  • Welcome to Musicians On The Record, the show where we bring you the musician's story, I'm David Ward.
We asked you what content you wanted to see more of, and you told us you wanted more stories about musicians overcoming challenges.
So I am excited to let you know about a new segment, called The Rock Therapy Show. It’s not talk therapy, it's Rock Therapy: Conversations with Musicians about Music, Mental Health, Motivation and Mindset.
Why Rock Therapy? Well, in addition to being the show host, I’m also a licensed psychotherapist, (and an unlicensed drummer).
I really want to reduce the stigma of talking about these topics.
It’s 2019, can we talk about music and mental health?
I always find it inspiring and courageous when some of my favorite musicians talk about overcoming their struggles, like Eric Clapton and Aerosmith sharing about their recovery, Bruce Springsteen battling depression, and one of my favorites, Paul Stanley of KISS, talking about his struggles and going to therapy.
Also, how many of our music heroes have we lost to mental health and addiction issues? For me, it’s a huge list, Hendrix, Bonham, Moon, Janis, Jim Morrison, Jerry Garcia, Elvis, and sadly many more.
Plus, Howard Stern is talking about the benefits of his therapy now. If Howard can talk about it, it’s all good!
So if you like music and you think it’s cool when some of your music heroes are human just like us, who have everyday struggles, let’s talk about music and mental health in Rock Therapy.
We’d love to have you with us!
Subscribe and follow us and tell us who you would like to see on The Rock Therapy Show.
Thanks for watching, I’m David Ward, now go rock your day!
