- There was a winter storm warning, so naturally Nala and I had to go out for a hike. I ramble a lot in this video, but if you want me to answer any questions in future videos, please drop your questions below. As always, thank you for watching.

I was just going to comment the same thing. I put this up on the big TV and my golden Bodie is LOVING this and gets up and barks at Nala when she she is zooming, stomping or wiggling in the snow. The dogs Love these videos.

Chris, I have to tell you - this channel is the best therapy I've ever found. I absolutely love your silly shorts with Nala stomping and goofing around - they bring me so much joy. I also adore these kinds of meditative, calm nature walk videos. Feels like hiking with a good friend (and her human companion 😄). They're not boring to me at all. In fact, it's a welcome change from the overstimulation of this fast-paced world. Thank you so much for everything you do for Nala! It's easy to see how much you both love one another. And thank you for sharing your wonderful adventures with all of us! You and Nala are truly a blessing. 😇💕

I don't think "simple" hikes are boring at all. They offer ideas about places I'd like to see. Remember, also, that many people can't or may no longer be able to do strenuous exercise and your videos sharing even the simplest experiences bring them lots of pleasure. They are very much appreciated. You might want to share a little "local" or historical information about the area if you feel like it would be of interest. Did someone clear that trail? It looks like a snowmobile went through. Be safe on the trail and thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks for the perspective and encouragement, Michelle. I do appreciate it! I think that would be a great idea. Some of the places in Utah do have some interesting history. I could research and talk about that during some of our hikes in the area. The trail was just packed down by foot traffic. The lower portion is a road that is open in the summer. No vehicles allowed on the second half of the trail and was just packed down from people walking on it. Thanks again for the comment! 🙏

Such a marvellous walk! Watched it twice in a row. So, definitely NOT boring. Only watched four of your walks and camping videos with your soulmate and then subscribed. You have a wonderful affinity for the landscape around you, and the ability to pass that enjoyment of viewpoints, weather conditions, and physical activity on to others. There have been other nature walkers/campers that have shared with us their times in nature with no words at all - and like your videos, these are always gifts that are gratefully received. So never feel pressured
to talk, but share whatever you find interesting: history, thoughts about plants or animals you’ve seen . . . and when it seems time to enjoy
quietly the world around you, never doubt that we are all at your side, happy to share in silence the wonderful places you bring us to.

I live in Palm Springs and we do not get winters with snow … I love seeing you and Nala exploring such beautiful hikes!! Know that you are inspiring people to spend more time with their dogs …. our time with our precious goldens is so brief-- in 15 years you'll never think you took too many videos of the time you spent exploring with nala. it's been 10 years since my jewels left us and i think about her every day and wish i had more photos and videos of life with her. i often share these videos with my dad who feels her loss most of all and they help us reminisce and help him in particular process her loss. hope it encourages you to hear that there's at least 2 golden owners out there who enjoy these longer vids that are such wonderful snapshots of life with a golden!

I always enjoy your hiking videos with all of the beautiful scenery and watching the interactions between you and Nala. Seeing the fresh snow on the trails and hanging on the trees was really nice. It looks like someone had cleared most of the trails with a path in the snow and it is funny they stopped just before the summit. Maybe they stopped because it was too dangerous to go any further. That was crazy that the snow was up to your calf. I would like to see you do a video with the "Ellie Golden Life" Channel with Ellie and Emma. It would be interesting to see Nala, Ellie and Emma all interacting in a video. On your hiking videos it would be interesting to hear some stories about your family or growing up years. Looking forward to your future videos.
Thanks for all of the great topics Ben! We have plans to hang out with Ellie and Emma later this year and will definitely be creating some content. The first part of this trail definitely had some traffic but then I think they got nervous near the end haha. Thanks again for the comment. I appreciate it!

Chris, Nala will be just fine in the cold as long as she is moving and not wet. Our German Shepherds are able to tolerate 0*F without any problem, but they are outdoor farm dogs (highly trained). Make sure dogs do not have ice between their (paw) digits. Avoid putting "insulation" on them if they have the pelage (fur) that Nala has, as it matts down their fur and decreases the natural thermal insulative properties of fur (very short haired, small dogs may indeed need, however, an assist from insulation if the animal looks cold).
In future videos, it might be nice to tell us a little about Nala's story: what prompted you to get her, why a female, why the breed; some of the landmarks of her life with you, and how old she is; your story: where you live/hike; what you do for a living; your interests/passions; your philosophy of having a canine companion; what inspired you to love nature and the outdoors; your hopes for the future............all this you can recount as you hike and tell us a little about what has moved you in the past month, just as though we were your hiking partners with you, having a conversation (you could list the things you want to talk about on a paper and refer to it to prompt you conversation). Everyone wants to hear a story. We all want to know about each other better; perhaps you could tell us a little about yourself and what moves you periodically on your walks? Why not solicit the viewership about what they would like to know and see?
As a veterinarian, I can't applaud you enough for taking your relationship and responsibility for stewarding and loving your canine friend (I despise the word "pet") with such a sense of responsibility, dedication and kindness! In a very real sense, she seems to be your partner who you love and adore from your heart. This is what a human-animal relationship should look like. It tears my heart to think of all those exploitive and abusive relationships I have witnessed in my practice from time to time. You both are indeed the example of an ideal partnership.
In "The LIttle Prince" (by Antoine de Saint-Exupery), the fox makes an important statement when he says: "You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed." When he says "tame me" he is really saying, relate to me, bond with me, be a part of me, ultimately be responsible for me. ("Tu deviens responsable pour toujours de ce que tu as apprivoisé. Tu es responsable de ta rose...")

Enjoyed watching this: the beauty of that snowy mountain, the love between you and your precious dog and Nala's beauty and behavior. We also have a Golden Retriever (our third). He's gorgeous and is only just over 1 year old. Yes, our dog eats sticks and virtually anything he can get his teeth on except unacceptable things in our house. Thank God! Our dog comes ALIVE the colder the weather is. So I can see yours does too. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your experience.

NOT BORING! Very zen and lovely. Nala does NOT look cold, she looks perfectly acclimated. I found you today and I'm hooked. My Golden, Cooper, would love to have that great terrain to romp in. I really like when you are calm and loving with your girl, she is so so so! Happy! I have watched this a couple of times now while cuddling with my 2 dogs and it’s one of the mooooost relaxing things ever. Me and dog 1 both have anxiety while dog 2 is a goldie. Goldie makes us calm, just like Nala. So pleaseee we need more. We would happily watch you guys 50 times in a row 💗

This wasn't boring at all! I love watching vlogs, and this one was super relaxing and fun to watch. It was so much fun watching Nala enjoy the snow, and you have a contagious laugh that makes people smile. I have depression and I like to think not just me but many others enjoy these videos regardless of simplicity or complexity as they're positive and happy. It's a good reminder that there is beauty and joy in life.

i lost a dog a few weeks ago who had a lot of quirks that are always so indearing for a quiet dog with a tough exterior.
your videos really help me think of the good times without being sad. they also help me feel cosy, refreshed and ready for sleep. it helps me wind down without being bored.
