Loved every minute I spent in Italy, Tuscany was near the top, certainly in natural beauty and tranquility. The memories of that food is enough to make me salivate right now. But I’d recommend getting an electric car to enjoy traveling there.. that growling, dirty, whatever she was driving, is so out of place in that area these days...
Hi, I want to give some background about the “growling, dirty, whatever it is ... car”, because the comment is uninformed. That “dirty growling whatever it is”is a 1998 Aston Martin. It does burn a lot of fuel, but only for about 400km per year. More energy is used to manufacture a new car - even an electric one - than the car will then burn in 10 years. Production of an electric car consumes 50% more energy than a traditional car. So by NOT buying a new car - particularly an electric one - the owners of the Aston are saving far more energy than they would by buying a new car. To really save energy and help the informed efforts to reduce environmental damage, the wise thing to do is to use an old car and drive it as little as possible. In that way the pollution created by manufacturing a new car is avoided. Unfortunately, if everyone took this advice it would lead to huge job-losses in the motor industry. So it’s a tricky balance. Apart from being a gorgeous tribute to human ingenuity and craftsmanship, that car is probably the most environmentally friendly in the Cortona area. In everything they do the owners are very conscious about the environment and are very informed about effective ways of protecting the environment; in this particular set of circumstances, replacing the “dirty, growling whatever it is” with a new car - particularly an electric one - would be hugely detrimental; the owners love Tuscany and the planet and care deeply about climate change. By contrast, perhaps, the owner was interested to see that you recently “liked” 2 videos about racing a McLaren Senna, which with its twin-turbo V8 delivers about 19 miles per gallon and produces a prodigious 280gm/km of carbon per kilometer. Best wishes, The owner of the “dirty growling whatever it is” 🙂
