very resistant. (it's like a cross grain consistency, and originates from Prada). To clean a saffiano bag, you could probably use cloth and water, and it would suffice. hope this helps!!

hey!! I suppose its safe, but it's really not necessary!! I should have mentioned it in the video, but coated canvas is THE EASIEST to clean!! You can use a soft towel and water and that'll do the trick!! :))

Hi how to clean the hardware on the bag n how to clean the inside of the bag??
HI!! Coach currently doesn't sell anything for the hardware, but you can go to a Coach store and ask them to shine the metal for you, they have their special tools!! Inside of the bag is a lot harder to clean as its fabric, and I would say the best way to clean it clean is being very careful. No food, no pens, etc. Fabric soaks up everything. goodluck!!
Can you recommend a pillows used to keep the unused bag in she. I noticed that the Coach stores are now using them.
yea!! So any of these pillows would work: www.etsy.com/ca/market/purse_pillow_stuffer , the requirements aren't really high. As long as it fits, and keeps the shape of your bag, you are good to go!! However, you can also DIY it, and Coach does that too sometimes if they run out of actual pillows. Take a bunch of tissue paper, and scrunch it up to an appropriate size (one that matches your bags). Take another piece and wrap it around your scrunched paper (like making a burrito) and tape down the sides. Insert your new DIY pillow into a silk bag, and then into your bag and voila your done!! It's a super cheap and easy way to keep your bag's shape :) have fun with it and goodluck!!

Ivy, I have a white coach leather bag and I have a big blue stain because of my jeans. Would these product clean it?
I just cleaned my white coach bag that had a very nasty stain from my jeans, I used angelus easy clean on it and had to use a soft bristle toothbrush (definitely don’t recommend for everyone) since the stain wasn’t coming off with just a cloth. I would imagine that this cleaner would work too though
Hi. For coach rogue, how do you put the handles when storing?
hi! I roll the individual shoulder straps on its own, and place one on each side (the rogue has 3 parts so the 2 outer ones). And then I gently fold the handles in so they lay one on top the other on the opening. You have a choice to actually fold the handle completely in to the side of bag, but i dont find it necessary. Thank you, your videos really help. Quick question, I’m looking at a Hutton style bag from Coach and I am curious if you would recommend stuffing that style with paper for storage or not? If so I would like to get your opinion on a very common occurrence I am seeing. I am seeing these PH neutral papers that people are saying you must use to not damage your bags. Thoughts?
Hutton!! Cute!! Well to be honest, the hutton collection looks pretty rigid to me, and personally I don't feel like it is necessary to stuff. The only hutton i'd maybe stuff is the hutton saddle, but the other ones seem like they stand pretty well on their own. However, there's never anything wrong with stuffing, so go ahead with it if you'd like!! :)) As for Ph neutral paper..um I'm not entirely sure. The stuffing that I'm currently using is the ones that Coach uses, so I know its safe. When you a buy a coach bag, coach will 100% wrap your bag in this kind of tissue, so use that, or feel free to even ask the sales associate for an extra few tissues so you can stuff your bag!! Otherwise, I'd recommend you taking tissue, and putting it in the silk bag (that comes with every bag), and then stuffing that into your hutton. This way the inside of your bag is guaranteed to be protected as the tissue will be sitting in another silk bag!! Hopefully this helps!! :))

Ivy Wxng One more question, I noticed a majority of your collection is not in dust bags. Do you recommend keeping them out of dust bags so the leather can breathe better? The Hutton I’m looking at has a lot of snake skin on it and I don’t know what would be better for it.
hi omygosh sorry i didn't see this reply!! Honestly, dust bags are DESIGNED to keep your bag safe and I don't think it will harm the leather in any way. The only reason i like to keep mine out, is simply because I like to display them and think they look nice on my shelf hahaha. If it wasn't for that, id probably be storing them in dust bags. And I also leave them out because I know the surrounding environment (no sun, no humidity/dryness etc) is safe for my bags. If you aren't sure of your environment, your best to store in a dust bag in your closet!! As for snake skin, I'm in Canada and we don't get alot of it because some are illegal, so I actually don't know THAT much about it in terms of care. You might want to ask your local store associate about snake upkeep!! Goodluck!!!

