Recently attended a workshop on hazardous materials which referenced early poisonous dyes commonly used in fabric manufacture in the 18th and 19th century. How can we know if iron water is safe for human contact in a garment coming into contact with human skin? My awareness and concerns are really vigilant right now.
Julia Purcell I understand completely, I too am hyper cautious I have never and will never use Alum or aluminium pots in my process , I have a very sensitive child and that’s is why a I began creating in this manner, my practice is unique in that I am avoiding chemicals that have been manufactured and using minimally . Along with avoiding plastics , I sadly can’t say the same for all eco printers ,it is important to always ask questions. She reacts to everything and I call her my litmus paper ,she has helped me to be aware of much that we consume and bring into our homes , her path to recovery has been by process of elimination and detox . Interestingly in medicine iron has been traditionally applied to bring strength and help people to be have strength enough to be present in life. I have noticed no ill effects in my family.
