    Philips is a winner I think when talking about cd players, best transport, good DAC and they made really good laser. Best Philips models are 960 880 and 650. They dont cost much and they are absolutely amazing, sound quality is really good. I have 650 and 960 and I just couldnt find better player. Friends came so many times bringing me top cd players that cost thousands of dollars, they just couldnt beat CD 960 he is that good.

    tda 1540 (14 bit) is a bit harsh compared to tda 1541 (16 bit), I had a philips cd 880 (tda 1541 s1) and cd 960 (tda 1541) at the same time, cd 960 has almost analog sound, it is better than cd 880 (I sold it), tda 1543 is half of 1541 and was installed in an entry level player, tda 1547 is one bit, it was installed in all models and what "surrounded" it created the difference "entry level" from "top level ". CDM 1 is the best mechanism, indestructible, cdm 1mk2 is almost as good as cdm 1, cd pro is rare, cdm 4 is the last great mechhanism. Marantz incorporated all this into its models.
    You can't go wrong with Philips cd 304 mk2, cd 880 and cd960, Philips LHH you can only buy the 100 V version, and from Marantz: cd 7, cd 12, cd 11, cd 10, cd 94 and cd 94 mk2.

    Hi, great video. Am wondering why the Sony cdp2700 is your favorite when you recommend the Philips tad-based cd players. The cdp2700 has an analog devices dac. Does it sound better?

    • @Angelicaaudio
      @Angelicaaudio  6 месяцев назад

      I am recommended Philips, because it is the most simple way not to make a mistake by choosing good sounding CD player. But there are also other types, which are sounding very good - for example this Sony CDP 2700 (professional studio CD player),,, Nakamichi etc...

      As I say in the video - try to find some CD player with the DAC Philips TDA 1540, TDA 1541, TDA 1543. The list of DAC (for thousands of CD players) you will find on my website on this link: www.angelicaaudio.cz/informace/dac-da-converter-list/

    I hate to break it to you guys but an expensive cd player definitely sounds better.
    I just bought a marantz cd 5005 and the only word I could use to describe the sound quality of my compact discs now is breathtaking! LOL
    Of course how much that is down to possessing a 400 watt amp IDK!LOL
    So consider that while your busy polluting the environment with your vinyl! LOL

      When I was drunk the other night, I did some googling for CD players - and found a Musical Fidelity A1 CD PRO, which was like 1500 Pounds a few years ago. So I wrote to that guy through some eastern European forum... after a few days, I get a reply, and therefore revisited the add, sober this time ;) Then I realised that I had replied to a 2014 add :D Either way, what can possibly go wrong on teh internets? So I sent him 400 Euros + shipping, and miraculously, I actually got the player :) There hadn't been one around for a long time, but just a few days later, another one sold on Ebay for almost 1100 Euros. And I almost bought a ca 15 year old player from the +30K dollar league from some Russian guy, but he was even too dodgy for my taste, and so spend the money on Ebay amps instead... Now I have two German tanks for amplifiers :)

    Lukasz Fikus abandoned CD transports years ago, and he was a man who really knew what he was looking for inside those expensive boxes. If I was going back to physical media, I'd spend the money on a turntable and the vinyl from my youth - as cheap as CDs are on Amazon, I wont be going back to the spinning disc.

      @@Coneman3 The media, at least IME, still needs to be archived to disc and once its on that disc, convenience says it'll play just fine from there without ever scratching the original CD.

      @@Coneman3I picked up an old 80s rare Sony player for kicks and started playing some of my old CDs. Not kidding it sounded better to me than Spotify premium or even Qobuz, I don’t know if it was the DAC inside that was more musical or what but it’s made me want to revisit the format again.

    You've been wrong in 1989 so the magazine hifi & music tested different CD players for 2000 Swedish kroner and then it came to the conclusion that the denon had the best CD sound and this was 1989

      Thanks for your comment. I do not say, that there are no other good CD players. But for the beginners is the most simple way to choose the good CD player - to buy any with the DAC Philips TDA 1540 etc... For example I love and use all the time my Sony CDP 2700.,,,, and regarding the tests in hifi magazines... it is sometimes like advertising :-)

    how do you find a good cd player as the format was never designed to sound good as they used crap analog stereo mixed masters. It took many years up until the late 90s before they released quality with the remasters they made for the SACD format. That was the first time they original multi track master came out of their safe place.

    • @beauty9148
      @beauty9148 6 лет назад +3

      +Klaas J I don't know, many CDs sound actually great. You have to find out the good releases. Japanese pressings are great and Epic released Special Edition remasters for MJ albums which sound great too. Sure there's shit CDs focused on loudness and lack of detail but that doesn't mean there's great ones too. SACDs are included.

    • @EvilVonRetee
      @EvilVonRetee 4 года назад +2

      Check out Dynamic Range Database and you will actually find out that most of the 90's cd remasters are crap compared to 80's original cd's. And that's why those are so expensive nowadays.

    • @mikeg2491
      @mikeg2491 Год назад +1

      @@EvilVonReteeAlso a lot of releases on Spotify use these remasters, this is why it’s still worth it for physical some of the older releases sound better than the version on Spotify.