hi!!! unfortunately I don't have any fabric bags, so I didn't buy the fabric cleaner. But the idea is the same!! use a white cloth, test patch first, dime sized cleaner, and then apply to fabric in small circles. hope this helps!!

hi!!! no u dont have to, as coated canvas is actually not leather!! its the easiest to clean, and u can honestly just wipe it down with a wet clean towel. Hi Stephanie!! and yes I absolutely recommend storing them in their proper dust bags!! The only reason i don't, is because I like displaying them on my shelf haha I find they're almost like decoration at this point. But otherwise, if you are storing them away in your closet, do put them in their dust bags!!! :))

ouhh thats an interesting question, I haven't done it myself but i think it could be a really good idea!! Just make sure to always test one spot before applying it to the whole shoe, just in case:)

But there is a list as a mentioned in the video, some leathers from older styles are NOT SUITABLE for the cleaners. So if you are ever unsure, just ask the sales associate and they will check the database for u, and give u the okay :) Sry for my late response!

Hi!! I am so sorry unfortunately I don't know :(( I did some research, looked at the bottle and it doesn't say anywhere :/ However, a good rule of thumb is to shake it before and test the consistency. If you notice it has hardened, throw it away. If it has become extremely liquid and watery, throw it away. Otherwise you are good to go!! I'd say the cleaner moisturizer set SHOULD be okay anywhere up to a couple of years if you store it properly (in a dry and dark environment), and it should last you a long time as well. The are no active, "natural" ingredients that would suggest it expiring within a certain time. Just to be safe, you can also test it on a small area of the bag before you clean the whole thing. Sorry if I wasn't able to answer your question, I hope i was still able to help though!!! :)

Hi! I decided to try to rehab a white bag I got in 2014 and it got all sorts of stains on it and I thought it was a lost cause. I got it looking like new again but I’m wondering if you can suggest anything to prevent dye transfer? I’m really worried about using products that will discolor the white leather
How do you store a bag with a strap with half chain half leather?
I roll it up the same way as my all leather straps!! and tuck it neatly into my bag :)) If the strap is like my parker, and not detachable, I just fold it in gently. You can actually see and feel how the strap was originally folded, it usually falls back into place, so i just follow that. Hope this helps!!

hi!! ouhh the tabby, great pick, its very cute :) I'm sure there are plenty of different cleaners and moisturizer options you could use, but I am not comfortable referring you one in case it goes horribly wrong :( The reason that Coach makes their own, is because they create it with powerful, but non harmful ingredients that will help preserve and not ruin the leather, i can't say the same for the other brands out there. I know you said you live far, but is it possible to order online maybe? Also, as i mentioned in the video as well, if there is a other brand cleaner/moisturizer you want to use, you can, but make sure to perform a patch test first. Take a small corner/inside area of the bag, that you can test on. If you apply it, and don't notice any color changes, texture changes after a couple of hours, chances are its okay! SO the same way you would test a product before applying it onto your skin, test the product on a small area of your bag before applying it everywhere. Hope this helps!! goodluck!! :))

hi!! do u mean the plastic ones they come in when they are completely new? yes you can! often times, that is how the backroom stores them before they are sold! but just make sure your bag is clean when u put it in the bag, plastic is not breathable!

hey!! great question and it really depends!! there are two types of florals 1) floral coated canvas and 2) painted floral on leather. If its 1) it will 100% not fade!! you can scratch and nothing's gonna come off!! 2) it won't necessarily fade, but it might peel if you don't take care of it or if you've just had it for a RLLLLLLY long time. It's super super durable, but since it is painted on, it is a possibility. however, i have one, and its still in pristine condition and ive had it for over a year now!! hope this helps!!! :)

hey!! you can clean the leather part of your strap the same way i showed in my video! As for the white cloth part, do you mean it is fabric? If it is fabric, you'll have to go to your nearby store and buy the coach fabric cleaner! hope this helps!!

Thank you so much!!! And I think they might, but it’s not written. I’d say it should be safe for atleast 3 years, but always check the colour and smell before applying, just in case! And make sure to keep it in a dry and cool place to preserve it as much as possible!

omg no :((( im so sorry!!! pen is super hard to remove :( my best suggestion would be to take it to ur local coach store, and see if they can remove it for you. They have stronger products, and it's free. However, pen is very very hard to get out, im not sure they will be able to either :( good luck!!!
